One thing I think the Beasties don't get nearly enough credit for is how complex their lyrics are. Their rhymes are so intertwined and they play off each other so well. True geniuses.

What gets me is how in the world do they remember all those lyrics and dont miss a beat .. just amazing ..
@kylefidure75043 жыл бұрын
I absolutely agree however IMO the use of the distortion on this entire album made them hard to understand and differentiate who was rapping. You have to remember that when this came out there was either no internet or the internet was in its infancy. So we had to rewind and playback alot to understand what they were saying. Or if you were lucky the lyrics were in the tape case or CD. I also put Rage into this category as well. Some of the greatest lyrics that were made inaudible because of the background or effects.

Just coming here to say that, especially with this song. Their lyrics alone represent only a small part of their overall personality, which comes across well in the way the song was sped up during lipsynch playback, so when the video was slowed down to normal speed, they were jumping around in slow motion.

I hope you guys do more Beastie, they are so fun! Some people say they are true MCs as opposed to just rappers, because for Beastie it really is all about the fun and the party and making the crowd laugh and dance and have a good time. They've got clever and funny bars, but on top of that, the voices and attitude and playfulness they use when delivering the lines puts a fun and unique spin on it. Plus nobody does the echoes/layers/turn-taking thing as well as the Beastie Boys. That's their whole trademark. They've got so many hits but I'd especially love to see you guys give a listen to "Three MCs and One DJ" and "Sure Shot" and "Shake Your Rump". They're so fun!

One of my fave songs from one of my fave groups of all time! Takes me back to high school in the early 90s, blasting this CD in my car, and rapping along, of course-not caring who saw me.) ♥️ Only got to see them once live, at Lollapalooza ‘94, but at least I got to see them-unlike other favorite groups who had a member die before I could see them live. (Like INXS with Michael Hutchence; I saw them in ‘06, with JD Fortune singing, and they were still amazing). Dude- The Beastie Boys live were awesome. The people who actually had seats were standing in them most of the time The Beasties were on the stage, especially for songs like this, and of course “Sabotage.’ They were on fire on that stage!🔥
