I love this movie. It shows how an addiction can take over not only the addicts life but the family’s life aswell. This is a lot like what my family went through and everyone keeps talking about Timothee but I mean Steve Carell did an absolutely amazing job portraying how much suffering you go through when a person you love is an addict.

I am a recovering heroin addict, but also used to be a crystal meth addict using multiple times daily for a over a year, but don’t consider it addiction in the sense that I’ve been doing heroin and other opiates for 12 years. I finally got off the streets (was homeless for many years) thanks to my parents, but mostly to my Dad who took me in after I got out of jail for several repeat drug offenses. I put him through hell before I even started living with him, and once I did it was still extremely difficult starting a treatment program and not running back to the city and living my old ways. Thankfully he moved me 2 hours drive into the country and he took a month off work to watch me during my first month out of treatment, despite risking his job for it. This trailer made me tear up thinking of the hell I have put my dad through and how he’s stuck with me to this day. Now I will be three years sober in October of 2018. All of my old “friends” have died from OD’s, suicide, and murder except for my ex girlfriend and one other friend who’s fiancée OD’d not even three weeks ago. I made it out luckily and may not be alive if it wasn’t for the commitment of my parents. To those thinking they’re too far gone to get help - it’s never too late. Anything is possible!

Thanks for sharing your background, and congratulations on your sobriety :) I went through difficulties with my own parents when I went through a period of smoking dope in my early 20s (about 20 years ago now), and my parents were there for me when I needed them. I've never forgotten that, and I feel grateful to be able to give them both a hug hello when I see them every couple of weeks. I hope your journey goes well mate. My favourite line from the movie The Crow: 'It can't rain all the time'.

I now look back and regret not having the balls nor the heart to love those that needed me and was too afraid to really really care for them. I watched this movie shortly before my partner took his own life. We both struggled with addiction. It reminded me so much of him I wanted him to watch it so bad. Never got to do so-together. This is just a trailer and i felt so much emotion from it, this is a great movie, i hope it turns out to be phenomenal. Drug addiction in movies is always taken so lightly or cliched, they go through rehab, they run away, someone says something ‘inspirational’ ,and then out of nowhere happily ever after and it is so much more complex, so much more, there are so many, so many obstacles and pain, so much pain, i hope this movie portrays that.

Still could be a great film. The emotion in that cafe scene alone. Man Steve Carrell can turn it up, amazing his diversity he can go from Michael Scott to this. Although having said that Michael Scott could be fairly heartbreaking at times
