that's awesome how well they're socialized. my friend had a savannah monitor and it wanted to strike and bite all the time. it was kinda big too around 12" without the tail

That little dude laying in the hot spot looks like he's on little surfboard because the slate isn't balanced properly. 🙂🙂It wobbles it was funny to see him getting his balance. You could train him to surf!

take it to a vet and have it probed otherwise you won't be able to visually tell on your own until it's a year old or more. experienced breeders like Kevin can probe on their own but it's not something to try to do yourself. could harm the animal.

Doing this with my ackie coming in two weeks no questions asked!! .. I’m just making sure my ambient and basking temp is good with right level of humidity ... 20 gal long it is !! With wire hides ... I have a 4x2x3 I’m creating with natural look like what he was talking about 😂 but this is a good idea and I’m doing it !!

Do you have a video on socializing the monitors that are not interested in being social? Mine hisses and tail whips when im anywhere near and will not eat if im present. Hes a youngster still and my enclosure is built very similar to the enclosures youre using.

My friend who has monitors used his butcher to his advantage. The butcher throws away a lot that can be valuable to feeding monitors. Tendons is an example, trim of fats and muscle taken when trimming meats that will be put up for sale. Just food for thought(hehe) for those who have access to a butcher, see if they can put aside a goodie package for you.

Hey there!! I know this is an old video. I’m not sure if your gonna see this to answer my question. If you do..I wanted to know what your thoughts are on the Nile monitor….I just bought one 3 days ago. She still hasn’t eaten anything. I’ve watched her taste the water in the habitat…but she’s still unsure of everything…I’ve tried throwing in some food and she doesn’t even attempt. Even if we leave the room. I tried different incest and still nothing. Should I be worried? If it helps I can send you a video of her. Thank you in advance if you see this and answer me.

Sir i need some help. Im from the Philippines and i need help with a 20 inch wild caught monitor that some kids brought me. They were probably gonna kill it for food so i just bought it. I am far from any wild area so im supposing this was an escaped pet. Anyways, can you help me with some tips about diet and socialization specifically for this monitor? Wouod really appreciate it so much.

I had experience taking care of one but it was already years ago and that one was already highly socialized and was a good feeder. This is a new experience for me. Really hope you could help

For the ones that don't show any interest in interaction, do you do anything different with them other then giving them time and being patient?
@EVILMORPHGOD7 жыл бұрын
Well, once I graduate the obvious ones I work harder at the shy ones.... it's a matter of sorting through them and winning them over.

@@EVILMORPHGOD what do you do if they don’t want to interact with you
@samarabevin8 ай бұрын
@@latinmusic3965yes I can’t find a video of ONE example of what to do with this lol like why this would be GOLD if someone would record this. We are dying for a video showing a struggling interaction. Even if it’s boring and just Kevin sitting there with his hand in the enclosure of a scared monitor, we would love that!!!

Why so hot? I live in a Asia where I see these things in our carpark, Never gets close to those temperatures in the wild average year round temperature 31 up to 40 in June to August, but down to a day time temp of about 26 in December
@samarabevin8 ай бұрын
He’s talking about surface temp of the hot area. Have to use a temperature gun for this. This is not ambient air temps
@timphillips99548 ай бұрын
@@samarabevin lol I seen and used temperature guns for over thirty years in the UK. This is are hardly new technology and I think I understand the basics of reptile keeping sunlight and temperture gradients after all those years thanks. In the wild these reptiles only use these hot spots in the early morning and at dusk or may be after a spell of cold weather, In all of these situations the basking area will still be less than the average day time temp.
@samarabevin8 ай бұрын
@@timphillips9954 This video was only mentioning surface temps. Your original comment stated these temps are “never” used. Then you listed ambient temps as if that related to surface temps LOL maybe you should go outside and touch some grass.
