I think socialists may just have a fatal flaw with their premise. They seem to always start from an assumption of abundance and then just redistribution, but they don't, as far as ive seen, seem to account for how that abundnace gets generated. It's like theyre trying to solve for one half of the equation, but not accounting for the most important prerequisite. It's like their view presumes a natural abundance, rather than a natural state of scarcity and lack of assets/resources/capital etc.

This is so stupid. Socialism, once implemented, can’t be just voted out. It becomes a part of the economic structure. This what I hate about this debate, socialism and capitalism can run side by side. You can still have investment and ownership it’s just that the workers have an equal share. If there are 100 investors in a company then the workers have an equal share of the company. Even if there are only 5 but also even if there are 5000. It’s not a share they can sell or exchange they lose it if they no longer work there. It just means the investors can’t dissolve the company without the agreement of the workers.

A worker has a slice of the pie because they offer their skills, time and labour and investor shortcut that with cash. I may not understand fully what liability protection is but I believe it’s against the failure of a company, workers already have this protection via redundancy and other contractual protections, so yeah.

Destiny's big failure "That all have different stakes in the company" If they're employed by the company they all have the same stake. You're only valuing those employees differently due to your preconceived notions of skill, but using the supermarket those people who filled the shelves, worked the register, and unloaded trucks were the most valuable employees of the company during the pandemic, not the person who had to make a couple ordering decisions amongst a largely static inventory.

To counter a bit though the person who orders the inventory is the only reason the other employees have something to do. If they fuck up and an order is missed that means less work for the others below him and he is now directly held responsible for the lost profit while the other workers are not.

@@carolusrex5213 Those employees always have something to do. 90% of inventory and 95% of sales are staples at a grocery. The manager is the first person that can be replaced by technology since the skill set is algorithmic in nature. It is in fact the least skilled job.

Damn can't listen to destiny lately. He's so fucking jaded. Advocating for free healthcare, government subsidies for average citizens, unionisation, and basic necessities for all are inherently socialist concepts. 99% of "socialists" don't believe we need to dismantle everything and start a government controlled economy. All of us, capitalist or socialist, want to see people incur less suffering. Can we stop arguing about what to call it and start talking about how to enact these policies?

You have a company with 100 people. Each person is rev shared 1%. You need to hire new employees, but none of your current employees want their rev share diluted. Poof, there goes your business.

It the company would go poof otherwise, rational actors would rationally dilute their own shares. Given that humans are not perfectly rational actors you can setup a socialist commercial enterprise with systems other than universal consent. Majority rule, super-majority rule etc. These would prevent the problem you're talking about in reality. I suppose it could still destroy the company, but if more than half of the people believe they would be better off blowing up the company than making some change, 1) they're probably right and 2) i don't see that as much of a problem
