Mr. Purdie laid the blue print for a lot of drummers - regardless of their style or accomplishments; Gadd, Porcaro (RIP), Bonham (RIP), Jordan and others. We must kneel to the geat!

Purdie's solo begins at 3:40 for those of you who want to get right to it. And definitely don't miss Dizzy dancing along to those funky beats at 8:30. Ohh, yeahhh!

STOP TRYING TO CLAP ALONG!!!!
@groalerable4 жыл бұрын
it was perfectly fine to clap to the part they were clapping on..purdie quit playing that bebop song and started something with a tangible rhythm. seems to me he's more into funk than uptempo 8th note swing jazz.
@Wally-H8 жыл бұрын
They just seem to lose the plot around 3.30, everyone looks at each other as if to say "what the hell do we do now?" at which point Purdie just takes over and smashes it. People always go on about how arrogant he is - I say, "so what?" it's that arrogance and talent that makes him what he is. This is some seriously good technical and funky drumming, it really is of the highest standard.
@edcherry92828 жыл бұрын
+John Clark there was never any question about 'what the hell do we do now' with dizzy.. he always knew when and where everything was to happen..no question.. make no mistake about that.. bernard did not just 'take over' ..dizzy probably just gave him the go ahead with a look...
