To exit service mode: do the same thing as entering service mode: rotate cycle selector to any position except 6, press start and FS button at same time, wait 3 seconds, rotate cycle selector to 6, wait 3 seconds, release both buttons.

I'm helping my neighbor with his washer. It is making a horrendous sound because the gears are not fully engaging on the transmission causing it to slip. This has manifested as an ON/SPIN error code in diagnostics. thanks for these videos, they are a big help.

If you are having a speed sensor issue. The speed sensor is located on the motor. It's a 40 dollar part and is easy to change. Don't buy a new motor!!! The sensor and the sensor clip are sold separately so by both parts tossup them out. Mine has went out twice since I have owned the machine and both times its fixed the problem. This video is great for this machine and it tells you almost everything to know. Thanks for taking. the time to do it.

On this model the speed sensor is going to be located on the motor underneath the plastic blower blade. super easy to change out after you remove the motor.

This is great information and appreciate the time you spent getting out to the world. I have the Kenmore version of this unit in our rental and walked through the diagnostics procedure you detailed to find out why it was not running. I had the blocked motor error (on light and spin light). I took the front cover off and found socks and panties inside the cabinet with one of the panties being wrapped around the motor pulley assembly. What I have observed is when in the agitate test, the motor tries to engage with a couple pulses (a couple relay clicks) and then engages solid for about 2-3 seconds and then the motor stops and the spin light flashes. I hit the play/pause again and the motor starts agains for about 1 second and turns off. When I drained the tub and tried the spin feature, a couple clicks with the motor engaging with the clutch and it took right off. Any thoughts on why it will not agitate but will spin? I can rotate the pulley but noticed it does not glide as well as yours in the video when you gave it a push. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Have the same issue. I just bought it used. Socks must have jammed the motor and ripped off 2 little wires. Don't know where they connect to, need to call a serviceman unless someone can tell me where they attach to. Looks like a pink and a blueish green.

Great vid very helpful I used your video to diagnose and clear an obstruction in the motor now there are no error codes and it starts and runs like normal until it gets to wash mode and starts to agitate it'll agitate for like two seconds and then stop and the wash light flashes any helper advice on this issue I would greatly appreciate l

This is a great video - thank you very much!! Is there a way to bypass the lid lock switch? There is probably a way to connect / disconnect wires in order to bypass the switch and magnet combo. In Canada, the replacement part is over $100!

Great video. How can I have separate power cords for the washer and dryer? Currently my GE stackable washer and dryer combo had only one cord. However I understand the washer and dryer have separate circuits so in theory is it possible to separate the power input such that the washer and dryer each has it own separate power cord? Thanks.

Dear Mr. Bearded Guy, Want to start off letting you know I am a retired divorced woman on a pretty tight budget, That being said, I am having trouble with my GE stackable and after watching countless videos (yours are the best)I have learned how to diagnose. The issue seems to be when in diagnosis mode and clicked to heavy after a few minutes it works but when it is switched to light, it does nothing. The rinse and spin lights are green. My understanding is that the problem is with the drain pump. It does not appear to be clogged from looking at it (unless I need to take those hoses off to know for sure) Is it possible for you to post a video on how to change the drain pump? Hi there, I have a stacked GE unit like this that has been sitting in a garage for about a year. Its clean but now that I have moved and need it, the dryer is making a very unhappy motor noise when I turn it on and it'll run for about 5 seconds then shut off with a hot electronics smell. I've unhooked tube to check for blockage on vent and same result. Any ideas?

Nice video, very helpful. According to the diagnostic I've got a bad pressure switch or mother board. How do I test the pressure switch & clean the diaphragm? The machine starts to fill, stops , then goes into wash mode without water BUT if I disconnect diaphragm hose until water fills up to correct level, it works perfectly! Thoughts?

I don't see my issue posted by anyone, or on the video. Mine won't run the diagnostic check and it will start to spin but stop after 2 seconds. Then the 'spin' and 'lid locked' lights flash until I turn it off. The 'on' light never comes on during this problem even though it is definitely on.

So I have this stacked unit and when the washer fills and the agitator kicks it there is a loud grinding/rubbing sound while it is agitating. Also it is very loud in it's spin cycle however it does sound out and the agitator does work. It is such a loud sound though that it is intolerable I was told by an appliance repairman that it was the transmission or a bearing in the transmission and $80 part. At that time I wasn't able to order that part so it was wanting to run this by you and see if you could tell me if it is the transmission or the bearing/pulley alone as it is functional it's just very loud. I would like to possibly order the part online and replace it before selling this unit It was an expensive unit and I hate to just throw it out or sell it for 100 bucks.

just changed gear case was leaking giving me an error ..not it wont agitate although it spun up once nice an smooth and fast but now its just erratic starts to agitate but fails with a blinker tried reseting it erratic will fill but cant seem to complete an operation wondering if its the hall effect sensor or wax motor or mobo oh often i heard some clackty noises the coupler were taking time to click in and the pump seems to run extensively at times before a spin or agitate would take place

Hi I did what you said and the spin error code came up. I did have something wrapped around at the bottom of the motor and I removed it but still nothing working. I noticed there was a loose wire with a little plug on it after i ripped the clothes out. I would send you a pic of wire but not sure how to. Do you think the loose wire might be the reason.

hey dude thanks for the help, was wondering if that little fan thing on the motor is real important, I just pulled the motor on my GE stack and that looks like the only thing that is busted. It was really loose and melted. I think that is why its giving me an error. Thanks for your advice. Frog

Good morning Sir. Sorry to bother you with this, but maybe, since you are the specialist, you can tell me what is going on and how to fix it. I have a GE stackable (here in Mexico it's called MABE), Model #MCL1740PSBB02, Serial # 1510C00058, and it doesn't work. I have 3 lights on constantly, WASH, RINSE and SPIN. I have tried to reset it with no luck. The control board has been replaced in May of this year. The machine worked until last night. I've unplugged it, plugged it back again and with the 3 lights ON, if filled with water and did a cycle. It still has water in it since last night, but it doesn't "drain, spin " or anything. Any suggestions on what could cause all this? Thank you for your time and effort.

No but you can probably find that information in the installation manual. Look up "Ge appliance manuals" Make sure its a GE site as well and search the model number. They may have the installation manual there for you.

I am looking to purchase a 3 ye old GE stacked unit. Nice looking but seller says washer “tends to go off balance but it helps to run on ‘bulky’”. I don’t know the model number. Could this be any easy fix like the rubber straps or should I stay away from it? Thanks.

Could be the suspension rods if it is getting o of balance. Or if the thing wasn’t level. If it is the rods the front ones won’t be any trouble but the back ones will be. You may have to take the dryer off the replace the rear ones. I may stay away from it if I were you. Unless you like challenges. Or it could be as easy as making sure it is level.

No matter what i do. it will NOT fill up with any amount of water!! the code says belt ,according to my son..... but i never saw any washer that would not fill because of the belt... everything else on the washer seems to be workng fine...just low low water level.. actually not enough water to wash out the suds from the clothes... im stumped.... excellent video and explanations sir!! 100--100

Thank you for the information! We didn't hear anything about our problem:) When the washer is in its final spins it sounds like an airplane taking off. We are not able to hear the TV or have a conversation at least 30 feet away because it is so loud. Any advice?

That is the support assembly or (transmission) needs to be replaced the bearing is wore out .

Great videos. Clear explanations and paced so you can follow. A question: I have a GE stacker that won't spin. If you select Spin only, the pump comes on for about 15 seconds or so, then the lid lock makes 4 or 5 clicking noises and the washer shuts down. It's trying to lock but the cam only moves about halfway into place. I replaced the lock but get the same symptoms. If you pull the locking cam closed with your finger when you hit start, the lid will stay locked and the machine runs normally. Would you suspect something else or just a bad replacement lock? I did not see this video until just now, will go back and check for error codes tomorrow. Thanks

@@kenkolen Neal, Jeeze, you want me to remember something from a year ago?? Ha ha. I think I finally figured out that the tenant had bent the washer lid somehow and it was out of alignment just enough to keep the lid lock from fully engaging. I guess that's why when you pulled it closed manually it would work, but it was binding slightly and the lock mechanism just wasn't strong enough by itself. If I recall correctly you could kind of push down on the cover when you started the machine -guess it helped the alignment-and it would lock, then you were good to go. I sold the house right after that and they buyer took it "as was", so I can't give you any long term results. Good luck.

The machine works fine in all temperature combinations with the exception of Hot/Cold. Will stop the washing process until about 15 to 20 minutes and will resume

I have a stackable unit and it is a real pain in the you know what! I cleared the error codes (don't know what the code was or what it meant) and then tried to restart the machine... After restarting the machine using the same wash cycle setting it goes back to rinse cycle and then it fills and empties, fills and empties, fills and empties, fills and empties.... doesn't spin at all or do anything else. I just changed the cycle setting from heavy to medium and now it's finally beginning to spin and do something different. No idea... At least I'll know to look for an error code next time I have this problem. This is happened to me on numerous occasions. Usually, if I just reset it it goes back to normal operation.

Totally became student in the front, glasses on, notebook and pen with highlighter nerd and everything was jotted down on my stone tablets for later reference. 😉 Your tutorial was easy to follow and totally teachable. I now have a scenario for you? Say i have a friend of a friend of another friend's distant fourth cousin on Father's side related to the Beverly Hillbilly clan way back when... When spin button is pushed, the spin thing a ma jig contraption with teeth and motor works great after the decade it takes to slowly connect the teeth... The motor starts to spin and air is blowing in the wind... How can it spin with the belt attached and the belt in protest not moving rebellion still? Wouldn't the belt break or fly off or the motor not spin? Is this magic from those legendary Atlantis/Tartaria genius inventor's?😮😂 Basically, everything is working but the belt but it's attached.... What would you voice about that per chance or happenstance? Fictitiously speaking of course?❤❤❤😊

Mine GE is making that noise on my rinse cycle 😮 would it be my drain pump (like rocks in my washer). My clothes still comes out a little wet like it hasn’t fully did the spin cycle. I need to get my husband to do the test but it’s definitely making noises during the rinse cycle.

Bearded Nathan is AWESOME - He'll getcha runnin' again!!! Send him a DETAILED message, not, 'My washer's broke, how do I fix it', tell him what it's doing and what you've done to figure it out! Then, when he gets you runnin' again, send him some money.....you KNOW HOW MUCH it would cost you to get a technician to your house!!!
