Saw them at Wolverhampton Civic Hall in the early 2000's, it's a fairly compact venue and you are literally only a few metres from the stage. A brilliant venue for a group that tore the house down, Big Country were absolutely awesome that night.

Only if someone would've noticed in some of stuart's songs lyrics, he sounded depressed. Big Country are still brilliant, but will never be the same without Stuart. It's also really respectful that in every big country concert, they leave the space in the middle empty, where stuart used to stand, so they don't "replace" him.

This time we run, this time we hide This time we draw on all the fire we have inside We need some time to find a place Where I can wipe away the madness from your face Our name is out, our name is known Our name is everywhere but who knows where we've flown I never meant to kill a man But I will show you how to live like no one can So look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul I met you wild in a snowed up town Where I was waiting tied and bound to be sent down Then I broke loose, you weren't around So I raised banks and trains until I tracked you down Now look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul You followed me when I said no You lay with me when there was nowhere safe to go We made some friends but now it's done I always knew that we would never find the sun So look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul So look away, look away Hide your eyes from the land where I lie cold Look away, look away From the lies in the stories that were told Look away, look away From the love that I hide way down deep in my soul

Didn't begin appreciating Big Country until after Stuart passed. In US they faded after initial album, although the best was yet to come, and we were just unaware here. Radio and publicity were still critical in the 80's and 90's. Today we can stream our favorite artists' newest material in seconds.

On this day in 1986 {September 13th} Big Country performed "Look Away" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... Eight weeks earlier the song peaked at #5 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart... Besides "Look Away", the Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland band had four other records on the Mainstream Rock Songs chart, "In A Big Country" {#5 in 1983}, "Wonderland" {#48 in 1984}, "King of Emotions " {#20 in 1988},and "The One I Love" {#34 in 1993}...
