Learn how to make Sattu Pranthas at home using this recipe by Amrita Raichand. These parathas are high in plant protein, incredibly soft in texture and super comforting!. Sattu, a flour made from roasted chanas, is a powerhouse of nutrition, making it a perfect addition to your daily diet. Have it for breakfast to give yourself and super start to the day! 😋❤️

Sattu Paratha Recipe:
Ingredients For The Filling:
Roasted Chana flour (Sattu)-1 cup
Carom seeds-½ tsp
Kasuri methi-½ tsp (crushed)
Ginger(finely chopped)-1 tsp
Onion (finely chopped)-3 tbsp
Green chillies(finely chopped)-4
Fresh Coriander leaves (finely chopped)-2 tbsp
Homemade pickle masala-2 tsp
Chaat masala-½ tsp
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder-½ tsp
Water to make a soft dough( VERY IMPORTANT)
For the paratha
Wholewheat Flour, water and a little salt to make a soft dough(exactly what you make for regular rotis)
Accompaniments - Curd, roasted tomato chutney, pickle of choice
Method
-For the filling, in a bowl, add sattu flour along with all the other ingredients.
-Mix till you get a crumbly texture. Now add water and make a suer soft dough out of it.
-Keep aside.
-Now take a small dough ball of the regular aata dough, flatten it out slightly and add the filling in it, seal & roll the paratha(kidnly watch the video to see how exactly this is done)
-On a hot pan, place the paratha & cook till golden brown on both sides using ghee.
For The Tamatar Ki Chutney
Tomatoes(roasted)-4 medium
Garlic (finely chopped)-1 tbsp
Green chilli ( finely chopped)-1 tsp
Fresh coriander leaves-1 tbsp (chopped)
Onion (finely chopped)-1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Mustard oil-1 tsp
Lemon juice-½ tsp
Method
-Take the skin off of the roasted tomatoes, roughly cut them & transfer to a bowl.
-Now mash them with the help of a fork.
-Add all the other ingredients & mix well.
-Serve with sattu paratha.

IMHO - Mustard is the true gold - its versatility in raw and cooked form, for salad dressing to vegetables to mutton, is beyond compare....till the time rest of world enjoys its honeymoon with Olive oil, lets enjoy the mustard and laugh to ourselves on this gem that we got in culture.

In Bengal also we make this paratha besides deep fried the same thing as kachouris in small sizes. We also use mastard oil very widely, and in the sattu dough we always enogh water because sattu absorbs a lot of water. Thank you for sharing it for all.

Thanks for quick response. I m 69 yrs. Watcing all chefs i became independent cook can say proudly. Thanks to living foods and food food. can prepare maharashtrian and punjabi dishes. I taught so many ladies to make khandvi( Gujrathi) or say suralichi vadi in marathi people. me and my wife use to prepre daily 4/5 kg of khandvi 18/ 20 yrs

No jau sattu is different, what I want you to use is chana sattu. This is only made by grinding roasted chanas that we eat. I’ve explained this in a small video, kindly check out the link given in the description

I’m waiting from Guyana 🇬🇾 our ancestors also came from UP and Bihar we make a roti called dhal puri which we boil the split peas dhal and grind it into a powder and add garlic and pepper and geera powder then stuff it into the flour dough and make a roti it the best

I was born in Jamshedpur, then moved to Kolkata in 1979 And then was in Dhanbad( Jamadoba to be precise) from then to 1993 ☺️ where are you from? I’ve been in Mumbai since 1995

The water jar is from Chumbak and the bowl is a ceramic bowl from ARTEVEO, they do a lot of such ceramic tableware ❤️

My doctor has suggested not to wheat so sattu filling can be added in which other aata ? Can we make it in jowar or pls suggest anything else from from wheat ?

No no no sattu and besan are totally different. I’ve explained it in my shorts. Just check it out please. Sattu is easily available online or at grocery stores, if not you can also make it at home. I’ll show that also very soon ❤
