Bee Man Vs Crawl Space Full Of Bees!
This one was a bit of a challenge folks as this colony was in a tight spot in the Crawl Space of a house in Gretna, Louisiana!
Really didn't have a whole lot of room to work but I got it done!
The colony was very gentle & absolutely beautifully configured with lots of fresh honey!

I am located in within 10 miles of New Orleans, Louisiana where winters are very mild which is great for the bees!
I do most of my work in southeast, Louisiana but will go just about anywhere to fool with bees.

Thanks for the awesome videos! It took 4 years for Michael Angelo to paint the ceiling of the Sistine chapel. Much of this was done while on his back. But I would not think he'd have a harder time with bees. Keep up the great videos - the music is like meditation.

Amen to that! I'm EXTREMELY allergic. I carry an Epi-pen everywhere when it's warmer weather. Anaphylactic shock has made me leary of them.

Hey JP. Awesome video. I asked you about a hive removal a couple months ago in a fire place. Well I finally got time and removed the rock/mortar/tar paper/plywood. Found them. Got a box full o bees with brood and honey. Also came home with 5-5gal. buckets of hunny. Then the work started. Hand crushing into a screen. Got a heck of a grip now I’m thinking. Again thanks for the videos and encouragement.

I worked in crawlspaces for the first twelve years of my working life, so I can relate to the cramped space. But I did not work with thousands of bees. I would love to know how many stings you took in that removal. This was not a job for anyone other than a first class professional.

Joe, I really didn’t take many intentional stings during this entire process believe it or not. The few I did get were accidental stings on my part, just having bees underneath me & stuff while working in such tight quarters, almost unavoidable. Very gentle bees indeed!

For some reason, for the life of me I failed to mention the foul odor coming from underneath the house, the entire time I was there! We think a possum likely died underneath the front porch, it was pretty nasty!

I especially liked the music choice for this one. It was almost hypnotic near the end when you were looking for the queen and the camera was filming the bees on the board. It looked like some were fanning. And good to see Schawee (sp?) back. With all that said, being in that confined space and trying to work would not be possible for me. Not to mention dealing with other creepy crawlers in that area. I am too claustrophobic as I age. That definitely took some patience and skill. Well done!

Small safety suggestion from a retired US Navy engineer who had to work in a lot of tight spaces like that: safety glasses to keep stuff from falling in your eyes.

Always glad when you pass on information like about bee allergies. My late father was one of those few who were deadly allergic to bee stings. I have kind of a half-allergy: If I'm stung below the waste, I get an itchy knot for a day or three, but if I'm stung above the waist, I swell up and need a steroid shot to help it go down. Which made it interesting for the few years I kept bees! Looking forward to living someplace I can again.
