This movie kinda bridges one thing people wondered about. It showed that Magneto didn't REALLY care about Mystique, he just cared about her as a mutant. As soon as she endangers mutants, he's willing to kill her, which is why in the older movie, the moment she loses her mutation, he just goes 'you're no longer one of us' and abandons her. He only cares about mutants, and only sees mutants as mutants, he is incapable of just seeing people as people.

It also passively disproves magnetos beliefs as mystique killing trask made the future they were in, and it was sibyl until she dropped the gun that they got their happy ending (well until Logan orc, which we can question the canon of)

I don't think he ever intended to full on genocide the mutants, after all it wasn't even him who went forward with the project it was whoever preceded him after his death, he literally admits he doesn't hate them, he envies them, he isn't Striker, the problem was in his efforts to police and control them, his project ended up being a means to completely eradicate them. Trask isn't a self serving scumbag, the problem with mutants is that the rest of the world is completely at their mercy, the worlds security and fate can depend on a single individuals principles and judgment, Trask was just trying to combat that reality but the ends didn't justify the means.

Thank you for watching the Rogue Cut. I’m so mad her parts were cut out of the theatrical version for two reasons. A) because we miss out on the obvious return of Rogue, B) because it explains how the Sentinels were able to copy mutant powers. I remember watching the theatrical version and understanding that they used Mystique’s power to shape shift, but it made no sense that they were able to steal abilities. Now it makes sense that they were using a blend of both of their powers.

@@timj4885 Yes, the claws Mystique generated were extensions of her body and she could copy them to some extent, but she couldn't replicate the actual hardness of adamantium, so Logan was able to cut through them and cause her pain. Maybe they should have showed some kind of injury on her knuckles when she changed back, but I won't nitpick the filmmakers for that. The point is, she can't actually copy the powers of another, like Logan's healing ability for example. As for Rogue, it's true she did take the cure in X3, but so did Magneto and he showed by the end of the movie that his power was slowly starting to come back when he moved a metal chess piece the slightest amount. So it's safe to assume that the cure was only temporary or could be overcome with enough effort so it's not shocking that Rogue has her powers back.

Actually, no. Lorna is not a Maximoff. Magneto was captured and put in the pentagon's prison in 1963, after the whole president assassination. But if you think about it, what happened to the Wolverine from the new timeline? From 1973 to 2023 (50 years!) he had a life, including being a part of the X-men and teaching at the school, but when his timeline caught up with the moment his alternate future self went back in time to change the timeline, he's just erased from existence and his alternate future self takes over his body and his life? I always loved how Charles' and Raven's relationship was portrayed. There was some deep love there. Also I feel she loved him more, to the point it could've been more than brotherly/sisterly love she felt for him. But he only ever saw her as a sister. That later turned into kind of resentment on her side, and I think it wasn't only because he started liking veing a pet of president too much and being on the covers of magazines. In the First Class you can see it when she says: "I used to think it was gonna be ME AND YOU against the world, Charles, but no matter how bad the world gets, you don't wanna be against it, do you? You wanna be a part of it." Dang, she really loved him.
@mizrolist
@mizrolist 10 ай бұрын
I'm sure that Raven loved Charles, it was obvious after she changed her eyes in the bar when Charles complimented that other girl. But she was disappointed - and then met Hank, promptly fell in love with him... and Hank blew it hard with his comments about her beauty. These two shaped her into the colder, more purposeful personality we see in the original trilogy and in this film.
@avocadothecat

I know it's stupid to think that probably, but after all this time in comics and TV I become more and more convinced that Charles and Erik are the only couple that could work. They already bicker enough to be married. I usually never let headcanon spill over into real canon but those 2 make it hard. And since mutants are already an allegory for minorities like gay people - might as well... It would have been hella weird to have Charles with Raven... and I still shiver at Magneto x Rouge (like wth '97/comics) or even worse: Charles x Jean (comics r wild)

What I like about Mystique's transformations in this movie is you can tell she's still a novice as far as her espionage and spy skills. Although she can look like anybody, she's still working on ACTING like somebody else. Especially with the soldier disguise in her first appearance and when she was disguised as Trask at his office, there are small tells that make it more obvious the person is Mystique. In the soldier's case, it's a little hard to put to words but between the soft way he speaks and the slightly unsure way he walks in the facility at first, it definitely gave off a vibe that he wasn't really who he seems. And with Trask, Mystique offers the secretary a spontaneous and very sincere compliment on her scarf, which judging by the Secretary's reaction, isn't something Trask would typically do.

I'm so glad you checked out the rogue cut. Mannn I remember in 2015 I saw the trailer for this cut and I was SOOOOOO hyped. Some scenes are the same but for the most part this is a completely different movie because the context has changed so much. It was so fun having already seen the original version and then watching this and seeing the differences play out. This was also around the time I was discovering that movies have extended cuts and directors cuts

@@RLucas3000 Not that I remember, no. They might have said the name "Irene Adler" at _some_ point in one of the movies as a very surface level Easter Egg but the character has never been introduced. I mean they have Wolverine, Beast, and Azazel and never mentioned any connection between any of them other than Beast, _and_ Nightcrawler has interacted with both Azazel and Mystique (IIRC) with no allusion to "hey Mom, hey Dad" -- so likely a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation.

So glad you watched the Rogue Cut. Rogue, her rescue, and the aftermath weren't the only things cut from the theatrical. This version also extends several scenes/conversations and has more additional scenes like the debate among the future mutants about changing the past, wolverine meeting Quicksilver's little sister, Beast and Mystique's interaction at the mansion, Mystique destroying the Cerebro helmet, Charles' interaction with a disabled veteran at the White House. and even the credit scene. They really help flesh things out and give other scenes better context that was missing from the theatrical version. I can't watch the theatrical version anymore without getting frustrated by the holes this version filled.

At 19:01 when Logan said, “I just saw someone who’s gonna bring me a lot of pain someday,” that was Colonel Stryker on the floor, which gave Logan flashbacks when he got the procedure to have the adamantium onto his skeletal system. The reason Logan is even aware of this, is because his 21st century version of his consciousness is in his 1973 self, aka younger self, because the girl back in the future has the ability of bringing him back that far in time in the first place. Regarding striker, they recast the part of striker at the time when days of future past was made. But that’s where the flashbacks came from from the second X-Men movie. I really enjoy watching your reactions, I hope you’re having a good week!

This movie got me thinking about mystiques power, since she can alter her appearance to anybody that means she has total control over her muscles, she can make them as stretchy or dense as possible, so she technically has super human strength and flexibility along with the obvious powers to be anybody down to their DNA. Which also means she can make herself the undisputed fastest person in the world, if we discount other mutant powers. The comic books might say something else about this but it seems like she has a seriously OP power.
@cyber_rachel7427
@cyber_rachel7427 Жыл бұрын
She's able to mimic powers, but never as strong as they really are. For example, she once copied Wolverine's powers, claws and all, but she wasn't able to turn her claws to adamantiun; they weren't as strong, and couldn't cut anything as his can. She's also mimicked her son, Nightcawler, before, but didn't gain his ability to teleport through doing so. The closest thing she's ever done to what you suggest is turning herself into a dog. However, this caused her immense stress and was a form she could only hold for a few minutes
