If you aren't familiar with BnL... well, you probably aren't watching this video. But just in case: this video is entirely composed of clips from all of their previous videos, with mouths digitally replaced so they're singing a different song. It is an editing marvel, and it blew me away the first time I saw it.

It was fun indeed. The 90s were a blast for me .THX , BNL that WAS fun.

I've never seen this video, been a huge fan of the band since about... 2007 when my friend burned me a copy of their greatest hits (the one with this song as the 2nd to last or last song). I never realized this video combined them all together, though, crazy awesome.

Love this group. They made geekiness and nerdiness cool, and I mean it as a compliment. They looked like the kind of guys, when younger, were picked on in school. They had talent, decided to show the world up, and appeared to say "How do like these apples?" to the rest of us through their songs. What other group has done this just as successfully? (Rhetorical, optional to answer)

Wow. I have not watched this music video till now. It really does seem like a goodbye to Steven Page, even more so than You Run Away is (which was half about him). And I can't help but wonder- How did they manage to get Ed and Steve to move their lips to these lyrics in all of their old music videos?? Some crazy editing?
@jenniferbryan57756 жыл бұрын
Definitely some editing happening. They likely did face shots of them singing the song and edited it over the original or used a mocap/CGI effect. If you look at the clip of Ed in the garage from Call and Answer, you can see the editing it. I agree, now that I see the vid again, it is like a "thanks Steve, it was fun"

For me, this marks the end of the Classic BNL period. Maroon is their magnum opus, and this song is the coda. Even before Steven left, their later albums never hit the way those first five did. "No regrets."

I believe on the BareLaked Nadies video compilation dvd, if you watch the band commentary, Ed explains it was a great idea, but didn't realize the work it took to match the mouth positions for the overlays. He (and Steve) had to hold his head in the exact angle that it was in the video because the overlay was cheaper than real CGI.

@davidl570 Жыл бұрын
No, it was after Barenaked Ladies Are Me and Barenaked Ladies Are Men (which were almost companion albums---they both came out around the same time). They even toured behind the former, at least. He left the band after that.
@matthewdaub11 ай бұрын
@@davidl570 He left after snack time. He said that he felt like he was just along for the ride during that album and had no creative input on it. Pretty much saying ed had taken over the band at that point. Weather from a lack of caring for the band on Stevens part, or if ed forced him out of the creative process, is anyone's guess.
