Always amusing that the HE are the reason this got dragged back in to production. Not like AoS had an entire water based elven faction all this time haha. Either way, getting another Trish sculpt back is never bad.

The new Forgeworld resin at least for new models/sculpts is amazing! I got the new MESBG stuff and its amazing!

Maybe they can solve the infantry problem by simply making them all cheaper?! I can't put any nice high elf infantry in at the moment, they're not worth the points.

Its cool that HE players get another cool monster. Im definitely grabbing this to use as a jabberslythe in my Beastmen army because I love this sculpt.

This is awesome! It gives me hope I just bought a whole Empire Army and starting from scratch but the Empire winning is pretty exciting and also gives me some ideas. I also love 3000, 5000 battles. I have a 10,000 chaos, 10,000 dwarves, 5000 lizard men, 5000 wood elves so now about 4000 of Empire to paint for an all Empire old world civil war this next fall. Cheers

I guess I'm glad it exists if only so we got to hear Rob's attempts to split the name into merw and yrm instead of mer and wyrm. Unlike other dragons I don't think this one's Welsh though (at least I can't remember seeing any when I was growing up) so he was definitely barking up the wrong tree. Do I want one? No, it should be in the sea not on a battlefield. Don't these elves discuss beforehand which dragon to bring and if so then who decided to bring the one that flails about like a fish out of water (at WS6 I accept) instead of the one that flies and walks?

Yeah the Storm of Chaos era Merwyrm was accompanied by articles in White Dwarf on how to Kitbash them. They also existed in Man O War if you want to go even further back.

Very good episode. Your struggles pronouncing merwyrm were entertaining. It was the first monster released for the Arcanum. Paint job is original. I love gribbly big base bound monsters in Warhammer. Hoping the Basilisk comes back as well.

I have no idea how I am going to fit it into any of my collections but I want that merwyrm. It is beautiful.

To be fair, I have said since the Marauder Giant came up on MTO, any Fantasy Model is now on the table for a re-issue*... Although with wildly varying chances! Personally, I still hoping for a Landship! *Assuming they still have the masters

Merwyrm=Sea Dragon

I thought Merwyrm just meant 'Sea Dragon'

Merwyrm is a compound of "mere", the Old English word for the sea, and "wyrm", an Old Saxon word for worm, referring to a snake or dragon. So basically a Merwyrm is a Sea Dragon.

I just put together my war wagon. A few pieces were warped, but due to the tolerances inbuilt in a wagon I managed to get it all together without having to (near) boil any water. The resin had its normal coating of release agent, and there were no instructions. So you pay more, have to work more at building them, and sometimes still have resin that refuses to work right, but you come out with a model that would look just as good in plastic.

12:41 -2 to be shot turns off poison blocks with any other modifiers for goblins, beastmen etc. not a trivial threat to a large monster along with iron drakes I’d say this is a decent rule.

Merwyrm just means water dragon. Tolkien also used wyrm as a word for dragons "flying fiery wyrms". Also not all dragons in Tolkiens lore were flying or breathing fire, and as we know warhammer just copied its lore from Tolkien

Is The Elder Scrolls, Mer means Elf. Bosmer, Altmer, Dunmer, Khimer, Orcimer, Falmer etc.

I asked the MerWyrm and he said that he thinks the Warhammer community team are grotesque. Always two sides to every story innit.

Got the model sat on my shelf waiting to be painted! Had crap rules in 8th “Sea Monster” meant it had to be near water to be able to March 😅 Best get cracking with the High Elves again.

Monster mash High Elves may be a thing! Wish there was some sort of monstrous infantry though to counter the meta in the book. It can be hard to avoid being magic missiled to death unless you can fly a big thing in to wipe out a wizard at the moment.

"Wyrm" is just another old word for dragon, hence the connection. And I just remembered the insane old Basilisk model that Warhammer Forge made... I really hope they bring back that sexy, six-legged (eight-legged?) beasty. The Storm of Chaos lists were so great. Errantry War, Dark Elf Cult of Slaanesh, Middenheim, etc. I really hope Old World matures enough to give us those kinds of amazing, far-out lists.

Rob is correct! Mer, Mar, and similar means “sea”. So, a marina is a name which means mini sea.

Why is GW dumb? Shouldn't they maximize their $$ by advertising Merwyrm for High Elf on square base and for Idoneth with AoS rules? And why can't Old World get SKAVEN? They really need to get their ideas from Creative Assembly at this point instead of the other way round.

My War Wagon arrived today and went together 95% perfectly. One tiny bend in one wall that needed warm water to adjust. But the resin quality is otherwise immaculate.

mer comes from the french word (before mere in english, obsolete word now), it means sea, Same as the mermaid yeh

It's a sea dragon but I don't really see a dragon there that fits with the High Elves, even the Sea Guard. Despite this, I will probably buy him if he's good on the table and it fits my future army. Great sculpt by Trish. Bring back Trish !

I can confirm. The newer resin I have worked with fits great. Burlokk went together easy.

They just took wyrm from Norse mythology (which were dragons) and combined with the beginning of mermaid lol.

FW resin has gotten a lot better. I’ve bought the bone giant and casket of souls and it wasn’t bad at all. Also got my war wagons today and they look good but haven’t had a chance to do anything with them. But looks promising.
