i have the M32 and the crave and can tell u from experience: Nothing compares to Moog! What the reviewers dont tell u, but what u find all over the internet: The crave has a noise issue. Allot of people are reporting noisebleed problems. When u hit a note, there is always noise audible. The only way to fix this is to input a sound source to the ext. in point. Before people buy: Reed some user experiences.

Is it just me, I own a neutron that has the same 3340 chip oscillator as this but why doesn't it sound as punchy, sharp, concise, and clean as this? Is it because of the filter? Or because it's running through its overdrive and delay before output?
@chancemeeting28495 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Something just sounds off with the Neutron's gain staging. Like it's clipping in the wrong ways. My honeymoon period with that synth seems to be coming to an end. It's very flexible but rarely sounds great.
@thirfytash72865 жыл бұрын
@@chancemeeting2849 I love it for woofy soft bass sounds and sound effects and paraphonic ambient sounds but just sounds a little soft for anything else, I mean other sounds are doable of course but just sound softer than the crave imo, but I haven't tried the trick of bypassing the overdrive and delay yet, that might help things. But still for that price the neutron has got a great range for those aforementioned sounds and it's patch bay is also a steal to use with other gear, but yes it's not a do all mono /duo synth but I guess that's any synth! I'm happy enough with it and being so cheap also buying a crave on top of the neutron doesn't seem so bad, but still wish the neutron could sound like the crave since it has the same oscillator

which external instrument do you have running out of/into your "external audio"? seeing I have no idea what is going on here, I am simply trying to reproduce the cable pattern that you have & see what happens.
@StarskyCarr5 жыл бұрын
I think I’ve got the VCF out running into the external audio in. It can give a nice bit of feedback distortion and add a bit of grit to the sound when dialled in at certain resonances (it’s an old trick used a lot in the Minimoog and Arp Odyssey). It may not be doing much in these patches, as I’m essentially experimenting with it, and seeing how it reacts to different inputs etc. I’ve recorded the videos once I’ve found a sequence of tweaks, switches and notes that come together as a nice short performance - so the patch cables may not be integral to the overall tone in all cases, but a remnant of continuous dabbling.

Yeah i mean the filter sound s a little clean to me. I don't why they didn't add an overdrive circuit like on the minimoog? I wonder if it softclips/fattens at all if you push the input... I know you can feedback the filter somehow but i don't think that's the same as just boosting the input. Think i might buy it but then if i don't love the lack of filter grit/warmth ima sell and get the arp odyssey or neutron instead

I tend to add Eventide Space as a goto. I just j know that within a couple of tweaks fro the basic time I’ll have something that works to put the synth in a nice space. Wow. When I saw the specs I thought "Nah, 1 oscillator. Probably thin and boring". Then you show this video where you get stuff moving with the filter as a second oscillator and even have patches which sounds like 2 oscillators and a sub. This one patched into Behringer Model D would be a great combo for that total price of them. You would get PWM and weird modulated stuff from this one and then still could use the filter on the Model D (which I assume have been used up in many of the oscillator-generating "fattening" patches here).
@Magnus_Loov5 жыл бұрын
@@oOFTJOo I do know that Model D is Eurorack compatible. What type of standard are you talking about that the Crave supports. It would be strange if Behringer have two Synths and one of them Eurorack compatible and the other not, wouldn't it?
@Magnus_Loov5 жыл бұрын
@@oOFTJOo I checked the manual. It is not stated specifically that it just accepts 5 volt. It differs for different inputs. The LFO, for example, accepts -5V to +5V which clearly is a range of 10V. Where did you get this "just 5V" from? I mean, if the model D would have been Eurorack incompatible when they stated it was compatible, then there would have been an absolute outrage, so I find this very, very unlikely. Besides, this guy have a working Model D in patched into a Eurorack setup: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIbUk2t5a7CEqbs How come that works? Edit: Checked a bit more. The standard actually says +-12V, but there is additional info: "The Eurorack format calls for ±12V power (most other current formats use ±15V), in addition +5V is required by some modules. Unfortunately, the orientation of the power connections are not well standardized; the format uses ribbon cables for power and a two-row ribbon cable connector containing either 10 or 16 pins. A "red stripe" on the ribbon indicates -12V. The 16-pin connector uses the extra pins to distribute +5V, control voltage and gate signals from a keyboard to the modules via a common case connection." I checked the Behringer manual again and you have to buy another power supply that supports 12V plus that you use that ribbon that came with it. The mounting doesn't seem that easy... So maybe that is what you mean? That it isn't possible to just patch it with the Crave without this modification and extra power supply? D-man this got complicated now!
