Can you do a video on your experience being dietitian in a 9-5 job (things you liked/didn't like)/finding a job as an RD after you passed? Also I would love to see a house tour!

Hey Hannah! I am a Dietitian as well and I work 8-5 at WIC (Women, Infants, and Children). After passing the RD it really depends on where you live and what opportunities there are around you, but a lot of jobs are hospital jobs! I am one that really likes community nutrition so I like to be out in the community rather than a hospital so it was kind of hard for me to find something. I love the routine, but also hate it ha. I don't like sitting at a desk for 8 hours in a day but it pays the bills and I get to talk about nutrition which is what I love!

I’m in a group of 10 interns, and we were given our dietetic internships through our university so we had the pleasure of shoving our undergrad and internships all in 4 years. We are in our final semester now and one of the interns sent this video in our group chat tonight as we were stressing over our prep course. Thank you for all the info! It’s nice to see someone so positive in the field :)

Hi! I wanted to leave a comment supporting your channel, your education and your content. So hard to find balanced healthy videos that are also relatable. I live in Mexico and I don't have access to as many grade A or organic choices, but your videos are inspiring and move me to do the best that I can. I have a husband who is a picky eater and I used to live a somewhat sheltered life (I mean that groceries were bought by someone else and I had a paid cook) before my marriage, so it's been hard trying to put healthy food at the table, week in and week out, with basically no knowledge or practice. But as you hoped at the end of your "infamous video" (lol), you have definitely helped me with knowing my way around the produce section! Not scared of buying asparagus the next time a go grocery shopping! Keep on keeping on! You eat a lot more plant based than I do. Not an ounce of shame in that. People need to learn how to express their thoughts without being insulting. I have no idea where they get that they are more entitled to express an opinion than the next person. And just a side note for anyone who got this far and is planning on going for my throat, I take care of over 100 stray cats and about 20 dogs out of my own pocket. I also don't wear or support real fur products or own any exotic leather goods. I try to do my part with what is laid out before me. I just don't see veganism working for me.

Thanks for sharing! its so interesting to see how the dietetics programme is different in different countries. Where I studied, we had a 4 year undergrad which included our honours and internship ( we didn't have get matched, or apply for it. Our university placed at at various places for the year. ) Then after our internship we had written and oral exams for therapeutic nutrition, community nutrition and food service.. and then the combined scores of the written and orals exams as well as our scores from our internship determined whether we passed or not. Our exams weren't multiple choice though. It was mostly case study type questions and then for our oral exams it was actual dummy runs in a hospital setting for therapy, and sit down oral exams with a panel of lecturers from our university and other unis and some from the department of health.

@E.I.C.C_Onwer7 жыл бұрын
Could you do a video all about how to become an RD? Like from choosing a school and how long you went to school, any online. then any internships you had to do or just what all it entailed. I'm really interested!
@rebekahmatznick_rd7 жыл бұрын
Hey Judi! I am an RD so thought I could help answer this question! To become and RD you have to get a Bachelor's at an accredited institution in Dietetics! You can find a list if you google it I believe. Then you have to apply for a year-long (most of them are unpaid) internship so that you can get your practice hours! In order to do the internship you have to have your bachelors in Dietetics and it's a centralized application process! After that you can sit for the exam! The internship is super competitive- I didn't get one the first time but did the second time around! Hope that helps!
@theveganrd57707 жыл бұрын
Rebekah Lea Nutrition you can also apply to a bachelors coordinated program in dietetics where your internship is within your 4 years of schooling :) def the best option if there is a coordinated program near you!

Great tips! I will say; I purchased the RD in a Flash flashcards and for me it was a total waste of money. There are just a ridiculous amount of cards with an excessive amount of information on them. Some of the stuff on them I had never even heard of and was definitely unnecessary to know for the exam. I never even made it through all of flash cards once. Just my two cents for anyone thinking about getting them!
@BeccaBristow7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Melissa! And I can totally see that there are SO MANY cards!! When I was skimming through them online I was like how would anyone ever be able to get through these enough times for them to be beneficial?? Craziness haha

I found you not too long ago, and I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!!!❤️ I'm reading as much as I can about this interesting field. I know there's like a test dietitians take every year or every other year, after becoming RD. Unless I misunderstood lol😅 I have a couple of questions. What kind of test do you take every year? What does it cover or what does it review? Thank you in advance for your answer.
@BeccaBristow7 жыл бұрын
Aw thank you so much!! And omg no way you only have to take the RD exam once! Lol you do have to complete continuing education though (you have to obtain 75 credits every 5 years) in order to keep your credential, or you have to take the test again

Gabriela Londono some people just have naturally whiter teeth than other people. When I got my teeth whitened my dentist said that 10 people could use the same teeth whitener and all have different results. Some people's teeth will only lighten to a certain point and others will lighten a lot more.
