I'm pretty sure if actual gods made themselves manifest, even the most atheistic humans would at least acknowledge them, if still refusing to worship. But I have to admit, that line "They really wanted to make it clear they were the few" gave me a gleefully evil grin.

in a world where gods are known to exist, an atheist isn't one who does not believe, but instead is one who doesn't think them worthy of worship.

@charimonfanboy Жыл бұрын
It's not the atheistic humans who would refuse to believe, it's the religious ones. Someone who believes "I don't think there's enough proof that Gods exist" is more likely to believe if shown proof than someone who knows that "their Gd is the one and only true divine" But as Chazz_k says, belief and worship are two different things. Why would a species choose to follow a God who 1, failed their previous followers so completely. 2, would turn its back on their own followers and offer its favour to their killers. and 3, who could be killed or reduced by human weapons.
@Zedyne2 жыл бұрын
Ah, I remember this. Spite is a rare thing, there are only so many species that can feel it and execute it. Combine that with the divine... Well, good thing (for all the xenos and their flimsy 'gods') that Humanity decided to be isolationist.

Humanities, creator did the one thing that he could to let us survive. He gave us his spite of all things god-like! When our ancestors first climbed out of the trees it was in spite of those that hunted us. For in our spite we decided that we were no longer prey. And as we were not prey, anymore, then those that hunted us were our prey. With that one spiteful decision, everything fell before Humanity. So anger not Humanity. For it isn't that they have no god. It is that they are their GOD. May mercy have pity on our souls.

He gave us the greatest gift... the ability to think amd do utterlyvfor ourselves. He gave us a world that would make us strong, make us smart, harden us, amd also teach us kindness and friendship. Hebtaught us that we don't need Gods. We learned to be traders, creators, artisans, whatever we wanted. We have the central drive that underlies all other Gods. But that gift of spite lets us stare at impossible and not be intimidated, but get to work making it possible. We don't bow down. We don't fall back. We don't give up. We run into burning buildings. Our medics rush onto the field to save the fallen. We look for danger and we conquer it. We find unknown black pits and we grab a rope and a flashlight and explore them.
