Not being inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Shame should be a badge of honor. No rock band should want to be inducted into an organization that thinks a list of "legendary rock musicians" include Tupac Shakur, Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah, Mary J Blige, NWA, Madonna, Michael Jackson, ABBA, Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer and on and on and on... and on and on...

In 1981,. I was still 10,11 years old. My father had died the year before and mom was trying to get me out of the depression and insisted that "Tomorrow you must go in to school, and pick an instrument to play, you are joining the band." My moody pret een self stormed to my room and cranked my stereo in defiance. The first song that came on was "URGENT" by Foreigner with one of the hottest saxophone solos in history. The next morning, I chose the saxophone, and became a natural. I went on to play trumpet as well a couple years later, and my senior year, I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan, and, also, the movie "Crossroads"(Ralph Macchio, Joe Seneca, Jami Gertz,.......blue guitar movie) and I now play guitar, bass, and a little keyboards as well. It has been 43 years now, and music is my only religion, my only spirituality, my only sacred belief system. And it rocks!

Thanks for listening to this song. Jukebox Hero has always been my favorite from them. Finally inducted into Rock Hall of Fame last month. They've had a great set of musicians over the years, and Lou Gramm offered vocals that at times reminds one of a Robert Plant. They were around for the Arena Rock Era. Songs that ranged from ballads (which almost split the band up with their inclusion). You haven't listened to Waiting For a Girl Like You. Take credit for that one Phil, as Sam will love it. To power songs that could fill the arenas and stadiums. They have a deep catalog. For some reason many of their titles could take place in an emergency room. Hot Blooded, Cold As Ice, Urgent, Head Games, Headknocker.

In 1991, I was a junior in high school. I got last-minute tickets to the Whitesnake Slip of the Tongue show with Steve Vai at the Portland Memorial Coliseum. The seats turned out to be amazing. After the show, I was the first out back at the buses, waiting to meet the band. Tommy Aldridge came out briefly, and I got to say hi to him. Steve's guitar tech gave me a Vai guitar pick, and I even got to say hi to Tawny Kitaen. This was all pretty standard back then. The cool part, and what this song reminds me of, is that I was that kid sitting on the curb at the Coliseum, waiting for my mom to come pick me up. I saw the tour bus pull out and head away. Tommy was in the doorwell, talking to the driver. As they drove off, they opened the door, and Tommy gave me a wave goodbye. One of the most awesome moments of my life.

Foreigners first four albums are absolute rockers with no bad tracks. This tour was the second time I saw them live in 1982, the first was Head Games in 1979. For this song they had a giant jukebox that they inflated during the song and then blew it up at the end of the song with smoke and fireworks. The opening act for the show I saw in 1982 was this young guy that only had two albums out and was working on his third and he played what would be the title track to his third with the song Cuts Like A Knife. Bryan Adams put on a great show.
