The black-and-yellow guitar on the back of the "Van Halen II" album, known as "Bumblebee" is buried with Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell. Eddie Van Halen placed it in Dimebag's "Kiss Kasket"at his funeral because Darrell had said it was his favorite...KISS and Van Halen were Dimebag's fave bands growing up. RIP.

Their concerts were bangers. Mosh pits, crowd surfing, topless girls on boys' shoulders, we had it all. Nobody who's seen them live could describe the awesomeness to you, or make you feel a percentage of what we feel when we're taken back to those concerts. So, you'll just have to settle for their recordings. I still have Dimebag's guitar pic that he tossed to me too.

Cleveland? My daughter and Dimes daughter are best buddies. I had given them tickets to Marilyn Manson’s show here in Dallas. The phone rang and my daughter said that Tara’s dad had been shot onstage. I thought he had made an appearance at Manson…but she didn’t know what to tell Tara. I told her to call her mom. I had known Dime since we were young adults. The only person that could get me to do beer bong. He always had a smile and a hug. He let me be the first person to ever play them on the radio. Pantera, at one point, was hair metal-spandex and all. Then they got Phil as singer and the rest is history. Darrell won many guitar contests here, as did Stevie Ray Vaughn. Great memories. Simplest riff that Dimebag Darrell came up w/ for the 1992 Pantera album 'Vulgar display of power'... For Pantera to go even heavier than 'Cowboys from hell' in 1990 was a major achievement, but there were just moments of pure brilliance from the band on that record - 'Walk' was the basic, angry stomp... Others like 'This love'... and 'Hollow' added some subtle acoustic guitar for variety as well. But it was the raging bull that was Pantera on songs like 'Mouth for war' ... 'A new level'... 'F+++ing hostile'... that always ignited their crowds into a moshing frenzy 🤘🤘🔥🔥

My older sister use to party with Pantera when they were a glam band in the 80s. The Abbott brothers use to go over to her and her roommates apartment after shows at local clubs they played before making it big. Eveh when they changed their sound(totally different the 80s vs their 90s sound) When they came in town Dimebag and Vinnie would call up my sister and her friends and meet at Carties or another local music club after the concerts. She didnt like the Pantera version we all are listening to here. She was more into their Glam Metal years, but she always welcomed them into town to party with them. Sad about Dimebags death and his brothers passing. My sister always talked fondly of them, and how down to earth they were evwn after making it big. I'd only briefly meet them once, but they were the nicest guys. They knew I loved VH(from my sister telling them) and when we meet the first thing they did when i walked towards them to shake their hands waa to look at each other then at me and they Yelled VAN HALEN! Hahaha. We high fived n chatted a few mintues. Hell of nice guys!

Pantera started out as a hair metal band in 1981. They released three totally different albums produced by Jerry Abbott. The father of Dimebag Darryll Abbott and Vinny Paul Abbott. They had different stage names back then. Vocalist was Terrence Lee Glaze or Terry Glaze. Dimebag called himself Diamond Darryll and bass player Rex Brown was Rex Rocker. They released Metal Magic (1983), Projects In The Jungle (1984) and I Am The Night (1985). Glaze left in 1986 and Philip Hansen Anselmo joined in 1987 and they changed their style. Check out early Pantera - All Over Tonight. More glam metal but a great long guitar solo. Also check out Anselmo in Down - New Orleans Is A Dying Whore and Ghists Along The Mississippi

Ha Ha! THE TEXAS STATE ASSAULT TEAM! That’s what I like to call them. I’m TEXAN and have seen them live on 7 different tours. Their best tours, their best albums. I’ll tell you what, these guys in a smallish club is like getting in a fight with Mike Tyson in a closet. I’m exaggerating of course but it’s pretty damn intense. Audio, visual overload, complete sensory devastation with your hair on fire. That’s what Point Blank PANTERA was like. I was up against the front barrier in a club they played in San Antonio in the early 90’s and it was hands down the best club show I’ve ever seen. The place was packed and they had their entire show crammed in there! The lights alone were over the top! Blinding, fast and disorienting! Timed perfectly with the drums! Were these stage lights? Oh no, not PANTERA, these were airport landing lights! Made big and bright so airplanes could land at night! PANTERA had 2 banks of these in a fucking club! Flanking Vinnie on both sides of his drums and were perfectly timed with his rapid fire playing. I’m telling you, it was a helluva thing to witness! TEXAS! 😁 Dude’s name is Phil too.👍 Ha Ha! Fucking cool. Yeah, I was there.

Anything you listen to from Vulgar Display Of Power or Far Beyond Driven is going to be a banger! Also, the Nickelback song Side Of A Bullet is about Dimebag's unfortunate death, and also includes guitar work of his. After Pantera disbanded, most of the band (minus Phil) went on to form the band Damage Plan. It was at one of their shows that a fan with obvious mental health issues who blamed Dimebag for breaking up Pantera shot him during the performance. RIP

There's a video online of dimebags murder that's kind of hard to find now. It doesn't show him getting shot but it does show the crowds reaction as it happened. The camera was back of stage facing the crowd. The crowd jerked back and they thought it was part of the show. The music stopped with lots of screaming. Eventually a trooper with a shotgun was being pulled into the frame by a stage hand. The trooper exits the frame toward the gunman and you hear the shotgun blast. The trooper comes back into frame practically dragging the shotgun behind him. The trooper was in shock. RIP Dimebag. He was buried with Eddie Van Halens guitar who was present at the funeral. Eddie was Dimebags idol.

I don’t care what anyone says. I’m Broken is my favorite Pantera song. No questions asked. Or, maybe the art of shredding.

Yeah, I was at this party one time that had this live band with a couple dudes. I knew in it, and the band knew how to play this song, but the singer couldn’t sing it so they talked me into singing it for them and I was nervous as hell. Had my back to the crowd like Jim Morrison used to do and then when I got into it, I turned around but I rocked it out. It was pretty damn good and a whole lot of fun.
