Below the knee amputee can’t wear prosthetic leg because of sore. What now?

life without a prosthetic leg is very difficult. Then throw in being the only adult with 2 little kids. I am living life on a knee scooter trying to take care of myself, my home and my kids. I cant get to the grocery store or clean the house.
I am trying to heal the skin the best ways I know how but when i try to walk on my leg, it splits open again.

Don't wait to get treatment. Things can go from bad to worse in a matter of minutes! Please see your Dr. or podiatrist soon. Trust me, I know from experience. RBKA since 8/23 😢 I've had my prosthetic for 6 wks & still learning to use it.

I don’t like the feel of the liner on my skin as I can feel my skin move on it. I have a weird shape stump due to loss of bone (fibula) and muscle due to trauma. I wear at least one sock under my liner. I wear a sock for sweat and then a short sock to even out the shape. The socks are below my knee so the liner still has plenty of skin to adhere to. Wearing under the liner is more comfortable for me and gives a little bit of cushion for your delicate skin. Also absorbs moisture.

I just got my third prosthesis. Have been really excited and it’s time to call prosthetist. I get soreness where you do at the bottom. But I have blisters on the sides as well, and they hurt like hell. I’ve just been wheelchairing around and a friend went shopping for me. Just saw a pic of myself and y son and it’s obvious that I have one leg that is longer than the other. That’s on the prosthetist. I can see in my eyes that I’m totally in pain. That was my last prosthetic. This new one I like even less. I’m btk amputee as well. I just feel I’m not getting the care I should be. I’m not young anymore (65) and am more or less retired. I know I have to adjust my attitude. I just wish my prosthetist talked more. He’s also an amputee and moves so fluidly. I’m still after 3 years having to use a walker and I’m feeling like a hunchback. Apparently I subbed to your channel a few years ago but never got any of your videos until today. Thanks for your videos. I’ve watched, even subbed to another amputee like yours. But she’s a little over the top for me. Looking forward to hopefully a great 2024. Thanks. T

Ok, look into getting adapt skin for your stump. It is awesome for it. I use it. Another thing is talk to your prosthetist about a distal cup. I wear one under my liner to protect the area around my bone to cushion it

Understand the issues you are having. It was an issue at the liner factory. Went through 6 -8 liners in about 6 months. Please do not use an anti-bacterical soap use dove soap and wash your liner out every night. Stay safe and hop on

Also i took second place on sexy leg contest an above tbe knee amputee took first. Got to the base of mt etna in italy ground was like sand could not make it to the top. Just ate way to much. I’m having the same issue right now. Have ERTL amputation that was performed from Dr Attinger. Did you have post op care and prosthetic fitting designed for more weight bearing with your ERTL. ? My first prosthetist didn’t and I lost ALOT of my muscle under my bone bridge and now having blister issue with the bone contacting my liner. And I’m in the same spot..I need my prosthetic to fit now!

Dr Attinger did my revision. 🙌🏻 amazing surgeon! Yes I had a prosthetist that was familiar and did a fantastic job. But my limb has changed so much I need a new one again.

Get rid of the pin system. I use a suspension system with a 6 x 6 thick liner. I have the same bone issue

I don't know how any of you leg amps can stand the pressure of a prosthetic. Amazing at times but NOT always!
