so you have to go thru the museum to get to the Sistine Chapel. it's the only way in. when i was there people literally ran all the way thru the museum to get to the chapel. that's all they wanted to see. they have no idea how much they missed.

I have been to St.Peter’s Basilica. It is Beautiful. I’m a Cradle Catholic (Catholic since birth) and when I walked into the Basilica, I wept. To see the rich History of my Faith just overwhelmed me. Pope John Paul II the Great was still alive, but they already had His tomb ready. They do that for every Pope. We were there for World Youth Day in Paris, but we stayed in Rome for a week. We went to the Grotto underneath the Basilica, it was amazing. I’m surprised that they allowed him to film there. Everything is so fragile there because the age of statues, paintings and relics are so old. I’m really surprised that he filmed the Grotto. When we were there it was strictly forbidden. No one was especially allowed to film in The Sistine Chapel. The light refraction from the cameras were harmful to the paintings. If You want a better tour of The Vatican, go to their website www.vatican.va. They have a virtual tour of everything within the Vatican walls, with the exception of the sleeping quarters and the armory. ❤From Colorado.

i was there in 2018. in the Sistine if the guards saw you taking photos they'd yell at you and then take your camera and make you delete the photos. amazingly i did not even notice the Grotto stairs behind the railing. i was too busy looking up.

So, if all these artworks and glorious buildings are sold, 1) Who will buy them? 2) How will the money be given to the poor? 3) What will the poor do with the money? Invest it? Educate themselves with it? In all likelihood it will be spent, and the poor will remain....poor, AND everyone else will be impoverished becuase the wealthy who can afford artworks lile this (maybe youve noticed, religious artwork is not too popular among them these days) will lock them behind closed doors, depriving the world of their beauty and making it all the uglier. By the way, what have you done for the poor? Does it compare to any of countless Catholic hospitals across the planet who provide medical care to the poor, for free? Have you educated millions upon millions of poor children across the globe, at nearly no charge? Surely you have based upon your self-proclaimed care for them in your comment.

When visiting the grottoes I was glad to understand that floor is basically the floor of the Old Vatican. And as you could see in the video items such as those columns are the originals from the Old Vatican.

@@genociderjill My Wife and I did the Scavi tour in January 2020 and its definitely is a fascinating insight into the Roman and early Christian graves under St Peters. The tickets are 13 euros each but well worth it. Book well in advance, maybe 6 months before you hope to go as it's ticket only and sell out online very fast

Humans are indeed strange creatures in what they are willing to do and believe. Strange that nobody challenged you for breaking the no photo / video rule. I heard they were very strict with tourists about their dress code and such matters in the Sistine Chapel for example.

I had no idea how elaborate they even build the Grottoes down there. Looks even more stunning than above ground. Never seen pictures before... so thank you for this video! Nevermind the nay-sayers! If they had no chance to go they wouldn't forbid other ppl just even seeing a small part far away on screen!

Wenn es in der katholischen Kirche um Respekt ginge, wäre der Zutritt zu Gräbern nicht möglich. Die Kirche war seit Jahrhunderten auf Geld aus, es hat sich nicht viel geändert. Es soll natürlich Eintritt bezahlt, oder Merchandising gekauft werden. (Und das gibt es am Petersdom zur Genüge.)

Well most of the the vatican interior was designed by Bernini, Raphael and Michelangelo, the st. Petter basilica was build on the tomb of st. Peter itself, actually it was build to be a fortress like st. Angelo castle for the Christians who still were tortured and stuff by the non catholic people... and just in 1929 pivs made a sovereign state of vatican... so yeah nothing to do with crist itself because it was build in turn of what people that followed st. Petter believed until this day.... and btw vatican museum has not only the Christianity history inside, but as well African culture and Egypt culture.. you can see mummy's with over 3000 years way befor Christ itself and other stuff brought out of Egypt...
