Nice to see you back Paul. Love the Flying Dutchman label. You described the Odyssey album better than I ever heard it described before. Well done. I completely agree with you. I actually found my copy on Moest for a dollar at the original Goodwill shop in Boston on Harrison Ave. Supposedly there was another location called the Morgan Memorial Goodwill that opened up in Boston's South End in 1895. Fantastic finds Paul. Always the best seeing you do what you do so well~ Rob/Boston

Hey Rob! It feels good to be back. How all is well. Nice to see your comment popping up. Fun to hear your story how you found the Odyssey album. You're a lucky guy :) It shows also these records can end up at the triftstore. Have a great musical weekend. Cheers. /Paul

Paul, as I mentioned when you commented on my video I really missed your videos. These were some really funky jazz albums. The Fisher album was top notch and I also like the groove on the first album, The Call. They all had your signature funk groovy sound. You are still Funk Brother #1 .
@XjunkieNLАй бұрын
Hey Steve! It's good to be back :) Those two albums are right up you alley. You will like the psychedelic touches to the music. I love broadening my taste in music, but looking back I always gravitate to this funky groove. Have a great weekend. /Paul

Always happy to discover in your videos new sounds from everywhere in the world. I only knew Tim Maia,Roy Ayers and of course Henri Texier because he is french and it's my favorite album from him. I like also his albums on 2000's years on CD on label bleu with Junneau and others. Spirogyra and Odyssey were only names for me now with the help of your extracts I shall go and discover more in KZbin as the others albums you described here.Thanks

Hi Gerard! Thanks for stopping by and the comment. For some reason I think Varech is an album that could only be created in France. It's fantastic. There is so much in this universe. Happy to share my finds with you. Have a great weekend. /Paul

Thanks Paul…great selection. Glad Lonnie Liston Smith made it up there…certainly up to and including ‘Renaissance’ I would classify as Spiritual Jazz Funk…the best of which in my opinion is the sublime, laid back and heavenly ‘Visions of A New World’ …a special vibe.
@XjunkieNLАй бұрын
Hi! Spiritual Jazz Funk sounds good to me :) Choosing between "Visions Of A New World" and "Reflections Of A Golden Dream" would be tough. Both great albums. Happy holidays. Cheers. /Paul

@XjunkieNL ...lets not forget Renaissance and Expansions..those 4 are the business. I agree..but if I had to choose would be Visions every time Paul. 👍🏼

Super selections Paul - the Roy Ayers and William Fischer are fairly recent finds for me too - I would love a copy of the Odyssey album - I only have a seven inch - I love that blend of early seventies funk, jazz, soul and folk too
@XjunkieNLАй бұрын
Hi Mark. Nice to see you stopping by. And maybe you only need the seven inch :) Although it is the perfect album for a breezy summers day. Cheers. /Paul

Hi Paul, great, you are back! Walter Bishop was my fav here, I have never ever seen Texier rec in Finland. Is that new Kuja on the wall? Greetings.

Hej Hatri. That Walter Bishop jr album is fantastic. A soundtrack to the seventies :) Sharp eye! That is indeed the new Kuja Orchestra. Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend. /Paul

The Call sounds like it is my sweet spot when it comes to Jazz. The Fender Rhodes from the late 60s early 70s is magical. The only Walter Bishop are the Black Jazz released.
@XjunkieNLАй бұрын
Hi! If you haven't heard the complete album. I can highly recommend it. Wouldn't be surprised if it is right in your sweet spot. There is just a hint of phychedelic rock to keep your interested. Cheers. /Paul
@vinylrichie007Ай бұрын
@ In reference to Walter Bishop, I meant to say the Black Jazz are the only ones I’ve heard.

Excellent video! Henri Texier! He made a record just before this one called ‘Amir’. Also a great LP. A bit more of this style and released only a couple of years ago is a record by French artist, Kham Meslien “Fantomes… Futurs”. Worth checking out. Cheers!
@XjunkieNL19 күн бұрын
Hi! Out of curiosity. Do you have a favorite...Amir or Varech? What a pleasant surprise was the release by Kham Meslien! A fantastic album. Thanks for the comment. Have a good weekend. /Paul

The Texier is fantastic. I have his first three LPs. He plays contrebasse on the album Claude Barthelemy - Jaune Et Encore on the Cobalt label. Cheap Heat.
@XjunkieNLАй бұрын
Hi Dave. Didn't know that. Thanks for the tip. Mister Texier is a magican playing the bass. It's just illegal how funky he sounds :) Cheers. /Paul

Missing that Lonnie Liston Smith! Only have Astral Travelling and Cosmic Funk by him. Anything on Flying Dutchman is an automatic purchase if I come across it. Only Mike Longo I have is Funkia on Groove Merchant. Roy Ayers I have next to nothing by, just never see him around, same with Tim Maia. William S. Fischer I do know very well, got an original promo copy plus the recent reissue. Yeah that electronic track could be easily left off. Oh man, Odyssey! Grail record for me, maybe one day I'll find a copy. I've seen this shown a few times over the years, I do not know how people are finding it. Just scored a used copy of The Sisters Love, apparently it came out a few years ago and is supposed to be their album for MoWest which was not released at the time. They had the wonderful funky track Give Me Your Love which was included on the Light In The Attic MoWest comp a friend of mine compiled. Cheers and happy holidays!
@XjunkieNLАй бұрын
Hey Doug! Probably surprising my collection is missing Astral Travelling and Cosmic Funk. Together we are complete :) I don't really know what the reason is, but it's the same overhere...Roy Ayers albums have all disappeared. Almost impossible to find. Didn't know about the The Sisters Love. Thanks for the knowledge. As an artist it much be very frustrating to finish an album, and then discover it won't be released. Have a great weekend. /Paul
