Wonderful painting Paul, I like the nice warm feeling it gives off, and I like the lonely boat on it, gosh if I did this I'd almost want to jump into the painting and just row off into the sunset, cheers 😊👍

Hi Steve - thank you once again for your donation to my Coffee Cup - paint funds. Our fur babies are a delightful destraction. Poppy cat wonders who am talking to when I'm filming. She often comes to check that I'm ok talking to myself. 😃🤣😎

Absolutely Paul, and you are so welcome. A small token of my appreciation for what you do. Also, you are so right about our fur babies. Our pets are such wonderful parts of our lives. My doggy, Bleu, has been with me for a long time now, and I'd be completely lost without him. Thanks again, and I'll be looking forward to next week's painting. Cheers, 😊🥂

Hello Paul. Another winner. Loved it, especially your tip about using charcoal on the back of the boat photograph It's a great comfort to me to see that a great painter, like yourself, traced the boat to the canvas. I have been using this method for years (I couldn't draw to save my life) but I have been using carbon paper. Keep them coming. Jack

Thanks 👍Jack. I'll use anything I have to make the process easier. I did a painting a while ago that used the figure of '8' technique as well. But I like to keep it simple. Lots more to come 😃😎

Hi Paul! I’m so glad that you gave us that wonderful top tip for the texture in the sand! I’m so excited to try it. I’m going to guess that your skies and clouds are one of your most rewarding parts of painting, along with the color choices. Your hand seems to dance while painting them! Thank you for sharing this tutorial with us. Have a fantastic week! 🤗😃✨🎨🖌️✨

You are so welcome Stephanie. I keep a few old worn out brushes just for texturing a painting - the scruffier the better they work! I have another scene in my head already. Just got to make it into a painting. 😃😎

Hi John - I think showing the gaffs and mishaps is almost more important that the bit that work out as expected. I used to have about a 10% success rate when I started out many years ago. But with a few paintings under my belt the rate is closer to 95% So you see there will alway be that 5% that I use for fire lighters - Happy Painting - Paul 😃😎

Where did you get your sticky item to cut out your elephants. I can’t find it any where
@PaulRansonArt7 ай бұрын
Hi Vicki - its a sticky back plastic I buy from our local DIY store. Its sometimes called Con-Tact paper in the USA. Its mostly used as a decorative covering for kitchen draws etc. Way cheaper and better that the product called Friskit sold in art shops. Thats only good for paper and barely sticks to canvas.- Hope that helps - Paul 😃😎

Ok its on my list of stuff to do. TBH I just stick a wire toast rack in an old kitchen bin. I think this would be the shortest video on KZbin! Maybe i'll do a studio tour and bits and bobs video 😃😎

Really lovely! Are any of your paintings for sale?
@PaulRansonArt10 ай бұрын
Hi Heather, well my originals are on my DIY paper 'canvases' so not really good enough to sell. I did set up an Etsy shop for prints but its proving to be a bigger/complicated set up than expected.😥 I hope to get this up and running soon. 😃😎
@vickimarsh23857 ай бұрын
Oh great but how do you keep from erasing it while painting
@PaulRansonArt7 ай бұрын
Hi Vicki - yes, you do need to take care when painting this. If you look closely at my video the outline of the boat does become feint but only on camera. In real life the outline is much clearer. If it does start to disappear too much then stop and use a Q tip or cotton bud to find the outline again. Give it a try - best wishes - Paul 😃😍😎

The carbon paper is a good idea. Otherwise its using the dreaded grid. None of the shortcuts are cheating ... that's just a plain silly idea that people who know nothing about how art is done complain about. I would use a projector as well if I could find a good one that is made for the purpose. Carbon paper is good. Saves loads of time and loads of stress of not getting the drawing "right". I have used it many a time as well as other short-cuts for the final drawing. It's odd that people think that optical short cuts and carbon paper are "cheating" but they are not. The real art is in the painting and arranging the composition to make a harmonious whole. My 5year old niece says I like "colouring in " ... well little one, it aint ezy as it looks Superb painting!
