Dynamic microphones are great for untreated spaces but condenser microphones picks up more detail due to it's sensitive capturing internal electronics. Honestly, for vocals, I prefer condenser microphones. I would place acoustic panels in your room space and/or get a reflexion filter such as the Kaotica Eyeball or sE Reflextion filter. I hope this helps and let me know if you have anymore questions!

I love the Samson Q2U. It's a good mic for podcasting on the go, and I've used it for vocals. It's pretty good at background noise rejection, seeing it's a dynamic, and it's USB/XLR. Honestly, if people have bad treatment, they really should consider dynamics. Compressors and whatnot are a lot more forgiving with them. I ended up swapping out my Rode NT1 for a SM7B, and never looked back. Hurt my wallet, though.

Yonk I would use a dynamic mic. Condenser mics will be too sensitive and pick up a lot of the sound around you. They also need phantom power, so that could be a problem outdoors.

You will need an audio interface which comes with built in preamps if you want to use it in your recording studio. I hope this helps ☺️

I heard those were really good for recording and for stage presence as well... and I’m wondering if any of these mics are under $100 can be used with Just my iPhone? Bc I don’t currently have a computer to use so... I am using my phone and blue yeti right now... no audio interface no editing of any kind, do you have any advice for me?

Even though these are not USB microphones, could I buy one of these and then also buy an adapter? Or is the quality lower once I do that? I am looking to buy my first microphone, not insanely expensive but I am looking to make an investment. What do you think about USB microphones in comparison?

Hey, great video! Thanks for the tips! I'm looking for a reliable mic to record my own vocals at home, because my band is located in the city where I went to college and is now 200 miles away. We do a lot of writing and recording via the internet so I need something to get at least some pre-production in or for diy demos and such. And since I'm just starting out with the whole home recording thing I don't want to throw a whole lot of money towards an expensive mic that I dont know what to do with 😄 I already have an SM7b, which is awesome for heavy guitars for example, but without a reasonable pre-amp it's not ideal for vocals. I think I am going to get the AT2020, since a friend of mine has it and I tried recording vocals with it before with good results. This video just gave me the confirmation and the push I needed. I will also order a FetHead for the SM7b and give that a try since a "regular" mic pre-amp is a little too expensive for me right now but I already have the mic and it's too good to leave it collecting dust in the corner haha. I got the AT2020 for my first mic, how ever on my second day of use, it had a static sound coming out with my vocals, I don’t know if this is due to me vaping in my room near my mic? Or what’s going on, but I even got a sound shell to try to help but so far nothings worked

In your experience, can the AT2020 produce professional-sounding vocals? Right now I have the EXTREMELY cheap Neewer NW-800 and no matter what you do with it, it always sounds muffled and off, but I also am hoping that isn't just the cheap audio interface I'm using (Behringer UMC202HD). Should I go for it and buy the AT2020 or get a better audio interface first?

You need a pre amp, yes ur audio interface and mic quality matter but if you don't have a pre amp ur just selling urself short
