"Catch up"?! The "competition" was never even CLOSE, not on strategy, not on vertical integration, not on manufacturing innovation, not on having their finger on the pulse of the market, and certainly not on ANY sort of innovation. This why they need a HUGE telescope to even SEE Tesla's lead.

I have never been able to see well enough to drive safely, but have walked, bicycled and ridden many a public transit bus my whole life in Canadian and American cities. I very much look forward to Tesla ride hail and robotaxi services. I might even buy a Tesla some day.

So you’re in for a real treat, my friend, as I am currently driving on V13.2.2, and it is a giant leap forward in the race to achieve a level 5, fully, capable autonomous, driving car, possessing a real world capability of driving from point A to point B without any human intervention, and do so consistently, safer than any human alive today. So it is currently in my opinion that good, and we’ll see what happens next year with the launch of the Robo taxi, because if we’re going to be allowed to join the Robo taxi fleet, then FSD unsupervised will have to become a real thing, otherwise it’s a house of cards, and I don’t believe it’s a house of cards, as it’s just a matter of dealing with some slightly irritating issues associated with FSD as it currently exist, and one of my pet peeves is, that it still can’t distinguish between certain traffic barriers, and it doesn’t know what a pothole is and why you should want to avoid them, as well as manhole hole covers protruding way above the road surface or below the expected road surface, and for me, that has to get fixed if it is to become a real thing/service that one can count on. Comphrende. Cheers 🥂

I paid $100 this last Sunday to have Uber drive me 40mi to pick up my new Model Y…on the way there, I thought about how FSD for one whole month costs less than that single drive to pick up my vehicle with FSD. There is almost unlimited untapped revenue by an autonomous driving service…

Problem with making the ride to cheap is there will be a huge demand and if the time for the CyberCab to arrive is too long that could turn the early customers off. So the price has to be set so the demand matches the time for the CyberCab to show up.
@davidbeppler303211 сағат бұрын
Nope. 10k Tesla Cabs with a price of $0.20/mile will not cause 4 hour waits for cars. Also, have you heard of dynamic pricing? Rush hour, prices go up. 3 am, the prices are at the lowest.

Imagine a major convention comes to town and 500 Tesla cabs line up at the airport to pick them up. Then swarms the hotels an hour before the convention. Then swarms the convention center 15 min before it lets out. Then swarms the hotels after the convention to take them to the airport. Same for major sports events, concerts, holidays... No human drivers. The cabs are always ready. 90% uptime.

Currently Tesla builds a Model 3 in about 10 hours. VW builds a ID3 in about 30 hours. Tesla plans for Tesla Cabs to be produced in less than 5 hours. Or about 250k, the production of Model 3s, x2. So, I expect 500k Tesla Cabs a year in about 3 years. Each one profits about $20k a year for 3 years. Or $17 billion in profits in 3 years. :)

A delivery specific vehicle will not look like a Cybercab. It will be smaller, no doors, no windows, multiple individually openable compartments in various seizes. The platform could be the same but the form factor and look would be completely different. Companies like UPS, Amazon, USPS, and the local dry cleaners for instance could use a vehicle like that for last mile delivery.
@davidbeppler303211 сағат бұрын
Why? Why not use Tesla Cab and save a few hundred million dollars? Companies hate to waste money developing a "better way" when the way they have works for free. Pizzahut could develop heated carrying cases so every pizza is hot and delicious when it is delivered. They spent a few million on the idea.... then went with a cheap insulated bag that cost them next to nothing. Works fine in the warm months, not worth a shit in the winter. But it is cheap.
@joecarmo90597 сағат бұрын
@@davidbeppler3032 Let's say you are making multiple deliveries along a specific route and they are boxes, not people, they are rectangular and one box goes to each location to a specific person who is waiting for them because they had received a notification on the phone and know the exact arrival time (calculated using AI). The Cyber-micro-multi-van arrives, it automatically unlocks just the compartment that contains only the item the person is expecting, and leaves for the next location maybe a block away. That is the idea. Maybe there is a Tesla Bot in the vehicle that walks the package to the door. Something like that. Cybercab is optimized to transport people.

Interesting ideas thanks. Rivalry will certainly make scenarios more complex. Then there are the utilisations of the cyber vans and how they will handle small business goods that inwards. Town planning will radically change (parking spaces)
@davidbeppler303211 сағат бұрын
Parking spaces will not go completely away. But every Tesla Cab can remove 2-3 consumers from buying cars. So, overall the amount of cars bought goes down, but the number of miles driven goes up. With dynamic pricing rush hour will be much less congested. You can leave at 7:30 am for $0.55/mile or leave 15 min early for just $0.30/mile. In a week you lose 1.25 hours but you save $33.75 a week on the average 26 mile commute. FYI that is just $8/day to be driven to work. What if Tesla starts a carpool system so you can split the cost? Then you meet new people and only pay $4/day. Imagine you and your GF or Wife working in the same area and carpooling for just $4/day!?

This will be the death of trains, busses, taxi companies etc. unless trains will convert to more cross country travelling, with like a stop every hour or so. Like an express elevator, where you use the cyber cab to get a part of the way, then the express train cross country and cyber cab again to the destination. Trains where I live has so many stops, they spend more time standing still than driving. But I would be afraid of traffic congestion, so they would have to redesign the entire city road structure to handle the increased traffic or they will ban cars in city centres to keep the public transport profitable. My prediction is also that the price at first will be kept just below the competition to make a huge profit.

TBO. I think robotaxy will be a great market, but more competition for busses, trains and so on. The individual driving will still be a great market even it is not cheaper. People will want to leaves there things in "her" cars. i think 60 maybe 65% to 35% privat own vehicles will be more the case, but still that an enormous market. This will change over time more to 70 to 80% but this will take time. And i think 80% will be some cap, because people will always "own" cars even it is 200% more expansive. But still a great market. Owning something will still be better in some or most minds for a long time. Therefor owning and renting out will be a big thing. If Tesla could realy pull that thing off for costumers and buyers. That would be new, great and would benefit all. That isn't be done bevor, therefore Tesla will go for it. "There is a track record" :-)

Better to put electric cables above like when we had electric cable trains and use new nuclear reactors, especially that molten salt reactor from the 60s and perfect it. But yeah Tesla is amazing g hope we get a different battery we can make right here with no lithium. That lithium battery recycling plant that blew up in Missouri is bad and this technology must go away.
