I found a .32 in the woods when I was young. The slide was warped and it wouldn’t function but I could single load it with the tilt barrel. I had so much fun with that little gun. It was stolen from my house later in life. Seeing yours made me remember it.

I had a .32 stolen some years ago! I still have my .22 and .25 Beretta 950 BS mouse guns, but someone really wanted my .32 (I think I know who), disappearing after a party... The only gun stolen that has never been found! Well, maybe that is a good thing?! Anyway, all three are/were a lot of fun and the single shot action is something that I thought Eric would have brought up... or did I miss it?

@@tylerwill5250 Definitely! I know a guy who was shot in the leg, right above his knee, with a .25 and literally beat the crap out of the kid who shot him by accident! We were all in our teens and showing off what we had or our parents had and a neighbor didn't hit the "flip up" lever on his .25. "Pop!" It was kinda funny and "back in the day" where nobody got in much trouble, except for the "beat down" by his friend! The parents had a talk and my friend had the bullet removed at the hospital. No big deal! It was comical in a way and a learning experience! Still, I would carry a .25 and do, more as a back up, given the new types of bullets and/or knowing shot placement and "mag dumping" being the keys to me... and reloading a mag and run, if need be! lol

My 950B in .22short saved my life about a month ago. I've yet to get the pistol back from the police but it was determined to be justified self-defense. The attacker survived but was only stopped after being hit by 2 rounds of CCI short. He didn't immediately notice the first hit, but the second one caused him to change his mind and run off. So as someone who has actually had to rely on a .22short in a defensive situation, it did good enough.

I've found that on old mags like this, and many other firearms--- If the springs are getting weak, you can actually over stretch the spring and put it back together and get quite a bit more life out if it... granted they will eventually break, and buying new springs is a better way to go.

Neat! I bought my first Beretta Bobcat not really thinking much of it however it has slowly become one of my all time favorite pistols! I really like the 950 especially the rare Inox version (good luck finding one of those) but stay away from them mostly because of the expensive hard to acquire 25 auto ammo and im not fond of the single action only for a carry gun however the double action Bobcat has been quite outstanding for all types of roles including plinking fun and self defense. Not my first choice for self defense but hard to beat for its size and accuracy. Remember a self defense shooting situation for a civilian is more than likely going to happen when your most vulnerable and least on your guard or prepared. Criminals dont strike at the guy lookin like a crazy Rambo dude packin the hand cannon.

As I recall, the .22 Short Model 950 was intended to be a cheaper ammo trainer for the .25 ACP model or used as a range gun. The .25 ACP model was intended for deep concealment defense. The .25 ACP is more functionally reliable than the rimfire models. The Model 950 .22 Short magazines can be difficult to find. The Model 950 could not be chambered for .22 LR because its .25 ACP action is too short. It also is SA only. The tip barrel fixes the SA only safe decocking issue on a cocked hammer over a loaded chamber. Don't lower the hammer on a loaded chamber and risk an unintended discharge. Tip the barrel, extract the cartridge, then lower the hammer over the now unloaded chamber. There is still the possibility of an unintended discharge from cocking the hammer over a loaded chamber. The later Model 21A Bobcat solved the .22 LR problem and added the SA/DA capability. One must always remember that the tip barrels have no extractor and cannot be unloaded/cleared by just removing the magazine and racking the slide. One must tip the barrel and extract the loaded cartridge manually, unless it flies out of the chamber when the barrel is tipped. A failure to fire must be cleared by tipping the barrel for the same reason, no extractor.

You mentioned the half-cock notch as a safety. I understand the later versions of the 950 had inertia type firing pins that allow the gun to be carried with the hammer down on a loaded chamber. Carrying the gun on half cock comes with the risk of the gun discharging if the gun is dropped on the hammer and the notch breaks.

I have a Beretta 950 BS Jetfire 25 ACP.. I purchased in the mid 1990s.. carried it to the '90s to about 2003.. I still own it and will never part with it mine is really reliable and accurate.. too bad they discontinued that and they discontinued the bobcat in 25 ACP now.. I really do like the 25 ACP it's just as powerful as 22 long out of a short barrel pocket pistol but it has greater penetration in hard barriers Like the skull in the sternum..

Hickok has got longer range. And you can smoke pot there. But if I could shoot at 5 feet in my backyard, I would do it almost daily.

The 1954 has a problem with the ejector grabbing the round when the barrel is tipped down. I'd say cleaning and or filing the ejector would solve it. Or replacing the ejector spring.

Phoenix Arms H22a is another great and cheap mouse gun. Very reliable and Phoenix Arms sells tons of spare parts. It also has a bunch of safeties but you can mod it.

I really enjoy the tomcat 3032. Great for pocket carry. Good little shooter. Easy hits at 15 yards. I never really pushed any further than that, but seeing Eric at 25 yards makes me know what I am doing at the range next week.

My Bobcat 21A .25 Holds 8+1 rounds and does not have an extractor. My 2nd gen 2032 Tomcat does not have an extractor either, nor does the model 96 .380 Cheetah. The flip-up breech-load feature prevents use of an extractor, and vice-versa. All the Beretta flip-up barrel pistols are blow-back ejection as such.

A rather interesting fact the little .25 jetfires were popular with law enforcement as danger close backups it was not uncommon to see these in ankle holsters. Of course the small.38s like the chiefs specials were also popular yet not as comfortable. I mainly know this due to several family members who did patrol during the duty issued revolver age. If you have a .25 acp you really want to stick with fmj. Better penetration. I also own a few of these little "mouse fart problem solvers". Sights were never necessary considering if you had to pull the 950 then it was huggable close. Also the sights on these are nice because they are snag proof. Now they are more about the collectable value. People who know anything about the .25 autos know they are reliable as long as you have good magazines.

51/52 Hi-STD 22lr Supermatic or Field King from New Haven, Conn, Colt, Browning and S&W eat your heart out - Head shots at 75+ yards - 4" groups. Kinda like to see you and Chad get into 22lr plinking beer cans with a 22lr target pistol at 20 yards.; however a 1935 FN Browning P35 Hi-Power or a Tokerav will do ;o) I'm Canadian if that's an issue !

We found a 950bs back in the spring, and it has become our EDC (loaded with fmj)...the gun is much smaller, lighter, and even has more capacity than the bigger, heavier .38 it supplanted (the .38 does great at HD duty)...we don't need to load for bear, just enough to dissuade a threat...everyday IS everyday, and the biggest, heaviest .45 in the safe does little good...sure, .25acp ain't much, but it does obey rule #1, and OUR day to day ain't much anymore these days...
