Mini's are good, but can you do an army showcase as well?

I believe the amber wizard model was actually the Max Schreiber model from Gotrek and Felix! Been hunting for that model for a while

I will have to look into this. I'm still feeling it from when I incorrectly stated that Chaos Dwarfs never had a bolt thrower.

I came to ask what model this is, it does look similar to the fantasy amber wizard. It also looks a bit like the first Radagast for MESBG. Now I finally have an answer. Bloody good model.

Great video, can't wait for more like it. Val asks about the face of the wizard conversion, it's the 'Fire Wizard' style head from the old empire wizard kit with the hair chopped off.

Thanks for doing this, some great work on show, must have been very hard to pick winners. Really don't know what I'd have gone for, keep changing my mind. Not wishing to be too critical, but I've never heard the phrase 'pre Brian Nelson goblin design' before. It's normally called Kev Adams, credit where credit's due and all that. It's not as if the Night Goblins changed all that much from the original ones anyway which rather suggests that KA set the gold standard as far as pretty much anyone involved is concerned.

I’m working on a galrauch model that has cracked earth all round the base with tzeentch tentacles coming out and around the ground. Will hopefully get in for next month

I believe the "bird" above the high elf mage is supposed to be a phoenix/baby phoenix, based on the colors and the phoenix being in the HE lore... pretty cool.

When I was a kid, my grandmother bought me a book with letters from the American civil war. She clearly didn’t read it before hand but when I started asking my folks “what a hooker was?” They took the book away.

What you are calling old minis are all post 2000, that is not even middlehammer!
@ClydeMillerWynantАй бұрын
Pretty sure the two elves that were mainly the subject of the discussion of levels of detail are both 90s, one earlier than the other. I thought a bit along the same lines as you ('is this really 'Oldhammer' etc), but their point is a fair one regardless at least to some extent - you can find figures from any era that have an excess of detail. Of course that doesn't mean it's not more prevalent in some eras than others. I noticed that there was at least one 1980s figure on display, did you spot it?
@HallBr3ggАй бұрын
@@ClydeMillerWynant The wood elf mage around 43:00 cannot be given as an example "of old model having lots of detail" cos its from ~2005/6. The older models I can identify are the high elf mage around 46:00 from ~1997 and the goblin shaman in min 41:00 from 1995/6?
@ClydeMillerWynantАй бұрын
@@HallBr3gg Yes, having had another look he's very late 6th Ed which is later than I remembered. Think the Kev Adams Shaman is from about 1993 and that High Elf you have about right though neither are excessively detailed I would agree and if anything the selection in the video is more of an argument that the newer miniatures are the more detailed they get though it's worth bearing in mind that even 2006 will seem very old to a lot of younger people! I am still faced with some very heavily laden 80s Dwarfs that are giving me a headache in terms of whether I'll ever be able to paint them satisfactorily though, so much stuff hanging off their belts etc... The Chaos Dwarf converted to have an outlandishly huge sword at 20:58 is from the Chaos Dwarf Renegades set from about 1987. There was a very similar Dwarf Lord of Legend from around the same time too, not surprising with the Perry dwarfs.

Welp can't say I didn't learn something! And yes, often in other areas of life I'll often confuse the early 2000s with things from the 90s. Unless it's firmly anchored in the bush administration... I can struggle
