You mean since 1991 with the later comics, in a fairly niche area of comics? Seems like one of those endless neo-fictions and relationships that came by the late-1980s. I dislike most of that. Some comics of this era are great, but most of the changes/additions are terrible compared to the 1940s through 1970s (though I do have mixed feelings about this period, as well -- it's just a bit more stable and classical). Some great changes to Superman were made later, though, and I like some of Alan Moore did. I also love the addition of Bane and some other details of Batman and DC in general when it comes to the dark heroes/anti-heroes. This mostly started with the likes of Wolverine in 1975 or whenever. I love the other darker elements of Marvel that came between about 1975 and 1986, such as The Punisher and Daredevil -- and I love those movies, too (unlike most comic fans, haha. I'm a sucker for superhero movies). So, it's not all bad at all post-1960s. Anyway, there's no way it's one of the most 'iconic couples'. Maybe to X-Men comic fans -- but very few humans even know that. I certainly never knew that. I always have mixed feelings about comic couples, but they often seem weird to me. They either do it purely for fan service or as a plot device to keep things going over the years, so it's always very unnatural and not great storytelling. Batman is one of the worst. Robin and Batman ended up having about 5 million kids and parents and God knows what else going on. It's all over the place. Not to mention, they literally killed Robin (Todd) because everybody hated him, and then they loved him after he died. What a mess. Comics are very weird (but, I am actually a massive Batman fan and most of my comics are Batman, haha). I've also always been a huge X-Men movies fan (at least, almost all of them), though I know they are generally disliked by most comic fans and many movie fans, as well. Not read enough X-Men comics to comment on that, but some of them seem great. I must be one of the few people to actually love this movie. I'm biased, that's for sure -- and it's not a great movie, I know that. I just love it and always have.

The thing most people don't realize is they both have ptsd just on different sides. Logan is experiencing oversensitization and he wants to remove himself from what causes the stress while Victor is experiencing desensitization and feels as though he can't live without things like war and death cause he is so used to it and doesn't know what else he can do while Logan wants to do literally anything else. Fantastic character study

Fun fact: im pretty sure this ending fight is a reference to the “Three mile island accident” which was a partial nuclear meltdown in a Pennsylvania town in 1979. So in this “universe”, it’s to be believed that they spread the story of a meltdown to cover up why the reactor was really destroyed. My mom lived a few towns over when the real accident happened and pointed it out when we first watched this movie! This movie may be messy, but I will always love it in some way. Plus that opening war montage is still one of my favorite movie intros ever, so well done!!

Homelander's Gooch! I'm sure someone has already explained this, but here's what I understand about the Deadpool situation: Ryan Reynolds has always loved/wanted to play Deadpool. When this role came up, he jumped at the chance. But after reading the script, he obviously hated it. During a conversation with the higher-ups about how bad this version of Deadpool was, he was basically given an option by Fox: Either take this role and potentially get your own Deadpool movie somewhere down the line, or you'll never get a chance to play Deadpool. So he did it, then later filmed a trial shot (Deadpool on the bridge) which went unreleased for 4 years before being "leaked" (possibly by Reynolds himself). Fans went crazy over it, movie got green-lit.....leading to the Deadpool we have now. As for Gambit, there was talk for years about him getting a spin-off which I believe Channing Tatum had actually signed up for. They were about to start production when Disney bought Fox. The production of Gambit was then canned. Hope this clears things up, Mr. Goochman. Looking forward to you getting to the (proper) Deadpool movies

I don't know if that's been retconned in the comics, but originally, adamantium was simply a different metal from vibranium. Where vibranium absorbs vibrations, adamantium can cut through anything if given a sharpened edge. Cap's shield was made of a unique alloy of vibranium and adamantium which no one was able to ever duplicate. Vibranium was found only in Wakanda, and IIRC, adamantium was found only in the Savage Land in Antarctica.

So this movie has some accuracy in regards to Wolverines origin but it also changed quite a few things. - James Howlett is Wolverines real name and his brother is Sabertooth. - Sabertooth is also is the original X-Men movie but he was played by a wrestler. - In the comics, Wolverine lost his memory during the adamantium bonding process for the Weapon X project. - In the comics, Frank Dukes is a mutant named Blob and he is very strong and almost immovable when he wants to be. - Cyclops did not meet Professor X like he did here - Gambit became an X-Men later and was romantically involved with Rogue - This Deadpool is not the same as the one in the Deadpool movie. There's more but that's the highlights.

It intresting that the metal Stryker was looking for was actually Vibranium (from Black Panther). Adamantium is actually a Vibranium and steel alloy made when you mix the two. Once harden, adamanium will never melt again, which is the reason it must stay boiling until it ready to be set. Adamantium is actually stronger and more dense then Vibranium, but it loses it other properties that make Vibranium valuable, like the abilitiy to absorb kenetic energy and it's light weight.

I forget how the name Logan came about, but Wolverine's given name is James Howlett. And they went weird by making Sabertooth and Wolverine brothers in this movie. Likely to "explain" why both of them have accelerated healing, though. Edit: Dude with the lightbulbs in his trailer doesn't USE electricity, homie. His power is powering electrical devices. When they killed the elevator at the start, he's the one that started it back up. That's why his carnival game is "turn off the light", because he's just using his powers to keep it on. Likewise, the train, all the little toys, the lightbulbs, all his powers. That's why when Victor showed up, they all died, because he lost the slightest concentration it took to keep them powered.

Wolverines real name is James Howlet after the death of father he went on the run. And changed his name to James Logan, Logan for short. Logan got his nickname Wolverine during his cage fighting days. Because of his animalistic personality and short size, Logan's "5.4" in the comics. Victor Creed Logan's "brother" is his arch nemesis Sabertooth and in the comics. Wolverine and Sabertooth aren't brothers, Creed hates Logan because he killed his actual brother.

Just remember that the X-Men movies are full of a lot of soft reboots. Much like the comics, same characters different stories. So this Deadpool is not the same as the later Deadpool. I'm not far enough to know if you realize, but Logan's brother is Sabretooth (The really hairy guy from the OG trilogy).

The Adamantium covers his bones and bone claws. I heard that in one of the comics, his healing factor managed to change the Adamantium and is able to regrow it if something powerful enough manages to damage it. And yes they butchered Deadpool in this movie

At first it didn't bother me what they did with Deadpool in this movie. I didn't know much at all about him and Deadpool didn't exist in the comics when this team (Wolverine, Sabretooth, Wraith, Blob, etc.) were together. That being said, once I saw the Deadpool movies, I understood why people were upset. Ryan Reynolds didn't like what they did to Deadpool in this movie, so he wanted to do it justice. He also said that Deadpool would never have been a project that he'd have taken on if it wasn't for this movie. So, I guess by them messing up so badly on Deadpool created the path for the great Deadpool movies that Ryan Reynolds gave birth to. I love this movie!

Ngl, I was *significantly* more invested/ interested in Wolverine's relationship w/ Kayla in this film than I *ever* was of his relationship w/ Jean tbh - the first 3 X-men films would've been *considerably* better w/out the love triangle subplot imo. I enjoy all the X-Men movies but at the same time, I really hate them. Not only Deadpool in this but I don't think they should have made Logan and Victor brothers. In one timeline (X-Men Forever), Victor is his father but that's the closest relation they ever had. I've read a good majority of X-Men comics and this movie took some things from Team X and used Wolverines actual backstory but replaced characters.

This movie, while (in my opinion) leaves me with the same feeling I get when I have to empty the trash but someone over filled it with stuff that should have gone into the compost, is very very important. They cast Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and so incredibly, epically destroyed the character that it caused him to go on a ten year mission to create an accurate Deadpool movie. Can't wait for you to get to Deadpool 2 😂

Fred Duke's ability in this movie is that he's pretty much indestructible. That's why he was able to go fist to fist with Wolverine. In the comics his powers are more complicated

Glad you liked it. As a Wolverine fan from the comics, I hated how much they screwed things up. 1) Wolverine and Sabertooth (Victor) are not brothers in the comics (I have the issue where a blood test confirmed they weren't related). Tho it kinda works in the movies. 2) The Weapon X program in the comics was much more shady and secretive. Stryker wasn't apart of it. The "proffessor" running it knew Logan was a mutant, but not that he had bone claws. Also at the time, Logan had been working as a cop in Canada. 3) The love interest he remembers as an Native American girl he lived with in a log cabin and victor kills her on Logan's birthday. (Tho this is later revealed to most likely be a false memory implant. The girl ends up eventually becomming a leader of Hydra I believe. I do like parts. But as a whole, very unsatisfying knowing how much better it could have been. And don't get me started on how badly they screwed up Deadpool. The ONLY thing they got right is he was a mercenary with a mouth who did work with Logan way back when. He was not a mutant. He is given Wolverine's healing abilities later by the Weapon plus program...but you'll see that more accurate take when you get around to watching Deadpool.

So when this came out into the theaters . There was a screener version that floated around with the unfinished copy. in the Scene with Reynolds it showed the cables he was connected to as well as green screen and fake claws from Wolverine. it was great. I wonder if there is still a copy around.

They didn't get the powers right for Deadpool (is only healing factor), Blob (mass control), or Cyclops (optic blasts don't produce heat). Gambit's portrayal was quite iffy. Like so many of the X-Men movies, there's a number of awesome moments, but it'd be great if there were people in charge who actually cared about the characters. The adamantium bullet was super dumb when the first movie's xray didn't show it and zero reason for Stryker to confidently assume it would impact the memory of someone with a healing factor.
