This is fascinating - basically the opposite of everything we've heard for years about "lag" and it makes much more sense. I haven't got a "Pro" but if I swing a club with the feeing of "keeping the rope straight" it illustrates that I have spent years trying to lever the clubhead into place instead of swinging it. The pro produces a more natural swing and eliminates the sense of leverage. Brilliant stuff Brendan, your work ethic and determination have produced a great channel for all of us continually searching for golfs holy grail.

Dan the man! Love the golf swing chat, you’re clearly passionate about it and it shows! Thanks Brendon for all this incredible insight, I’ve worked on a lot of Milo lines teaching principles lately and it’s really helped with the effortless power. Dan’s momentum ideas remind me of malaska and Milo but Dan has explained and showed this fundamental very well with “the pro” 👏🏻

Your swing device reminds me of Ernest Jones who had his students swing a kerchief and penknife to feel their hands creating the swinging motion. They had to keep the kerchief taut. Bob Toski and Davis Love, Jr. mentioned this drill in their book, “How To Feel A Real Golf Swing”.

I've been watching Dan's stuff for a few weeks now and it has given me that, "ah hah moment" in my swing. His theory is proven by tests that have been done on tour pros using GEARS. Those tests show that maximum excelleration peaks in the top third of the swing for tour pros. It feels to me like you fling your arms off the your chest at the top, then just let them swing free and loose letting them pull you through the finish.
@edwinchan65213 жыл бұрын
This goes back to a theory I really subscribe to by Ernest Jones (1950's teach with one leg) and his mentee Manuel De La Torre - "just swing the clubhead". They also have a training device which was a weight tied to a string, kind of just like this! I was reading a scientific breakdown of the forces (like a trebuchet) and the most efficient and powerful swing scientifically is one using centrifugal force which is advocated here too! Really nice to see old age theories getting confirmed by modern teachings and teachers! @Brendan if you fancy the link to the blog/research piece I was talking about let me know and I will send it to you! It's a very interesting reading, also mentions the relaxed wrist release much like the Milo Lines videos you did previously too, very very good content and work in this Covid time. Much appreciated and keep up the good work!

7:12 More on this please. What adjustments need to be made to move the but of the club more forward at impact without ruining the timing of the momentum. Is it more hip rotation?
@MD-kv2gc3 жыл бұрын
What I understand is... Do not try to move the butt of club forward, that's what Dan is saying and many other teachers - the handle forward is a consequence of other aspects of swing, in particular heavy relaxed shoulders, and good grip (firm) but with loose relaxed wrists. Don't try to do it, it will happen if you do the sequence and momentum transfer smoothly.
@dand13632 жыл бұрын
Does this mean we should be thinking about getting clubs with higher swing weights or should not that matter?
@thomasfraser90723 жыл бұрын
Both of you are talking about actually transferring momentum from the handle of the club to the club head which actually begins at the top of our downswing; and not, at the shallowing end of our downswing swing where many of us tend to “throw the club head away”. When we throw the club away we actually slows the club head down prematurely before we complete our swing. The idea with the Pro is never stopping the pushing motion of the handle that transfers to the equal and yet opposite pulling motion of the club head. If your body knows how to push a kid on a swing it also knows how to push the handle of a golf club at the transition of your downswing and through to the finish of your swing. Trust me the ‘Pushing’ of the handle at the top of your downswing will repels the club head causing it to pull on your hands. The club head pulling on your hands as you equally push the handle with both hands automatically creates the desired lagging of the club head at impact and through to the finish of your swing. It’s that simple as long as both your wrists must remain passive and unlocked throughout your entire swinging of the club. Cheers

Great video, same path of angular momentum as the "Holy Grail" plane board videos that are out there. This works like magic, it is the only force you need, no 'hit', no late force added, just down the plane board about a foot or two down the shaft, straight at the ball-target line, never at the ball or target. The club does the rest following the laws momentum. Think "Holy Grail" of golf move or Mike Hebron teachings....

Hey, great video, maybe tell Dan another good analogy for transfer momentum is like a figure skater when they spin really fast in place but skaters do in the opposite direction, arms to core. They swing arms and then put arms in close and they spin faster. Transfer momentum in golf is from body out... like flinging your arms with your core/body. Rotate core from the ground, that flings ur arm, goes in the club and you align it to strike the ball.

From 16:30 to 18:50, when Dan is distilling down this concept it's essentially the follow on to a Pete Cowen video I saw on here. Cowen's thesis is "the club , as a result of gravity, wants to return to the address position, and our job is to Manage the Mass so the club is useful". Dan really brings it home.
