I was a bartender at 21 in 1983 & worked at a very busy restaurant/comedy club for a couple of years. Pre-show, customers were 2-3 deep at the bar & I banged drinks out like I'd been doing it for years. Fast & accurate. Referring to a manual to make most of the mixed drinks, I'd remember them, & within a month or so I no longer needed it. I was all smiles & genuinely loved to serve people. It showed and the tips were very generous. Am 62 now but recall the experience fondly. Jon, Phil & Ashley would be proud.

That's what saves their bar you idiot!!!!! They need confrontation from a leader. A third person party with no bias who publicly humiliates them because he wants to help. They can't take criticism in the first place and instead of taking responsibility they point fingers at each other and continue to sweep the major issues under the rug so that the customers don't see their problems and hopefully return. The problems need to be eliminated and if the customers see that the problems were eliminated they'll come back long term. You can't hide away and avoid your problems in any relationships you have. You have to come clean if you want to progress.

But the fun, or novelty, begins when they let you into the _other_ bar that's hidden away. Thing is, the drinks at both bars are horribly overpriced, even by Manhattan standards. And after your first visit, there's no reason to return as the novelty wears off after that.

Bartender here, no you don't. The fact is that these businesses are full of incompetent employees and incompetent owners. At a good place, all of this is often calculated into a very meticulous and efficient system. Any bar worth it's weight will just fire people who can't keep up. I just have one comment about all of these bar rescues that I’ve been watching and it has to do with the stress test. I’ve been in the restaurant business and a bar owner and rarely has a bus load or two bus loads of people poured into my restaurant and bar all at once. It is almost impossible unless people are totally trained and on top of their shit to be able to serve all these people in 20 minutes.

In my youth I was a waitress in the best Steak House in town. Stayed on the run. So busy no breaks. It was nothing to wait on a private room with 25-30 people at a table. You have to pay attention to your customers and a bright mind to recall who ordered what. Cook / owner was the best!! Great cook and fast. Very fast. #1. If anyone complains about a Steak, apologize, get the Steak back asap! Take another. Because sometimes a steak can have a grissle in it and missed. Not customer fault, not cooks fault, not waitress fault. That happen very seldom. He returns it to the company it waa ordered from. Everyone left happy and satisfied. Waitress left tired and happy they made great money. Every Saturday night at the end of our shift. Cook always complimented us all, and ask each one, you want a Steak or whole Flounder? Cooked for us!!! Great boss. All waitress worked together. Need more tea, make it. Clean off your own tables. Keep silverware wiped, rolled, + napkin. Any extra work. If someone made a mess clean it up, right then. No trash on floor. Always polite, smile, and nice. Waitress helped each other. It was all team work. You didn't take another's condiments from another table if your table ran low. Keep your own filled. Great group of Waitress. It amazes me how slow people working in Restraunts are TODAY and such Lack of Knowledge.. Their Rudeness and the Filth. Lazy. No one works as teamwork , and have no pride in doing a good job anymore I also worked as a bartender. There were no breaks!!! It was go as fast as you can move and always ring up!!!.. the owners girlfriend complained about my service to her + him. So, he ask me. Why aren't you serving us? My reply: I've brought you + her 5 drinks, you don't pay and no tip. Do you want me to wait on you or all your customers? The place was packed! He said, you're right, keep taking good care of the Customers.. (he could see I was going hard!). I then served him + his girlfriend another beer. He thanked me and left good tip. 😊 Then told her to shut up and if she wanted another drink which she didn't need, to get it herself. 😊😊😊
