I ran across this video and wanted to express my thanks. I've recently returned to golf after an 8 year hiatus and have working hard to finally eliminate all the swaying from my swing which I ignorantly lived with for 30+ years prior when I finally just gave the game up. After watching this vid, I've incorporated the drill into my pre-shot routine, taking two swings, feet together, in front of the ball, spreading my legs which, as you pointed out moves the club head forward to address the ball. Beyond improving my rotation and balance, I find that using this drill in the preshot aids tremendously in terms of ensuring my tempo is correct for the upcoming shot. I've probably watch 100 hours of video since returning to play. Of all of them, this video has been the most magical. Thanks again!!!

This is truly the one drill that can teach you how make solid contact without an instructor next to you. All you have to do is swing the club. I am learning the Jim Veneto golf swing as well, which is a beautiful swing, having more than one swing in your bag is awesome. Back to the feet together drill, if you're struggling this can dial you back in!

Feet together - my saving grace. I was having a lot of trouble recently and began drilling with feet together. It works so well that I took it to the course and played every shot with it. Few strange looks but it works so well, why not use it. I swapped out my driver for my 3 wood and it went further! And so accurate! Also no pressure on my body at all. Loving feet together. I’m using perpetual motion still to heave the club up but I notice that Mu doesn’t do that. I’d love to know if the slow movement back is mandatory. Thanks again Shawn. From Australia.

Amazing feet together drill Posted 14 years ago and by a much younger man. This has stood the test of time because it has good benefits much like the perpetual motion drill. I feel the perpetual motion drill is by far the most beneficial drill of all. I can remember one spring day looking out over my 4 acre yellow lawn plastered with millions of dandelions . Perpetual motion drill heaven for sure. I realized there were more dandelions that any one person could cut in one day. My only regret was not wearing gloves that day. Thank god I do not have neighbors cuz surely they would have thought I was insane. Who in the heck came up with the idea of cutting dandelions or grass using these drills ? Best dad gum Canadian instructor on the planet. That's who ! Thanks Shawn

There are many great drills in golf. If there is one "secret sauce" it is the feet together drill. It ingrains the feel of balance and pressure at address. It solidifies the natural movements of every body part. To paraphrase Star Trek, this new drill boldly goes where no drill has gone before. Your emphasis on a slow gathering swing with arms softly dropping is a game changer. From there you extend and throw like tossing a ball. This conjures up the effortless power of a Sam Snead. GREAT STUFF!

So this drill works great ; no doubts; how do we carry this into the full swing tho ? What are we looking to draw from this into the full swing to replicate the strike and kinetic chain ?
@golflessons2 жыл бұрын
Well where do we start? There is no sway back away from the ball and no getting ahead of it; you have a pure anchor to get the release to happen at the same place, low point is taken care of…the key is to master this TOWARDS A TARGET. BETTER THAN THAT, you want to apply this to a specific task and not go at the ball, like the “grass whip training shawn clement” video. On our premium channel, we have a slew of amazing tasks to choose from to see which one resonates best with you. Just type the word “task” in the search box and also see the incredible “feet together back to feet apart” video and the “kinetic chain facilitation series” Https://www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and it’s only $9.95 for now, stay as long as you like.

Spent some time on the driving range with my two grandsons (8 years old and 12 years old) Saturday. That feet together drill was the only drill I asked them to do. After a few minutes of this swing drill, they started giggling about how much better they hit the ball. 12 year old was hitting his drive past the 200 yard post (couldn’t clear the 150 post before the drill!)

@@golflessons when they hit the ball further with their feet together than they did a few swings before trying to “drive the ball over the fence” like they do on the baseball diamond, they think it’s magic or a trick shot. They have a friend that was also on the driving range. His issue was hitting the ball shifting his weight in his trail foot. “Lifting” the golf ball. Used feet together and then step toward target with lead foot to try to help him fix the issue. But noticed he went back to not ending swing on his lead foot. He’ll need to pay a pro to get out of that nasty habit. Haha

Great video guys, the ball position thing with Munashe answered a big question I had! However, I'm sure I'm not the only person wondering why feet together isn't the default way to play golf? What difference does it make to being able to send the golf ball out towards the target? Is it stability? being able to better use the ground? It seems like feet together doesn't hinder you in any significant way, perhaps you could explain?

Second question...why wouldn't someone just adopt the feet-together approach as their standard method of swinging the club all the time from the wedges to the driver? I understand distance travel would be one factor for some people, but if they simply adjusted their distance scale based on their "feet-together" style, they'd be hitting straighter shots with much more consistency thus lowering their score. Is my thinking flawed? If so, how.
@golflessons7 ай бұрын
We get this all the time; absolutely! The only time it would be hard is if the course was very hilly, like Augusta or Bethpage black!
@paulaotoole20972 жыл бұрын
Shawn, love your work. I just played 2 weeks in a row with conventional stance but with my right heel just raised off the ground slightly and during the backswing. It's the first time i've scored in the 70's two weeks in a row. Solid straight strikes, centred swing & no sway and distance not really impacted probably due to strike quality, not swing speed. Stupid question, should i continue with right heel up or gradually revert back to right heel on ground to potentially get more distance particularly with driver?
@thomasbarreca63053 жыл бұрын
I want to make sure that I understand the ramifications of this video. Are you no longer recommending the "feet together, perpetual motion drill"? The perpetual motion drill would obviously produce a faster backswing than the slow motion backswing. So are you now recommending that we practice slow motion backswings with the feet together instead of perpetual motion? Should we also use slow motion backswings when actually hitting balls on the course?
@golflessons3 жыл бұрын
GREAT QUESTION!!! Perpetual motion still wins in my book but you would be surprised at how many struggle with it in the backswing; so this is a nice BRIDGE OF AWARENESS to get to the promised land!👍😀👌
