We had an 07 Wakesetter and the wave on that side of the boat was always crap. Your wave looks worse. You need more ballast in the back end. Skip any bow ballast. The wave will get a lot taller with another 500 lbs. The hull on that boat has enough freeboard you should be looking to put another 1000 lbs on top of that seat sac. The swell (or other surf shaper) makes a HUGE difference, but you still need to get the rear end of the boat in the water more. Think of it this way, a V drive boat has 800 - 1000 lbs of engine and transmission in the very back already. Since you dont have that, you need to put ALL the ballast a V drive runs PLUS the missing weight from the engine.

How fast do you go? Trying at 9mph and 11mph can't decide what's better. Having trouble staying in the wake!

Can you please post links to the items you recommended? Bit hard to hear you and get it right for us novices - thanks

How is the wake shaper attached? Any idea how well it works with a manual wedge? Finally, is it good for wakeboarding?
@SWELLWakesurf2 жыл бұрын
1. Two suction cups. Holds like mad! 2. Works great along with the wedge. 3. Doesn’t do anything at wakeboard speeds, only thing that makes a bigger wake for wakeboarding is ballast

Was this with the wedge down?

boat had no wedge

As a Response LXi owner, there's no way in hell I'd load down a Response with that much weight (particularly in the front). One little mistake and you're taking rollers in the front for sure and likely over the back (depending how big other boats are in the area). To each their own, but this is just asking for a problem (not to mention the added strain on the engine)

bow weight didnt help, and we are on a pretty small lake. Engine wise these are the same engines in the current boats, no issues there, but a prop upgrade may help

My old ski boat has a 1090 pound weight limit. He’s adding 2500 pounds of weight. I don’t think it’s safe.

Water ballast is neutrally buoyant, in this boat best wave was with 1500 lbs in the basil, it does change the ride a bit but was very safe

@@SWELLWakesurf lol. Yea ur right, lbs are neutral...on the moon.

@@landondc4739 What is he meaning that water ballast is neutrally buoyant ... yes if it is in the water but in the boat it is weight seeking to sink the boat !!! so is it 'safe' to exceed the weight limits of these little boats for surfing???

Isn’t this akin to motor paced cycling, where you have a cyclist drafting behind a motorcycle? You’re drafting behind the vehicle that’s creating a slipstream.
