GidgetnSweetpea LaCarter every summer i have a hell here because I open my windows and have wasps coming in several times everyday and I have to kill them because they literally try to build nests in my living room! I have had to destroy their half finished nests everytime i've ignored them for more than an hour! I think thanks to that, my fondness to bugs have diminished profoundly lol!

I tried to ignore it first time and I worked up one morning having the yellow jackets just hovering inches from my face like he was contemplating whether to chase me off or allow me to sleep in my own apartment! That's when I knew it has gone to far. I destroyed the nest it had already build during two days and I hoped it would get the message. When it came back in and saw the nest gone, it just started with a new. There was no way I would allow that. So...you know the rest. This is my life every summer.

One time I was walking home on a warm summer afternoon when I stumbled upon a bumblebee that was walking on the ground, struggling, not being able to fly due to dehydration. I picked the little fella up, put it in my open bag and brought him home. When I got home I left the door open that leads to the backyard beforehand. After some googling I read that you should feed dehydrated bees some sugarwater, so I did. After like 10 to 20 minutes he was getting more and more active before he finally started flying. The part which I'll never forget is how he flew, almost float like a good 10 seconds in front of me, before he took off to the open. I still firmly believe to this day, that he was showing gratitude to me for saving him. That was one of the happiest moments of my live. 🐝

I had a similar experience with a wasp. When you are in a position to save a living thing.(that you don"t like and are allergic to) i decided to save. I got the same response that you did. The wasp repeated the thank you "fly by " the next day as well. This was a little scary for me but it expanded my understanding and apprecation for life on this planet. There is much that we don't see or understand.

I'm convinced they are: A few years ago, I took home a worn out bumblebee I found close to my house and offered it a mixture of water and sugar. Normally they will immediately start eating and drinking, but this one didn't. After my third attempt, it actually turned and looked at me. It seemed she understood what I was trying to do, but simultaneously indicated it was no use. I was amazed that this interaction actually happened, and sad that the bee no longer wanted to live.

Big old Bumblebees really are gentle old souls. Their stinger is not for you, besides it's truly a case of something that hurts them way more than it hurts you. One got inside my shirt one time when I was riding my motorcycle, traveled several miles with me sitting on my bare shoulder until I reached in to see what was itchy and pulled out a live 🐝. I was not stung.

You'd think only the "higher levels" of animals would be able to communicate with people, but no one will convince me this little dear did not grasp the kindness and safety the woman offered her. Eating, sleeping in her hand....exploring her new home....and finally spending her last moments in the hand of her friend. Every living thing is if the utmost importance. I've been saving insects for decades now, and it constantly amazes me how they respond to my intention to help them. They go where I want them to, either into a container or even onto my hands when they have no logical reason to do so. All life is amazing and as a species, we minimize how amazing (sentient, conscious and deeply feeling) other species are as well, as though we had a monopoly on being sentient. Hopefully, all these new studies showing how intelligent other animals are (using tools and what not) will help to change our collective minds.

Never be frightened of a bee! They will only ever sting if in danger as they know it means the end for them too. I've had many a close encounter with friendly bees and saved a couple myself by feeding them, even saving one from drowning! We cannot survive without the bee and we need to take special care of them.

Bees are generally cool, as long as you don't bother them or step on them, they can be kind of calming to watch while they're buzzing around minding their own business. Wasps and hornets on the other hand are hell beasts who cannot be trusted.

@@Panda72021 We have hornet close to our house... now the second year. Never problems with them, they are just big fellas minding their own business. We are often outside, eating. They never come for a visit, never. We had Wasps the years before, but since Hornets live close to us, no assh... Wasps anymore. This big guys are very very useful... Btw, Hornets inject less venom than Wasps in case they really attacks.

Same with spiders. People don’t realize that many spiders are quite docile and usually only bite when threatened or smooshed. I wouldn’t advise picking up any venomous spiders that could do harm though.!

I watched this the other year and today after a day and a half of finding a tired bee I brought her in as she was also on the same flower I left her and made her a little house for her to relax in until she gets her strength back, Ive sat with her for 3 hours as she wouldn't leave my hands, needed something to cheer me up and that little precious being has given me that and more.
