My sister had the same issue being a nanny. Had a French mom that was the biggest helicopter parent in the world. Gives in to everything the child cries about, goes and sleeps in her kid's bed with her EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, couldn't keep her out of her sight for more than 2 hours, etc. They moved away for her husband's job, and she literally quit hers to be a stay-at-home mom despite not being able to afford it because even though my sister was wonderful with their child, she couldn't stand the idea of someone other than herself looking after her child. Yet she had the gal to complain about in-laws wanting to be involved in their granddaughter's life calling them "clingy".

Wendy is in total denial about the situation when she has decided to be a stay at home mum, as Dan himself can't make sufficient income on his own and she won't even pull her portion of the weight to financially support the family. Even if Dan works a second job while Wendy stays at home to care for Rowan, it's not fair to Dan as he's totally cut off from his daughter due to financial obligations. In Canada there's a very high percentage of households that are raising children with 2 working parents (dual income), because of now the high housing costs (in relation to the income) and some even had to have family member from an elderly generation to provide for childcare (3-generational households), again for economic reasons even with generous incomes.

She talks as if he's some stranger not the kids father.... she won't let him be involved at all in raising his own kid.

Wendy had Dan's number, bet she got pregnant on purpose, because she knew he'd marry her. Hope he was able to escape her, but sad for the baby, as that fool of a mother is going to screw her up.

Dance teachers in the US make 50-100 dollars an hour for private lessons. If she is talented why can she cannot do that? Im sure the studio owner makes 35-50 percent of that charge but still its a lot of money

Either way, she quit a job because they couldn't (or wouldn't) give her a raise. Not a mindset for debt repayment...

I would’ve walked out if I was Gail, and handed Dan a check for a divorce attorney.

Divorce atty would have cost far more than the $5,000 cap Gail placed on the money.

The poor husband deserved to have his coffees and cigarettes! He made all the sacrifices and his selfish unsupportive, immature wife got rewarded! Gail got it so wrong with this couple!

Did you just say he deserved to give himself lung cancer because he works? He has a child ffs.

Cigarettes?? NO, they're killers, they're very expensive, and they stink unbearably. They're horrible to have around babies, the nicotine makes everything yellow and sticky, they're dirty....there's not one good thing about them unless one is an immediate heir to the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.!

She's so determined to refuse to accept reality now, and it's "only" about money. I think of what else life can hand us over time: an accident, an illness, lasting disability, a house fire or flood that leaves you with the clothes you stand in and that's all, a sudden layoff.....if you have no grit, no do-or-die spirit in you, you'll collapse. If you have grit you can survive and bounce back. You may not get the life you planned but you'll grow in love and wisdom and joy in spite of all. How has it happened that we are producing so many people who have no grit?

I desperately wanted to be a stay at home mom. I can understand why she’s so adamant about wanting to stay home with her baby. This is the first episode I’ve seen where the couple doesn’t get the full $5,000 (who else got recommended this because of Financial Audit?). I like that this episode was a realistic look at what it would be like for a couple to be unwilling to drastically change their behavior. I hope that Gail’s threat/promise of welfare/divorce/never seeing your daughter because you’re working so much were enough to give this couple a reason to reconsider their current situation
@jb6712Ай бұрын
A lot of the couples didn't get $5,000, and one couple got only $500 because of their really lousy attitudes and them giving up on nearly all the challenges.

Gail is a saint! If I were Gail, I would have just got that camera to slap the woman (Wendy) in the face with it for her stanky attitude towards Gail.
