this lens completely replaced my kit lens - Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ASPH... Excuse me for being mayhaps a bit rude, but isnt 16mm on 4/3 equiliant to 24 mm?
@NigelBarros5 жыл бұрын
No it’s not, micro 4/3 sensors have a 2x crop. So 16mm on a micro 4/3 sensor would give a 32mm equivalent field of view. You’re probably thinking of Aps-c or “super 35mm” sensors, those sensors vary from a 1.5x or 1.6x crop, so a 16mm on those sensors would be around 24mm but not on micro 4/3 because it’s a different size sensor. Cheers!

Hey Nigel, Big fan of you here. I learned so much watching your video. Just a quick question. I am currently using Olympus OM-D E-M10 II as my main camera. I used to follow your video on best M4/3 lenses and got myself a 25mm f/1.7 and the Olympus 14-42mm EZ pancake kit lens which produce a decent video quality. So I am split between upgrading the body to GH4 and keep on using the same lenses or buying this Sigma 16mm f/1.4 and stick with my E-M10 II. Which one do you think is a better choice? Thanks in advance man!

NigelBarros plus to use the sigma 18-35ml an adapter is required. Metabones or Viltrox, which I bought, due to low cost. Makes my GH5 perform in low light, on manual focus, but it’s heavy. I think I’ll try the 16ml sigma, yr video is impressive. Cheers.

im shooting mainly with mft and im using a sigma 2.8 lens but it sometimes doesn't give me the amount of bokeh i want. IM using it for wide portraits and so on and indoor events like Partys and stuff.. Do you think the sigma would be perfect for indoor shoots of people in Party/club/concert so I canblur out some background even more? Also im using the 30mm 1.4 for portraits but sometimes its a bit to close for full body portraits in a little bit tighter space. So the sigma 16mm would be the perfect addition for me? im thinking of selling my sigma 18mm 2.8 and use instead the 16mm 1.4 for my recently bought lumix g9. What do you think? The bokeh looks good in your video. Thanks.

So that's actually a 35mm? This is not very wide is it? I used to have a 18-135 with my canon 60D and 18mm was not very wide. But maybe that's wider on a GH3 mirrorless type camera? ´m lost... I wish I could try the lens beforf buying.
@NigelBarros5 жыл бұрын
I believe I mention this in the video but this lens is a 32mm equivalent field of view. So no, not a wide angle in micro 4/3, basically anything 28mm or lower would be considered a wide angle lens. 18mm on a 60d would be about 29mm field of view but if used with a speedbooster on a GH3 it would come down to about a 25mm. If you’re looking for a wide field of view with a fast aperture on a GH3 I think the best you could do is a tokina 11-16mm f2.8 with a viltrox speedbooster. Otherwise you should go for a Sony system
@live4christ2975 жыл бұрын
