Just got back home yesterday afternoon after a week in Charleston, SC seeing fam and doing some fishing! Didn't catch much, but had a GREAT time seeing my old spots I haven't been to in coming up on a couple decades. That "Northern Pike" was actually a chain pickerel. They are the small cousins of Northern pike and they are usually around that size. They are EXTREMELLY DELICIOUS. Always keep them. I've never tasted a better fish.

He wasn't lying. The bowfin really are good to eat. The meat is really soft compared to other fish, so it's a little weird when you're cleaning it, but it's incredibly mild.

Bowfin is good. Chupick is what the Cajuns callem. You gotta clean the fish live and cook it asap or it turns to mush. If it does get mushy they make the best fish cakes.
