In addition, as a parent, she’s most likely been struggling with maintaining a positive atmosphere for the children (sometimes you just have to ‘fake it till you make it’). She and Art continue to work their way through their shared struggles, as well as his own mental health issues.

I love how friends and family make food for each other in the US. That's not that common in Norway and Scandinavia at least. I think it's such a loving way for caring for people you love!
@kolafoltin Жыл бұрын
That is interesting that it isn’t common in Norway. My grandparents were from there. Gorgeous country. It is very common in my town that people bring food to those having a baby, under going surgery or other health issues or if someone has died. It is such a relief to know that there is one thing you don’t have to think about when you are stressed with everything else. We used the Meal Train app to coordinate when to bring meals. Everyone can see what you are bringing so there can be variety.

Honey, you are doing way better than most people! I can't imagine having 7 kids to feed and trying to do it on a budget AND HEALTHY. DO NOT beat yourself up. I applaud you. There is someone I know that feeds her two kids fast and crappy food all the time. While she has an expensive "suitcase" full of makeup and hair products she drags around everywhere. It just makes me sad for those kids. I can't say ANYTHING because my best friend is her mother. They have nice clothes out the wazoo. Boy oh boy. You do not need to be beating yourself up over this. You truly are doing the best you can for your babies. Your kids are lucky!!! God bless you all!

That’s to bad that u can’t have an honest relationship with your best friend. Thank goodness if her daughter screws up and I know it I can tell my best friend and she can be honest with me about my son if he screws up. We talk about everything and be honest with each other. To bad you don’t have that type of friendship. Maybe you two aren’t really besties but have more of a shallow friendship that doesn’t go deep. Every time you set a meal in front of your family it's a victory. We've all had lean times where we wish we could do more/give more for our children. But you are teaching them, by example, how to eat healthily and stick to a budget. Many families are struggling with debt so it's an important lesson, among many, that you are imparting. Plus when you bulk buy you batch cook, and there's something so satisfying about knowing there are meals in the freezer for those days when it's all too hard. Keep being you, you are capable, nurturing and strong ☺️

Your video remembers me of when I was growing up. My mother had to budget just like you are doing. When you budget and make stews etc you get way more meals. My family never went with out a meal. It is how you cook the meals that makes it more tasteful. I cook just like that today. I surprise my coworkers with a New Years dinner since we all had to work. Many told me that I spent way to much on it but when I told them I spent 75.00 to feed 20 people they was shock. They even had enough to take some home. I cooked blackeye peas, cabbage, corn beef brisket and corn bread. They keep asking me to cook for them all the time and now they pitch in with the funds to make it happen. I am cooking chicken and butter bean stew and corn bread for them this weekend.

So happy to see you settling in the new home, my mind keeps thinking you had all those things at your door 🥺😔 I pray God keep watching over you and allows the best for everyone in that family.

I learnt that when we were hopping between relatives' houses when I was a teen- I could be miserable and angry, which wsn't fun, OR I could find the joy where it could be found. And hey- some chicken in a casserole or soup is better than NONE chicken, eyy? No problem. Glad to see a good stocked kitchen!

Coming from an empty nester now, but remembering when I had a large family, it meant lots of casseroles & stews! Budget friendly & garden produce was a bonus during growing season. Your doing great!
