One can only imagine what would have happened had their morale not been restored with the spearhead of the lance. It really just goes to show how much power there is in maintaining morale, it’s an aspect of warfare almost entirely unmeasurable and yet plays such a crucial role in maintaining cohesion and obedience. Just hearing about these events from a KZbin video makes one shiver, you really can’t imagine what it must have been like to be here at this point in history which ultimately would have unbelievably long-lasting effects on the outcome of western and Eastern Europe and the world as a whole. The strength to persevere through something like this is truly unimaginable. It’s beyond unimaginable, it’s something nearly of fiction. The fact that Hollywood hasn’t capitalized on this world event of the greatest magnitude is beyond me. Maybe there’s just a fear of controversy with it relating to Christian/Muslim tones. But still, a good writer with a good director would do it intelligently.

@williamrobert9898
@williamrobert9898 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to burst your bubble but he that spearhead lance was quite obviously a fake one, notice how the Crusaders found nothing when they searched but as soon as the dude who claimed it was there searched for 2 seconds he found it instantly? the hint does not become bigger than that, he clearly just took a random spearhead lance from a dead body, hid it and then proceeded to act as if God revealed to him its location and it is quite obvious why would he start such a scheme, it is because he realized how dire the situation of the crusaders was and wanted to do something quickly to restore the morale of the Crusaders, it was a genius plan though so kudos Edit: oh wow just watched part 12 and it turns out I was correct in everything I said above

@remilenoir1271 Жыл бұрын
@williamrobert9898 Sorry to burst your bubble, but the original poster never said anything about the authenticity of the lance. What matters isn't that the Lance was authentic, but that the Crusaders believed it to be so. Which is exactly what the comment you answered to explained.

This video could perfectly be the script of a movie, Kingdom of heaven type. Or a series, since they are fashionable today. Any producer or patron sponsor following this channel? Bohemond's final exit would be a kind of clash of shields from the film 300, and the discovery of the spear would be like in Indiana Jones 3, music included.

20:19 Can you imagine the scene unfolding here.. The seljuks thought they had Bohemond of Taranto, a crusader leader, surrounded. And were about to strike him down with swords and spears.. Until, no ordinary knights came to his rescue. Robert II, Duke of Normandy and Robert II, Count of Flanders came by his side and swept the nearby assaillants away ! Epic

The Third and Fourth Crusades stand in slight contrast, though. While ultimately strategically unsuccessful in retaking Jerusalem, they did largely re-open large swaths of The Holy Land to Latin pilgrims and held mostly strategic victories from a military perspective, particularly on the part of Richard I.

Thanks for the video! Could I request that the impact of the Holy Orders of Knights please get a future mention ? (eg the Templars, Hospitallers, Teutonics, Knights of Holy Sepulchre, knights of Malta) Particularly the Templars who I believe were some of the most feared and well-trained soldiers according to their enemy. Since all the above lived the monastic rule in war, this might have likely proved useful for virtues like discipline, courage, and conviction. Also El Cid would be epic

Only error I can spot in the video: pretty sure la Mahomerie doesn't mean "blessed Mary", but just "The Mosque". Mahomet is the french version of the name of the profet Muhammad, and "Mahomerie" was used to name both a mosque and islamic faith itself. Otherwise, great video, keep up this series!

Obviously they counted on lack of coordination from the turks too. But i think cruzaders won mainly because of the armament. They had superior body protection and better metal alloy left by romans centuries early who proof his value on this battle

Armor and weapons and nice. But it is seen in you westerners today that you have rarely seen a Zealot. To be so filled with love for God that you want to die as soon as possible just to be with him. A zealot sees the Muslims and sees Satan himself and feels a physical need to kill them. This state of mind won these battles. They fasted for 3 days if you have ever fasted you would know how hard that is and not to mention going out to kill after it.

If the conquer England, Sicily/southern Italy and now the countless battles won in the crusades doesnt show that the Normans were the most deadly fighters of the time i dont know what else would. These guys must have been scary to see. Is there any info on how the Norman knights trained. I know there have been videos before how the Romans and legionaries trained for their discipline and combat readiness. I would love to see if there is any info on how the Normans created such deadly fighters to the man. That would be a fascinating video. along with the gear that they would be using that seems to give them a huge advantage in close combat against the Muslim soldiers they were fighting.
