I am 50 and still don't know what I want to be when I grow up! I went into a line of work that I ended up loving but there are so many other things I want to study and be but my point in life now is to be the bee! :-)

Don’t get a job because it’s high paying, get it it because you ENJOY it.

Well said! (And hopefully it's something God is calling you to do.)

You're right. I was a programmer for 8-9 years. Well, even as a student (in the beginning) I had an interest in computers but didn't understand many things. Due to family pressure to find a job quickly, I started working in programming. Yes, I was earning good money. And I bought material things that made me temporary happy, and changed many jobs, but I was constantly under stress as I always encountered dishonest management. Liars, aggressive Bosses, hypocrites, etc. - so much that I think I got trauma from it. And for 2 years now, I don't want to even look at code anymore - I hate it. So I've been unemployed for almost 2 years. I don't know where or how to go, I'm not even sure what talent I have (I think about programming and I didn't have talent for it), so what you said is absolutely true. And the video also helped me a little bit, more or less.

Such an important message! As an adjunct professor, THIS (in more secular language) was what I spoke about most often. Although I was teaching photography and graphic design, what mattered most to me was that what my students were learning helped inform them and form them into better thinking, more creative, fulfilled human persons. A job is secondary to fulfilling the image of God in each of us. It doesn't hurt to be able to provide a stable income for a family one day too. But, God always takes care of us when we place Him and His will above our own.

Thanks for passing that message on to your students! We need teachers and adults to help offer that guidance. God bless you!

In my experience attempting to do something I love as a job I ended up taking on the motto: "Never do something you love for money" ... because it will become a chore regardless of what it is. I'm glad I don't get paid to go to church!

Any advice for someone like me who hasn't figured things out yet? I feel like everyone has moved on but me. Everyone around me has married and started families etc, whereas I am nowhere near that. I'm praying for direction, spoken to my priest, read books, yet still haven't figured it out. I'd love to be a mother above all, but finding that right guy has become impossible. It's upsetting and frustrating since i know I am running out of time. *sigh*

Lord have mercy! That's a very difficult thing. Stay connected to your community (priest, family, friends, etc). Share your frustrations. Be open to their advice. God bless you!

No matter how hard you try, when it comes to following God he will always disappoint you. We live in a fallen world, you're not suppose to be happy. If you don't like that fact, then to bad, suck it up and take the pain.

Can you do a video about extraterrestrials? What does the Church say about life on other planets, if anything? Maybe it’s too “out there,” but I think it would be nice to hear, if you can do it. Thanks and I love Be the Bee!
