Thanks Ray, appreciate it. Have some fungus issues as well, but as you say, all things considered, the lawn is not looking too bad. Just needs some sun now, haven't seen the sun in weeks :)

Me too, the RPR is by far the best looking grass I have used, but I need to have something that doesn't die off during winter, hopefully a mix of these will make it stronger.

Nice video. I planted Tetradark perennial rye grass a year ago and it worked out great. For some reason it’s now impossible to get though, but is also a tetraploid. Looking forward to your results! I still have problems with lawn rust fungus. What works great and cheap is: 1 liter of dry powdered skimmed milk, four tablespoons of baking soda, then a bit of dish soap. I put that all in a pale, add four gallons of water, and spray it over my 2000 sq/ft lawn. I do this every three or four days. Really works well.

Hey Mate, I really really wanted to try the Tetradark too, but as you say, it's impossible to get hold of, hopefully they will release a mix with the Tetradark too, really would like to see the colour of it compared to the RPR. That sounds really interesting, I will give it a shot, gotten more and more of it so really would be nice to find a natural way to treat it, thanks!

Lovely video Sam, as you know I reseeded last year with Rye… (Hurrells all American)but unfortunately I’ve had so much poa this year I’ve decided to kill it off and I’ve brought some Hurrells 100% CSI rye grass. I’ve done a few test patches in preparation and really pleased with this type of rye, quite a fine grass blade, not like the current rye grass and supposed to have a creeping habit when the temperature drops. Like you said you didn’t find any evidence of a creeping nature with the RPI, we’ll see. Keep them videos coming please 🙏

Hey Steve, aaaahhhh that Poa man, I too have a lot of it this year, been pulling like crazy, hopefully enough so I can keep it in check. But I can understand that you are starting over, it really is an eyesore. I actually looked into the CSI rye grass, really liked how it looked, but I opted to go for something that was promising winter hardiness. Thanks for dropping by mate!

Good video. I used the RPR last year in my lawn and never again. It becomes extremely strong and really think stalks. It also got extremely thin in winter as always. Not a good choice for a well maintained lawn in my opinion

Check out Hattrick, Fireball, & JB triple Rye for ryegrass cultivars with a blend of Mazama Kentucky Bluegrass. - JB triple rye is the least water sensitive ryegrass cultivar I've run into - Mazama KBG handles direct sun really well & it's the darkest KBG cultivar out there. Super tough turf grass that will help fill in ryegrass patchiness, esp coming out of a hard winter. I ran into a similar problem with rye this last winter - Hattrick and Fireball are the 2 darkest rye cultivars available and super disease resistant Protip: To prevent fungal pressure, innoculate your grass seed by mixing mycorrhizal fungae spores into your grass seed for even faster germination, root development AND better uptake efficiency for fert and nutrients.

Hey Mate, I actually tried to find it somewhere over here in Europe, but couldn't find anyone supplying those cultivars, do you know anyone who supplies to the private market over here? I saw another video where a content creator was comparing ryegrass with kentucky bluegrass. He said the ryegrass isn't drought and heat tolerant. Is it true?

@neilfpv well it depends on what you are comparing to. I would order cool season grass like this from most to least drought and heat resistant: TTTF Fescue Rye KBG

@@SamsLawn Yep, I'll try ryegrass this year. I had sod quality KBG and it was fantastic but not drought tolerant. It got killed by heat stress. I switched to SS1000 4 years ago and I never watered it after first year. Only rain waters it. It's not as beautiful as KBG but it is extremely drought tolerant. I'm really excited trying high quality ryegrass. I'll do it next year. Thanks for the info. :)

Looking nice mate, cracking job you doing there! In this Masterline mixture were there any fescues? I also have shady areas where Sun never shines and though to use some shady mix just in that area. Masterline PM50 and PM 60 has some fescues in it for shady lawns. Barenbrug also does seeds for the shady lawns(E8 and velvety green shady one) but could not find any videos about them. So I am keeping an eye on yours after the winter. Keep us updated pls. Regards Joe

Hey Joe, thanks mate, appreciate it. There were no fescue in this mix, I am trying to make a 100 Rye lawn work here in Sweden. Fescue is otherwise the most commonly used seed here since it handles the cold very well. But for sure, if you have shady areas fescue would be they way to go. I think Ryan Knorr uses some shade mixes, they contain a lot of fescue, maybe check out those videos and see what types he has and how they look?

Great video how does the Rye grass hold up under very hot summers? I live in San Antonio Texas so we don’t get a whole lot of rain and temperatures in the summer run from 95 to 105°F. I would like to know which dry grass will stay green And grow under those conditions. I have seen it get cold in San Antonio down to 0°F plus minus. So if you could please advise I know nothing about grass excepted it dies. We do have water restrictions that could cause a problem. Thank you for the video. I look forward to hearing back if I can never find this page again. God bless you and your family no and forever. He has risen.

@@williamberry9341 hey Will, made me laugh on: ,,I know nothing apart drom grass dies" 🤣🤣👌 Tall tipe turf fescue is your best driend in your situation. It does take some time to germinate but once it takes off it will be perfect. Also it spreads and repairs itself. It has the deepest roots there is and can tolerate literally anything you throw at it. Hope this helped?

Why not turf type tall fescue has deep roots Kentucky bluegrass blades drawbacks lightly brown during the winter and sometimes get the tall fescue bunch grass shows up I use juniper seed juice it's a organic weed killer then reseed I seeded 5acres found 2 small parent plans dieases resistance don't need watering litter during heat wave

Hey Mate, actually looked into it, but did't really like the look of it and it does not "self repair" that well, so it may not be the best grass for high traffic lawns. But we will see, maybe I will need to add something to the Ryemix, why not TTTF then. Thanks for dropping by dude.

@SamsLawn

Hey mate, it did great, my lawn never went dormant and I only used the sprinklers twice this whole year, other than watering new seeds. So it really does great with heat. But I think creeping red fescue would have done even better.
