You CAN prevent and reverse high blood pressure naturally without taking medications! You just need to understand why blood pressure goes up as we age, and how making small changes to your diet can have an outsized impact on your blood pressure. Believe it or not, the most important electrolyte for reducing blood pressure is one that 98% of Americans are deficient in! And once you know what it is, you can start adding it to your diet with food or supplements and have an immediate impact on your blood pressure. Studies show that the supplement covered in this video can lower blood pressure by up to 20 points or more! Even if you're eating healthy and exercising already, you need to know about this in order to stay truly healthy at any age. Don't take any supplements without first speaking with your doctor.
I love reading your comments - thanks for posting!

Losartan potassium is a drug with potential side effects such as dizziness and possible kidney damage. Nothing should replace the natural form of potassium such as potassium rich foods without the side effects. Also, Losartan potassium (Cozaar) is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). I am going to increase my potassium in my diet first. This is just my opinion.

This is one of the videos I watched while I was trying to fix my hypertension about a month ago. I'd just been to the dentist, and she wasn't sure she wanted to go ahead with the appointment because my BP was 167/90. I was always hypertensive when I checked, even though I'd dropped my sodium way down. I took your advice and changed my sodium/potassium ratio. A glass of low sodium vegetable juice morning and night, 2 or 3 bananas a day, and a few other high potassium foods, and I'm at about 4000mg. My blood pressure dropped 30 points literally overnight, and has continued to drop. Most mornings I'm seeing BPs of 102-110 over 64-70. I can't believe it was that easy, and I'm shocked that my doctor was pressuring me so hard to take BP meds without looking at something as simple as my potassium intake. Thank you so much.

A glass of low sodium vegetable juice is almost 1000mg of potassium - one in the morning, and one at night gets you halfway there. I make smoothies to get me through to lunch as well, and I've been experimenting with which high potassium foods work. As well as bananas, I've recently tried adding sweet potatoes (which are very high in potassium), and they taste great in a smoothie with a little ginger. Adding (or just drinking) orange juice bumps it up, too. I work with dialysis patients, and to put it in perspective, they struggle to avoid high potassium foods because they're usually the ones that taste good.

I’ve had the same experience with a change of diet, by eliminating processed and packaged foods, going solely to home-prepared natural foods. I was able to completely stop my prescription for atenolol 25 mg and blood pressure is now within the normal range of under 120/80, and many times as low as 100/68. This dietary change was supplemented with a reduction in body fat percentage by walking an average of 11,000+ steps per day over the past 4 months. The medical profession is not trained to make people healthy, but to serve Big Pharma by prescribing drugs to alleviate conditions caused by Big Agriculture and the US government’s adoption of a flawed Standard American Diet(SAD) also designed to support Big Pharma and Big Agriculture, both which are supplied by Big Oil and Big Chemical industries. We have to take responsibility for our own health by educating ourselves. Your video is a useful resource.

For the most part, I do not eat packaged/processed foods other than paleo cookies. My diabetes has gone down from 14.5 A1C to 7.2. My health plan denied my request for a CAC test (calcium test). I will still want to know if my arteries are clogged then I will understand why, despite eating healthier (no rice, pasta, potatoes, ice cream, coke, cakes) my BP is still high. Any ideas?

It's not just what you are eating, but you need to also have regular exercise even if it's moderate. And also very very important to have a relaxed calm mind. The stressed mind alone is enough to have high BP. Also very very important to do breathing exercises. Look up videos of breathing exercises to lower BP. You can do it 3/4 times a day, and it's usually around 5/6 minutes. All the best!👍🌟💯💚

A slight change of diet was all I needed to get my BP back to a normal range and keeping certain foods in my dietary rotation has allowed me to consistently stay at a normal range. Diet is everything, but Sadly Main stream Medical doesn't include Nutrition as a tool for treatment. It astounds me that even today, foods and proper eating are still not part of a Medical Education! Interesting enough when we consider pills 💊 medication we could say this : for the body anything entering in the mouth has to be processed according to the laws of biochemistry and physiology .. which are part of nutrition sciences : so medication or foods should be considered at the same level of impact !!!! therefore overlooking foods is just no sense !!

My doctor has me on two different BP medications now, and still my BP has been 155/99. Although with the banana I had it was brought right down. Older people taking potassium supplements can overdose on it. My father passed away from hyperkalemia in 2006. He was taking diuretics and potassium per the doctor's prescription after having a lung removed. It was to reduce the risk of water build-up around his heart caused by the surgery. What the doctor did not take into account was that he had a history of too much potassium in his blood. So, after a few days, he began to show symptoms of hyperkalemia. The symptoms are very similar to hypokalemia with one major difference; numbness and paralysis in his feet and lower legs. Unfortunately, he and I did not know much about it, so when he told me his symptoms, I told him he needs to see the doctor about it. But had self-diagnosed himself as experiencing hypokalemia, so he stopped taking the diuretics and continued the potassium. Within 3 days, his heart began to flutter. He called 911 but his heart stopped while on the phone. So, please add this warning to your video describing how to avoid overdosing on potassium, especially for older people.

I am confused. It seems that stopping the diuretics (so he would be peeing less) caused the issue. Did stopping them caused a change in the level of K in his system to the down side because it would increased the fluid levels in his body and diluted (reduced) the K level. Or, because he was peeing less, it caused his K levels to increase. Can you clarify this for me.

All blood pressure medicines contain potassium. If you get too much potassium, you could heart your heart. My doctor tests my potassium regularly because I exercise as well. If you want more potassium without taking any pills get an electrolyte like LMNT which contains potassium, sodium, chloride, magnesium. If I take extra potassium, my heart starts pounding-the same if I don’t get enough potassium. Be careful with how much you take. Also, read clinical trials yourself.

Stopped taking the medication, did some research and found that potassium was the key to controlling HBP along with adequate exercise. I went from 160/90 to 110/72 without medication. At 70 I do take medication now to lower my BP just because I am not as active as when I was 50. Exercise and a 4 to 1 ratio of K to NA is the key to normal BP.

I'm a 68 yr old male and I would classify my fitness as semi-ok. I'm not overweight but I get minimal exercise. I started taking potassium about 1 month ago for reasons unrelated to blood pressure which was about 135/85 and which I considered normal for my age. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that my BP is routinely around 100/68. I have been really scratching my head trying to determine the sudden drop in BP. Now after stumbling upon this video I know the answer. Potassium is one of the very few supplements that I've tried that actually has an undeniably noticeable effect and I'm probably taking only 2000mg/day since I often forget to take it. Unbelievable.

I get the potassium level in my blood checked regularly; that is to say, I take steps to verify that something is a problem, before I accept a solution from a stranger who's not my family doctor. The person presenting this video doesn't know you or I, and they all tend to present a one-size-fits-all approach. In the case of this video, I feel that the people who eat a lot of junk food would see the most benefit from the advice.

@tinacampbell1871 you get a potassium chloride prescription from your doctor after having blood tests showing your potassium level is low or low normal. Also, magnesium helps potassium get into the cells...at the cellular level. One needs a good primary care person to work with.

Today I just went to the Natural Products Expo in Anaheim California and I went around to each booth at this massive massive event and I was trying to teach the people Manning each booth the extreme importance of getting enough potassium ... I was teaching them to pass on to the executives the higher-ups the importance of putting higher amounts of potassium in foods and supplements because our nation are world overall we're not getting enough potassium and it's affecting physical pains , heart health and mental health...... I would normally never tell anybody to follow what a medical doctor says because they are not trained in natural ways I don't know much about this particular doctor but I'm very happy that he's talking about this because more people need to know this millions and millions of more people need to see this type of video 👋🏼☘️😉

Salt substitute is cheap and sold alongside Morton's salt in any grocery store, and it has the same easy to measure value, 1/4 tsp = 500 mg. Read the label on these salt substitutes.....it's potassium. Whenever I stray and eat a salty meal and know I didn't eat enough potassium rich foods that day, I add 1/4 or 1/2 tsp of the potassium salt to a few ounces of water, stir and gulp down, not tasty but easy to swallow. Or could sprinkle over food.

Thanks for your sharing here. All my doctors shy away from discussing potassium but will definitely blame my HBP on salt. July 1, 2013 I developed an aneurism in aorta. 4.5 cm with the inner layer split down into left leg. Two years ago my Thorasic surgeon said I’m very stable and the injury has calloused over. The BP medications were not keeping up and has been increased several times. I learn about the need for 4000+ potassium but find it difficult to maintain. Question: if kidneys are designed to flush out excess potassium to maintain equal to sodium why so much?

Quite informative..I do get a fair amount of fruits and vegetables..I don't have high blood pressure..however I do get these spikes that are border line..Now that I have watched your video, i have gained some fresh knowledge..I do consume Dave's bread and rice, as part of my diet.. I can clearly see where I have to adjust my diet..I do consume a good amount of fruits like..Bananas., grapefruit., mangoes., oranges., figs etc..On the vegetable side..kayle., asparagus., squash., cucumbers., mushrooms, cabbage., brussel sprouts etc..Buy the way..I stopped consuming red meats and chicken some years ago..All joint discomfort and pain went away..I'm in my 70s..and pain free..I do eat fish and shell fish, like shrimp and lobster.. Thank you Doc for the insight into understanding the relationship between potassium and high blood pressure.

Thanks for the video. For me, a huge dietary overhaul is not optimal, but instead, to 'sway' things, taking the helpful info & applying it my own way. To increase potassium, I'm focusing on high potassium foods- like a simple potato for a snack, (rather than potato chips, which I've mostly avoided for years, but crave). A microwaved potato with a sprinkle of lite salt- a potassium- sodium blend, gives almost 1000 mg of potassium, & so much energy, is so easy to make, & an awesome snack. Spinach, avocados, beets + beet greens, & watermelon. I have concern to get rid of dairy, because recommendation food pendulums seem to swing back/ forth. Don't eat eggs/ eggs are great is one example. The same with butter, etc. They are now finding the vit k2 appears to serve a vital role in avoiding calcium sticking to blood vessel walls, & high fat dairy is one main source to obtain it (e.g. yellow colored cheese like cheddar, which I've also always eaten/ love). So who knows. It's enough to make your head spin. But I appreciate the info/ help.

The problem with just adding potassium is the effect of potassium is based on the ratio of sodium to potassium. You want a ratio in the 1:3-4 range. It is very easy if you eat out and/or eat processed/packaged foods to consume massive quantities of sodium to the point you can't take in enough potassium to make a difference... so watching your sodium is also really important if you want the potassium to really work on your blood pressure. Fun fact: You will also lose weight as the amount of water weight your body holds onto depends on the amount of salt you take in. And consuming potassium in the 1:2+ ratio of sodium:potassium causes your body to push out sodium from your system and helps you drop water weight.
