My two favourite Dino-games are Welcome to Dino World (for good strategy) and Draftosaurus (for light fun). I had Dinosaur Island, but seriously disliked it. Fortunately someone else owns it now and hopefully is loving it.

Dinosaur Island and Tiny Epic Dinosaurs. The latter has 75 little dino meeples in that box! Serious choking hazard for kids, but I guess Dinosaurs probably don't care about our children.

I haven't played very many dino-themed games, but I would say Dinosaur Island is my favorite so far. Thanks for the video on this one - I originally had no interest, but now I'm in the "If I can find it for a good deal I'll get it" camp.

Thank you for a great play-through and review. It seems to me like this game could be made more fun with more player interaction and better thematic connections (pink eagles in the time of dinos :)). But yes, it is a very different abstract strategy game, and I think it works best at 2p because the other player can plan ahead as you pointed out. Could you please consider more close-up shots of components (e.g. the animeeples) for later reviews? Thank you. :)

I was thinking of getting this because we love Tiny Towns and this seemed to have a similar feel to it, as a light puzzly game. Do you feel like it compares, or is it too simple?

I was interested in this game and New York Zoo. Do you think they are similar at all? Or very different?

It's weird, they are similar yet different. Of the 2 gotta go with NY Zoo.

This game has potential, but watching you play, it seems simplistic and silly to me. There is no interesting player interaction, the individual ecosystems bear no relationship to each other, the tile selection and placement have hardly any restrictions, and - this is where the theme simply does not work for me - there were no tigers or eagles or rats or rabbits in the Age of the Dinosaurs. If you are looking for a well-themed, intricate and brutal survival game for two to six players, try _Dominant Species_ (if you have two to four hours to invest).
@BeforeYouPlay4 жыл бұрын
That's fair, we felt the game needed another element too. The fact you build and destroy so often can definitely leave things to be desired.
@hummingbirdfeeder14 жыл бұрын
Seems like you might like a heavier dinosaur game like dinogenics. This game is much lighter more along the lines of Azul or Sagrada. It really depends on if you like light puzzly abstract games which this would be, or a heavier worker placement strategy game like Dinogenics or Dinosaur Island. My game group likes the lighter puzzle games so this would be perfect for my group.
@BeforeYouPlay4 жыл бұрын
@@hummingbirdfeeder1 You know, we've seen Dinogenics around but haven't had the chance to play it. We're planning on covering Dinosaur Island this month so that'll be fun, but we really do want to try Dinogenics!

@@BeforeYouPlay HIGHLY recommend Dinogenics, plus its expansion. Was just able to snag a copy and it's very good. Look forward to a playthrough if you get around to it sometime. Love your dynamic and clear explanations.
