“Ghost House” is actually an inside joke for the cast and crew on the production of the first movie. The studio wanted to rename the film “Ghost House” because they didn’t think anyone would go see a movie called “Beetlejuice.” So Tim Burton joked about calling it “Scared Sheetless,” and the studio seriously considered it. Burton had to fight to keep the name Beetlejuice for the film. I loved that Easter egg when I saw it in the film!

The marriage I think would have gone a bit far as there's no romantic interest but I can absolutely understand what you mean as the ending feels a bit unfair since Beetlejuice did help them. However, we are overlooking the forced pregnancy, his grossness and his only agreeing to help Lydia save her daughter IF she marries him. I would have liked to see Beetlejuice back out of the contract himself maybe because he's been reminded of his first wife and why he hates being married/tied down/living with a woman especially one that does not actually love him. So he goes back to the afterlife to hatch a different scheme? Or maybe some alternative where they agree to be business partners instead? He could help her ghost bust for real? Although he's obviously a loose canon and vile so probably not something Lydia should or would agree to. 😄

It was really obvious that the boy was a ghost. I pretty much assumed he was from the moment they first met and just was 100% sure once she came to his house, and he sort of introduced the parents. In fact, several people in my theater guessed it. It wasn't really that much of an aha moment, however how he died and the fact that he was evil was a surprise. I watch a lot of movies so it's pretty standard for her to give her mom a hard time about her gift and then find out that she has the same gift.
@ThePlayTyperGuy4 ай бұрын
I think Lydia seeing the dead is not a "gift" or "curse" a la The Sixth Sense. She's just "strange and unusual" and is open minded enough to see the dead. The Deetzes can see Adam and Barbara at the end because they have accepted that ghosts exist. We also get the impression that it's a matter of skill set: Adam and Barbara aren't good enough yet to force others to see them ,etc.

SPOILERS- I think a better storyline between Lydia & Beetlejuice would've been beetlejuice coming back for Lydia to marry her like in the 1st movie. But unbeknownst to them, marrying her would have given him a "loophole" (like how it was explained Barbara and Adam found a loophole to pass on) and in that way, beetlejuice would have also crossed over. In The entire 2nd movie, Lydia has shown to be with men who weren't committed to her/ shitty to her. Beetlejuice after 30 years has been committed to Lydia this entire time, as he tells his shrunken head crew at the beginning. (He has her picture on his desk too!) Maybe Beetlejuice is the only man that has truly been committed to Lydia and that would have been the loophole for him to cross over..he's been waiting 600+ years for Lydia and that's why he's stuck there. She is his key to pass on. They should have gotten married. At the end of the movie, it kinda hints that he's still lingering, I HOPE it's better than this movie. This movie had characters that didn't even need to be in it. The ex-wife did not need to be in this movie AT ALL. Neither did Willem Defoe. If the sandworm was just gonna get then at the end then there was no reason at all for this. They should have just focused on Astrid & the boy + Lydia reconnecting with her daughter. ..and also reconnecting beetlejuice with Lydia by getting his help in return for marriage..BUT ACTIALLY GO THROUGH WITH IT. The end was wayyyy too perfect. "Oh the contract is invalid because blah blah blah" so frigging DUMB. SO DUMB.

Please move on with the story. 2.Dolores was literal throw away character built up for NO REASON. Also HOW is she sucking souls of the DEAD?! Like what? 3. and the Kid…how is he getting out his house but the maitlands couldn’t. Just annoying part for me. But also another throw character. 4.the soul station was too corny, most of them looked just alive and not even dead dancing.. 5. I COMPLETELY DISAGREE with the girl with pink hair. Wolf Jackson wasted the time to develop the ACTUAL story and characters. Hated him completely. And what was the point of him helping when all BJ had to say was freeze?! Just really upsetting. Just the story was everywhere. And gawd was the marriage sequence way TOO long and flat. The song was slow boring and it was just overdone. In my opinion. Some funny moments but could have been more lively. There were good moments but they could have made it better.

I had a great time at the movie last night. Even my 85 year old dad enjoyed it.

The villains are not the point of the movie. The point is Beetlejuice using these various reasons to marry Lydia again. All of those villains are just sideplots that make the marriage thing possible. (Beetlejuice's ex wife being on the loose again motivates him to marry Lydia ASAP. Lydia's daughter being sent to the afterlife thanks to her scheming ghost boyfriend gives a reason to accept whatever terms Beetlejuice cooked up. Those are just side plots at best.

Humm question for the host, did you watch the og Bettlejuice? They definitely dialed down for the times.

Ghost House was the name the studio wanted to give the first movie. Tim Burton thought it was stupid. It make sense with that context they named the dumb show after the dumb name.

Beetlejiuce was more of an antihero in this move than in the first.

I feel like a funny missed opportunity could've been the witch doctor still in the waiting room, after BJ swapped numbers with him.

Unless I somehow missed it, I would have loved to see some Sixth Sense joke when Astrid finds out she can see ghosts

Movie would have been much better if Beetlejuice was his normal raunchy, inappropriate and politically incorrect self. Beetlejuice was completely toned down in this movie.

Totally loved being back in the world of Beetlejuice, I thought it was definitely a worthy sequel. I do agree with the critiques, but I was smiling the whole time. My kids really enjoyed it as well. I still like the original better, but I will definitely come back to watch this one again.

Just watched it with my wife and we both loved it. I think we all think of the villains part to be under developed.

They should have shown the murder kid waiting in line to get his stamp. Jumping back to him every few scenes to show him moving up the line as the rest of the cast kept getting delayed.

I have one kislux bag I got in 2019, it's the LV white catogram speedy. It's counter quality and it has a nice honey patina now, so the leather is real. I think whatever makes you happy go for it. I've seen LV with plastic leather and blood red glaze...

I would have liked them to acknowledge the cartoon series a bit where Lydia Deetz partners up with Beetlejuice on some campy escapades. I agree that the sudden vanquishing of the Murder Boy / Jeremy and Delores / Ex Wife was unsatisfying. I enjoyed the movie, but it was a B- for me.

I would have loved it if, after the claymation sequence, Charles ended up haunting the middle of the ocean and didn't show up for the rest of the movie. Combine that with replacing the gravesite photo with some abstract art and a whole useless subplot/problem gets wiped away

I was so disappointed in this movie. It was boring and not funny. It was overly complicated for no reason. You could have taken out 4 characters from this movie, and it would have been better for it. Beetlejuice is in the movie for maybe 15 minutes.

You are right about the execution. There must be a lot of deleted scenes. The payoffs were less than stellar. Having said that, it was a really fun ride.

Im pretty sure Beetlejuice is obsessed specifically with 14 year old lydia. When the loves of his life flash in the background I'm pretty sure we saw an old photo of Lydia then too, even though she is standing right in front of him. I've only seen it once so maybe i misinterpreted that scene.
@leejones85824 ай бұрын
36 years later he still loves her and as Lydia says the 600 year age difference is too much for her lol.
