Jon says that greasy food is bad for bowling. How about washing your hands after you use them to eat with? The balls are used by a lot of people. Either someone uses their own ball or the place's ball, it's gonna get oil on it. So wash your hands before and after eating while bowling. Though if the people are at the bar eating, they only have to worry about washing their hands before eating and after they're done eating. Not having to worry about washing before eating, and before bowling. Be sanitary. Pizza is greasy and wings are messy, but those are usually on a bowling alley's/center's menu. Nachos are on a lot of them as well. Those are a staple at bowling alleys/centers. Especially pizza. Messy finger food.

I really love how Jon always points out that the bartenders SHOULD love people who order a ton of drinks. I remember going to a small town bar with a few lady friends of mine from work a few years back and having a similar thought. There were 6 of us, we were all in our 20s and ready to spend lots of money. We started looking up different fancy cocktails, excited to be out and try new drinks we wouldn’t make at home. But the bartender was annoyed, rolling her eyes when we ordered 6 exotic shots and cocktails. I was like “oh I’m sorry, you have a table full of young customers (there was 1 guy other than me and the other 4 were good looking women, exactly the kind of customer you should want) wanting to spend lots of money and you’re visibly irritated that they want to stay and order a bunch of drinks? What’s wrong with you?” I’m just glad that someone else is pointing out that this is NOT the attitude to have in that circumstance lol.
@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
Because the bartenders at bars like that usually don’t care. They’re happy to have the slow pace easy work of a regular crowd otherwise they’d be working at a busy bar in a bigger city. And if the bar itself flops what do they care? There’s a shit load of jobs they can move on to so they’re happy to be lazy. It’s the owner who wants to get the crowd who orders a ton of shit because it matters to them. To a lazy bartender they’ve already accepted not making a lot of money otherwise they’d have left to go somewhere else. So not appreciating what should be a good thing shouldn’t be a surprise because killers don’t stick around in places like that. That’s an issue this show doesn’t always focus on in the sense that the chances that these people who’ve spent time at these places changing is low because they fact they’ve never left says a lot about the lack of drive or desire to hustle for them.
@popperpoppler4569 Жыл бұрын
@@Matt-cr4vv That’s just the thing though, you don’t need to be a killer to appreciate money. Would you rather go home with 40 bucks in tips or 300? Tipping is such a massive part of the income of bartenders, it isn’t like working at McDonald’s where if someone comes through and orders 50 double cheeseburgers it’s just a pain in the ass because you’d make the same either way. A bartender getting upset at people who want to spend money is like getting mad at your boss offering you a raise.

That group of 10 with a 30 min time limit is very easy to resolve. I was a bartender and waitress for 8 years and I have no clue how these people function while drinking. I never took a shot on shift. The closest thing I came to drinking at work was when we had an after hours Christmas gift exchange and I was given a bottle of very nice Sake. I didnt touch it until I got home. That job is non stop movement and you really have to be on your toes. You have to deal with so much stuff. Food orders, crazy drink combos, beer buckets... I mean you name it. We used to serve homemade dumplings that were so good but took about 30 minutes since they were made from scratch. It was worth the wait but we also had people call in and place an order for them to be ready when they showed up. So between the bar, the food, the lines, the pre-orders and everything else in-between, there was NO WAY I was taking drinks. Side note drinking always just makes me sleepy. I don't understand expecting food at a restaurant or bar in 30 minutes -- especially for that large of a crowd. If I go out to eat before a show (or more likely a minor league hockey game) I always showed up at the restaurant at least two hours early. Thirty minutes is ridiculously short to expect good food to come out of the kitchen. One of my uncles owned a pizzeria years ago, he couldn't get a large pizza out of the kitchen in 30 minutes and do it right. It can be done but to get it right it takes at least 45 minutes. He had a Greek partner so they also had gyros and other Greek sandwiches that could get out of the kitchen in 10-15 minutes but the pizzas took longer. However, most people aren't looking for a quick sandwich if they are out before or after a show.
@darkySp Жыл бұрын
@@mharris5047 Excuses me, what ? A pizza taking 30-45 minutes ? What did your uncle do with that pizza for 30-45 minutes ? I have a pizza chain in my country that bake pizzas with dough, sauce and toppings of your choosing and the time it takes for them to prepare them is around 12 minutes from picking out the dough, to ordering the last topping to getting the pizza freshly baked, all in front of you. And they're one of the best thin crust pizzas you can get around, miles better than Domino's or other popular pizza places we have around. 30 minutes for a pizza to "get it right" ? That's ridiculous, man!

Those goldfish looked pretty small (aka young) and based on the fact they apparently do this often, I'd say ... the goldfish are suffering for this. It kind of reminds me of those old carnivals where you could win slider turtles / goldfish, I don't think I know anyone who actually kept one alive. Not because they were bad people, but because they were given a living creature as a prize / for momentary entertainment value without realizing goldfish and turtles are supposed to live up to thirty years. Unfortunately the law currently doesn't see this kind of thing as animal abuse but just judging on the faces of the people in the bar, you can tell they feel bad for the fish. Gotta make it really scummy to make a bunch of people feel bad for a fish. Lol. I raise bettas and shrimp and seeing people treat fish like this makes me extremely upset, a lot of people don't realize how smart and long-living fish are.

Who goes out to eat only 30 minutes before a show?

That was my thought. Thirty minutes is not enough time to sit down and enjoy a meal

I had to scroll down way too far for this comment. 10 people would NEVER get served and be able to eat in 30 mins. You could barley do that at a fast food restaurant let alone a bar while getting drinks. That was a joke lol

For an episode that featured bars with questionable activities, how did the bar involving the lobster tank and claw NOT make this cut?

That second bar is my element. I’m a bartender at an airport bar. Speed and efficiency is the name of the game. You gotta serve a lot of people and very fast because people have flights. Occasionally on delayed flight days you’ll have people hang out but generally check times average 20 minutes at the high and 2 minutes at the low.

The food they are spitting out halfway through the video looks waaaay better than what they serve in my hometown. Lol. We have 3 bars and not even a stop light.

Quite a change in Mike Draper in the first segment. He reminded me of Alastair Sim playing Scrooge in the 1951 version. Mean spirited and vile turned into a whole new person later in the episode. Except he wasn't visited by Marley's Ghost and three Christmas spirits. His life was turned around by one man who played all four entities, Jon Taffer.

Bowling alleys and roller skating are back. We have 8 kids and the four boys oldest boys are just drinking age. Everyone is looking for roller skating first and then bowling. Three of the four live in different states, far away from each other and they all go to those places every weekend and order food too. It went out for a long time, but it is definitely coming back
