Considering the title is "for profit", he wouldn't profit $10-15k if he tried to sell the car because of the salvaged title. Realistically he pretty much broke even, give or take a $5k profit/loss depending on his luck when selling it. But yeah I'd say that's a win either way, especially if he chooses to keep the car instead of trying to make profit, then he surely got a better deal than what you can find on the used marked with this mileage

@@TH3c0nManthat’s why i’m saying it’s a cool car but it’s not a hypercar or anything close to a supercar. but what you seem to lack is the knowledge that the car was built to look sporty but be comfortable. that’s why they put a 3 cyl hybrid. where the engine is in the rear, there is plenty of trunk space above it. you couldn’t do that with a v8 or wtv engine bmw COULD have put into it. yes the engine ruins the car but most people fail to realize that it wasn’t built to be a super car, it was built to be a sports styled luxury ish car.

The minute you said you’re rebuilding an i8 I was like “oh no… parts for that thing are expensive!” My neighbor works as a parts manager for extremely high end luxury/supercar/hypercar body repair shop and he was telling me how expensive the i8 headlights were one day. Good on you to take the project on though, I’m sure you learned many useful things and now have acquired tools to do something like this in the future again. May have just found yourself a new hobby.

I like the courage, that is how most of other YT channels that rebuild cars started :) What is a complete miss, is calling i8 a supercar, or even a hypercar at one point... this lil tin-can from BMW has 1.5 3 (yes three) cylinder engine... that my friend does not belong in the compact economy class, not to mention normal car, and definitely not in super/hyper category ;)

It's very hard to make money repairing expensive cars. Most of the people rebuilding supercars or sports cars are doing it for content, fun, or for personal use. They make money from their content or get a slightly good deal for personal use after everything's all finished, but then have a car worth way less than a normal one due to the rebuilt title, and sometimes even lose money in the process.

Thanks for going going through this experience and showing normal folks if this can be done. Lesson of this experience are the following: - Do some quick research on visible apparent damage area for parts cost. - Make sure how much the auction fees are in percentage. - Basically check the list on 15:09 If all said and done if it is cheaper than a salvage title with similar mileage that would be a good deal. NOTE: It's not a huge loss for Biaheza since he can write off all expenses used for the car in this video since its part of his KZbin business.

Yoo! Its funny that i tried the same thing. Literally the same video a week ago. I think you gotta buy 10-15k cars in total with the parts and repair cost. Things that I personally learned is always assess the damage on the car before you make a bid. If you have an accurate estimation on how much you will end up spending you will be in a much better place. Also I have heard from a lot of dealers and people in automobile industry these auctions sites do have bots trying raise the auction price. So never go above your total estimated budget. If you were to estimate all of the parts on this car before bidding you would never have bid more that $12,000 since the car value is not more than 37k!!! I guess its all part of the process and learning❤😅

This is the type of car to avoid when buying a used vehicle. A crashed car requires proper frame repair to be safe on the road again. Without it, the chances of the driver surviving another accident are essentially zero.

So glad you uploaded man. I have been watching all your old videos and then saw this was uploaded 30 minutes ago. Great video. I8 are sweet but have a very small market as you noticed. If you do this again getting a more common car but still sport or exotic is a lot better. I saw you watched Matt Armstrong rebuilding cars. Notice the cars he does are very popular but nice cars. This way you can source products and fix them easier and cheaper. Also make sure there is profit to be made. You paid $22.5k for this. Worth $38 when fixed. That only leaves you $15.5k to rebuild. So based of photos I would have say $10-$15k to restore. And that puts you at break even. If you somehow got the car for $10-$15k there would be profit to be made on it. But it’s got so competitive the car sold for $22k

@@michaelbrown688 BMW is German so they really enjoy CBT and making everything compact. Meaning there is literally zero clearance for any part inside the car to go where it needs to, which often means you need to literally deconstruct the entire car to install a random windshield fluid pipe. But they look cool so that's a plus. Luckily there wasn't any engine damage on the car so the hybrid engine wasn't an issue.
