Someone might have already mentioned it, but the ad in the newspaper that mentions "Bats in the Basement" is a reference to the BTAS episode "I've Got Batman in my Basement" where Batman teams up with amateur kid detective Sherman Grant and his friends to foil Penguin's theft of a Faberge egg. The kids kept Batman in their basement HQ while he recovered from poison gas and to keep him out of sight from Sherman's mom.

Another thing that I noticed with this adaptation of two face is that usually the damage is on the left side of Harvey's face but this time the acid damage is on the right, and whenever Two-Face gets aggressive and evil, it always shows the clean side implying that Harvey was always this crooked. The acid burn side also looks sad as opposed to looking like a monster like in other adaptations, showing that he has regret for his actions and the consequences of those actions.

Basil Karlo’s makeup guy, Jack Ellman is modeled after Jack Pierce - the makeup legend that created the original Frankenstein Monster with Boris Karloff. Also, the sword fight on the stairs was an homage to Adventures of Robin Hood which features Basil Rathbone as the villain.

All of the newspaper headlines were references to BTAS episodes or their characters 13:11 Lincoln March was Dr. Kirk Langstrom's father-in-law who theorized bats would be survivors of the next cataclysm in "On Leather Wings." 13:23 Sherman was the name of the boy that saved Batman from the Penguin in "I've Got Batman in my Basement." 13:40 Hill and Reeves are callbacks to Mayor Hamilton Hill and Councilman Arthur Reeves from both the comics and the animated series/Mask of the Phantasm 13:47 Valestra was a reference to Salvatore Valestra from Mask of the Phantasm, played by Abe Vigoda. 14:07 This is a reference to the episode "Heart of Steel." Karl Rossum's daughter was killed in a car accident and motivated him to create HARDAC and its duplicants

Thanks, I was about to write a post about Hamilton Hill & Arthur Reeves, who had a feud because they both ran for mayor at the same time (and Rupert Thorne was behind the whole thing, backing Hill and sabotaging Reeves while pretending to help him). When it comes to Mr March and the zoo, I was also thinking about Kirk's father-in-law, but turns out that his full name in the DCAU is apparently Robert March? I don't remember his full name being used in the 2 episodes he appeared in... time for a rewatch I suppose. I just have to say, if they wanted to give Kirk's father-in-law a full name, then Lincoln was unfortunate since Lincoln March is such a prominent Bat-rogue. Heck, he was even the proto-Big Bad of that 2023 *Gotham Knights* TV show failure (that wasted a perfectly good Harvey Dent played by Misha Collins).

@ScreenCrush the easter egg from TAS at 14:08 of Mr Freeze, is not actually about Mr Freeze. The reference here is actually about a 2-part episode in TAS where batman fights a rogue supercomputer called H.A.R.D.A.C, which creates very strong lifelike machines which were made to recreate the creators daughter, who is the scientists daughter referenced in episode 5 of CC, if what the newspaper is about this scientist, then a remake and/or adaptaion of the 2-part episode could be coming in the future

13:12 "March gives bizzare (sic) lecture at Gotham Zoo" is most likely a reference to Dr. March the bat expert, voiced by the late René Auberjonois, from the BTAS episode "On Leather Wings." 13:24 As others have noted, this ad is a reference to "I've got Batman in my Basement," the first BTAS episode featuring Penguin as the villain. The kid who owns the titular basement is named Sherman. 14:38 I'm pretty sure the Pierrot clown is an homage to the Joker's first appearance in the 1960s Batman.

The way they kind of did Harley Quinn for this variation of Batman is actually a very cool twist not to mention that she acts more like Hugo Strange then her comedic self. Something I liked with this show was how they avoided that comic trope of "this persons bad just because" when it came to their villains. They tried to give them actual motivations for doing what they do. Harley Quinn was a good example of that, she was'nt straight up bad, she was more like a twisted version of Robin Hood, making the corrupt and greedy men of power in Gotham give up their fortunes for a better cause.

Nominated for an Oscar for Good Will Hunting, cowritten by Snyderverse Batman Ben Affleck She was in Bronson's Goldeneye, Brosnon was later cast as Dr Fate. Was in Phantom of The Opera, directed by Batman director Joel Schumacher and costarring Patrick Wilson, who was in the Snyderverse Aquaman movies. "Justice League: Action" is a lot like *Batman: The Brave and the Bold* , but with the entire Justice League in the driver seat, not just our favorite non-powered vigilante... Not sure if anyone noticed or mentioned it but it seems like the scarred side of Harvey's face is the "good" side. Maybe I'm reading too much into this but whenever he was calm, focused and nice the scarred side seemed to be focal point of his face. I theorize that the scarred side IS Harvey's persona as someone who did some unsavory things and is welcoming of getting his just due and the unscarred side is Two-Face's persona, the outer shell that Harvey put forward as the do-gooder.

I am a HUGE fan of the iconic Bruce Timm artwork for this series; Justice League, Green Lantern, etc et al. Indeed it was both new and classic simultaneously. Timm’s lines are so clean and razor sharp, they threaten to cut the very animation cels which hold them and, resonate in our mind’s eye well after they have finished playing out on screen. I can’t say enough about how prolific an artist he is; literally carrying the entire DC animated universe on his shoulders for the past 3 decades.

There are so many mistakes in this video, it's impossible to list them all... their biggest blunder is, IMHO, to claim that the Jim Corrigan from that show is the same Jim that becomes the Spectre. Had they read the great *Gotham Central* run, they'd know that this Jim Corrigan (created by Ed Brubaker & Greg Rucka, who both worked on "Batman: Caped Crusader" ) is a corrupt cop who had his non-corrupt colleague Crispus Allen (former partner of Renée Montoya, and who became the Spectre for a while) killed. That's how you know these channels only skim through random wikis to make these videos ASAP to make some quick cash, instead of it being a passion project made by a real fan. Friggin' culture vultures, get off mah lawn!

I just finished the series. Amazing the Easter Eggs with BTAS and with 66. Speaking of the latter, there is a character named Yvonne Frances in one of the earlier eps. Could Yvonne be a nod to Yvonne Craig who played Batgirl in the last season of 66? I don't know of any connection for the name Frances. I commented on another page about a reporter and photographer resembling the Golden Age Comics versions of Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. Could this be a hint that a similar retro version of Superman is coming eventually? After all there was a Superman and eventually and entire Justice League series coming from BTAS.

thing is caped crusader has potential to genuinely be good, the main issue however is run time. biggest example is the Montoya n Harely pairing, it would've been nice to not only flush out their relationship but also see Montoya's reaction to dating a criminal then maybe instead of Harely saving (well attempting to) Barbara she could've had a genuine heroic moment n save Montoya, or we could've gotten a better reasin for why she was obssessed with stopping these "bad men". heck there wasn't even a clear overarching antagonist n sure maybe it was Two Face but even he (along with almost every other character) felt rushed. Don't get me wrong i enjoyed it just felt like with either more time or more episodes it could've been a great show

@@Sonnix07 Maybe it was a little rushed, but there were plenty of characters aside from the expected Batman/Bruce, Alfred, and Commissioner Gordon who made multiple episode appearances: A number of cops (both good and bad), Barbara Gordon, Harvey Dent, Harley Quinn, Thorne, and O'Brien. Also, they stated that they didn't want to make the episodes too dependent on each other so that you could watch a single episode as a self contained story (aside from the last 2 episodes). Although, I don't really agree with that for shows that are exclusively released on a streaming service and can easily be watched in order.

In episode 5 Harley mentions a club being on Wilson and Lowery which is a reference to the first two actors to play Batman in the 1940's Lewis Wilson and Robert Lowery. In a later episode the name Dozier is mentioned which is probably a reference to William Dozier the man who created the 1966 Batman TV series.

Some notes: -It's not Jack the ripper in The Lodger, but the vampire in the lost London after midnight with Lon Chaney. There's a recreation of a famous Lon Chaney photo in one of the dressing rooms at some point in that same episode. -The Jack Ellman is modeled after Jack Pierce, the makeup artist at Universal who created the Frankenstein makeup for Boris Karloff. -Val Lewton was the producer of Cat People. -There's several classic 40's comic panels in the police board. -The add for bats in the basement is a reference to the infamous BTAS episode I've got Batman in my basement. It even mentions Sherman, the kid detective from that episode. -John Tuturro doesn't play Sal Valestra in The Batman, but Carmine Falcone. -Papa Midnite first appeared in Hellblazer #1 in the late 80's. -At some point (I don't remember which episode) an address is given as "on Wilson and Lowery". Lewis Wilson was the first actor to play Batman in the 1943 Columbia serial and Robert Lowery played him in the 1949 serial. -The reporter who asks Bruce about Dent at the carnival looks a lot like the original Vicki Vale. -The Gray Ghost book Alfred is reading is by Max Grantwell. Maxwell Grant was the seudonym Walter Gibson used as the author of The Shadow.

Fun facts: Harvey Dent / Two Face was voiced by Diedrich Bader, who voiced The Batman in the animated series "The Brave and the Bold", and Natalia 'Nocturn' Knight was voiced by "Ghostbusters Afterlife & Frozen Empire" actress, McKenna Grace. She did a fantastic job, and I hope we can see more of her character in season 2. Some of the side characters were also voiced by Jon DiMaggio (Bender from Futurama, and Aqua-man from The Brave and the Bold)

Other folk have already pointed out, but the 7:22 is definitely London after midnight not the lodger. Also, Basil seems to be an amalgamation of a number of real life folk, no one has mentioned it yet, but his physical design seems to have some Peter Lorre to it. Similarly an excellent actor, but his appearance had him relegated to the villain instead of leading man

Great vid, but you got a few Easter Eggs quite wrong: 1) The actor getting direction (top hat, sharp teeth) is an homage to Lin Chany Sr. in the silent film 'London After Midnight' 2) The makeup artist's outfit isn't based on Bruce Wayne's scientist smock. His outfit and face are based on legendary makeup artist Jack Pierce, who created Karloff's makeup for Frankenstein's monster 3) Finally, the swordfight with Karlo is an homage to the final fight between Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone from 'Robin Hood'. The clip you showed was from the 1920's 'Zorro', while Bruce's parents took him to see the 1940 version with Tyrone Power.
