9/10/24 Tampa Bays Rays Pitcher Edwin Uceta hit Philadelphia Phillies player Nick Castellanos with the first pitch in the at bat. Then the benches clear with Bryce Harper charging the mound and Castellanos chirping on his way to first base. Edwin Uceta was ejected after the players went back to the benches.

Uceta was originally banished for three games, but had that punishment reduced to two ahead of Wednesday's contest against the Phillies. Uceta was subsequently ejected from the game, with the Rays inserting fellow reliever Hunter Bigge in his place. On Wednesday, Major League Baseball suspended Uceta and fined him an undisclosed amount. Rays manager Kevin Cash was suspended for one game and also issued an undisclosed fine.

There is NOTHING more ridiculous in sports than both bullpens running in at full speed a half mile, just to turn around and walk back a half mile 2 minutes later when absolutely nothing happens. MLB needs to institute a rule where both bullpens meet in center field and have their own bullpen "brawl". Otherwise, keep the bullpens, along with all of the other players bedsides the combatants on the bench, a la the NHL. Maybe then, we'd actually get a decent fight occasionally.
