Such an enormous amount of effort by your planning, figuring out access locations, accommodations, and food is staggering when all of your fantastic filming work is taken into account. You should be very proud of this entire body of work because it truly is a superb effort on your part. It is consistently professional level mixing live sound and music into the drone views. You continue to spoil us with this quality level of work and never disappoint. Thank you and so happy your Dad was able to join you. Good Job!!

Thanks so much Charles and yeah I guess you are right. It's all fun for me so it doesn't feel like work too much. I'm pretty happy with how much 4014 footage I recorded and am so glad I got to film where I did. You are too kind my friend!

Dan, you are bar none the best train chaser, drone videographer, out there. No one does it better. The captures, the composition, the locations, and the drama of all the big trains, and especially this amazing and powerful, beautiful beast. I love the audio and the music and the voice-over descriptions and information… it is just a complete package of awesomeness.

I watched another of your video's of the Big Boy and was so impressed. I commented that I was so glad to see the footage because I didn't think I'd ever get to see this train. But it came to Rochelle, Illinois on its Heartland of America Tour and my daughter drove us down there. We are about 1 1/2 hours away. The backed up traffic went for miles. Incredible, but she found a back way in to G3 and after about 45 minutes of crawling in line we were in the parking lot. I was so thrilled to see this massive engine and all the cars. It hauled all the beautifully restored passenger cars and no caboose. The diesel was UP 4015. Love the little caboose on the end of this one.We spent about 2 hours there taking pics and selfie's with the train and all that. I even met and spoke with Ed Dickens , engineer and co-ordinator of these trips but I didn't know that at the time. About 65, 000 people came to Rochelle to see this train. I'm a retired grandma so this was a once in a lifetime event for me. I think I was grinning, ha ha, the whole time I was there. Hard to pick a favorite scene here but at the end with the mountains might be it. Your video's are always top notch and very enjoyable to watch. Thank you Dan.

These two states are much greener and nicer than Nevada was. The rolling hills, creeks and rivers are beautiful. Overall the landscape is more exciting in this part of the journey. The crowds were out everywhere, which is not surprising. It's interesting there are no flags on Big Boy in Wyoming. Were the freight cars empty? I really enjoyed this series Dan. It's good to see steam trains and your aeriel footage captured the veteran locomotive very nicely.
@TheRailfanDan3 ай бұрын
Yes I really enjoyed how much more green it was out there than Nevada. Am so glad I could make this second big trip to the area. I did actually go home after the Feather River and then came out a week later to this region in a second trip. Totally worth it. I do believe the cars were empty. Thanks so much Z!

Thank you, Dan, for another splendid tease video of the Union Pacific Big Boy #4014 as it worked its way back from its western trip through parts of Idaho and Wyoming to Cheyenne, Wyoming. The train looked beautiful traveling through that area. That part of the country looks a little parched and not as mountainous as other locations on its way west. At this moment, 1558 CDT., the 4014 finished its static display at Global III Intermodal Yard in Rochelle, Illinois 58 minutes ago. It will be sitting in Global III until it moves to the Rochelle Rail Park with an arrival at 0845 on 9 September 2024 and a departure at 0900 CD. Its next scheduled stop on its way to Houston, Texas is at Watseka, Illinois where it is scheduled to arrive at 1700 and depart for Villa Grove, Illinois at 1730 where it will layover for the night and proceed to St. Louis, Missouri on 10 September 2024. (Posted 8 September 2024 at 1612 CDT.)

It is the UP mainline running between the Pacific Northwest and the UP transcontinental mainline running across Wyoming. It is part of the old Oregon Short Line.

There were several short bridges I noticed them slow for throughout the tour so that's why I assumed that. I am not sure on the 3rd track. This was all new territory for me.
