So glad you did this...however as a former paramedic who became ♿ handicapped in 2012. The way people treat me differently now is shocking. They are often kind in openning doors or asking if i need anything .However i am treated as non existent or unimportant in meetings..my own confidence has been chipped away. When i mention elevators not working or the handicap chair to the pool not working. I am dismissed. Yet i watch a friend of mine with Charisma go in and things are fixed asap.

I’m sorry you’re going thru this. 🙏🏻 I do understand what you’re saying. The older I get the more dismissed I feel as well. Hope things improve for you.

You still have it! ☺️ Para medic now Para plegic - a World apart in a few letters in a word. But for you to become a paramedic it took brains, inner strength, persistance, a lot of knowledge, being a good empathic and compassionate communicator, being good at stress management and a lot more👌 Im sorry you had to go thru all that, but now; dont look back - you’re not going that way 😘

I am also a former Paramedic and now I am disabled as well. Confidence is really hard when you’re entire world changes. Fake it to you make it? Idk I just try and most of the time my face tells on me no matter what I say 😂

I have adhd and had a brain stem stroke about a year ago. I work from home and found I am a much better worker because I am not trying to read body language in meetings and am just focusing on the message which has made me a much better employee because I am able to take my insecurities out of the mix. My confidence has grown and I am able to speak up more and I chalk it up to the fact I cannot see their reaction which frees me in a sense.

I feel that I fit under the warm category 98% of the time. I don't try to make friends, but I feel that most people tend to like me naturally because I am easy to talk to and I do empathize with others. I am an over thinker as well and I 2nd guess myslef often (like should that "2nd" be spelled out?) I am really enjoying this session as I do with all of your podcasts. You have the most valuable speakers! Thank you for that! 🧡 -Adair

🌼🌸💓Wow!! Mel Robbins this has been probably by far one of the most interesting topics ever. Come to realize this is probably why I’ve been single for so many years I’ve given up dating for about 12years At my age 50+ I’m Beautiful and athletic, independent warm charming woman but my god very highly shy Now that I think of it I believe it has to do with giving out the wrong impression because of shyness maybe even a bit of insecurity as to being judged and not liked.🧐

In the beginning you mentioned that you’ll be able to tell what someone thinks of you in the first 15 minutes of meeting you. I don’t really care what they think of me. I am a really cool person I’m very outgoing and friendly and have a lot of positive traits that I think should make a good impression. So basically it would only be if someone had a bad impression of me that I would need to know about. If someone has a bad opinion of me, it’s really none of my business because it won’t affect me. Especially if I don’t care! If someone doesn’t like me I figure that God has weeded them out of my life and it’s not someone I would want in my life anyways. So in the end, i’m better off without them around.

This was very interesting. But the one thing that hit me the hardest was what Mel said about Best. I have been using that word for years and I mean it because I use it with people that I care about. And I think it may be a generational thing because I’ve been using it since I met a Navy guy back when I was in my 40s in the 1990s. It was not phony for me, but I’m not going to be using it anymore because I’m trying hard to communicate with people 20 years younger than me. And listening to you talk about how you perceived the word Best when it wasn’t the intention behind the word means that that word’s meaning has changed. Sadly, but there it is.
