@DanakarEndeel

@@justinbergmans36 Well, the crosshairs were aimed at his hand and not the cigarette pack. However, The Jackal did specify that he wanted the frame made out of titanium (if I remember correctly) and Black just gave him one out of steel with some non-apology about the guy not having titanium. So that's probably why he got on his bad side as he should have either solved the problem by contacting him about the problem regarding the lack of material and if steel would be an option. It's been a while since I watched this movie but I believe The Jackal even stated that the gun was 'off' during the melon scene; because the mounting stand was made of inferior material.

As regarding Jack Black..? The guy DID try to squeeze more money out of him - and The Jackal's not someone you break a deal with. He dealt PLENTY fairly with both his contact for his passports, and other ID issues, just as he did with that bank executive when purchasing the weapon system. All in all..? The Jackal was properly ethical in his dealings. Murderous as fuck..? yes. (And THEN some!) But he was ('scuse the pun i.e. this scene here) a straight shooter. Or as Declan put it, he's thrived for decades in a business that DOES NOT forgive mistakes.

If you watch almost any action movie with a decent budget from the 80s-90s (even ones that got bad reviews at the time) they invariably look a million times better than 95% of what's produced today. Digital effects have become a crutch for the movie industry and the quality of movies in general have suffered tremendously for it.
@stolenname94
@stolenname94 3 жыл бұрын
@@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg Exactly!!! The creativity has suffered as well and it seems like films are crammed together these days to make a quick buck. There is some good cgi for sure, but they are flexing an ability to produce something on a computer. Take terminator 2 for example, the effects were about 99% practical and all terminators were made from scratch. Its quiet scary really because they seemed so real when I watched it as a kid and still looks real now. I kinda liked the rev 9 in dark fate (dw trash film I'm definitely and I quote not saying it was good) the cgi was actually pretty good and he was pretty scary but doesn't come close to that t1000 from t2.

It's actually a really good movie. It's based on a Frederick Forsyth book, 'Day of The Jackal' which was far more suspenseful than the film, but it still very solid entertainment. It gives me OCD because you can see JB already dead and on the ground in it, so it must have been initially intended to appear later in the scene.

Ironically the biggest idiot in this scene wasn’t Jack Black’s character: it was the Jackal. He killed Jack and then forgot to make sure that anything that could implicate him and lead to his failure was destroyed.

Jack Black looks a bit like Bo Dallas here. Another thing I've noticed while rewatching '90s movies and shows was the obsession with sci-fi elements. Here, on Walker, Beverly Hills Cop 3, etc. They at least randomly slipped in a high-tech gun at every chance.

Not that I object to wasting Lamont, but all he built was a motorized tripod. The optics of the gun sight not aligning with barrel or the target have nothing to do with the motorized tripod. Lamont never even knew what was going to be mounted on it until he got there. Anyone who uses a scope would know this & how to correctly "sight-in" their weapon. It's real simple, test fire the rifle, then align the scope or sights with where bullet hits. If you want to program the computer to auto-aim, it needs at least one additional shot & sighting entered at a different distance in order to calculate the change in target distance to match the change in sighting points. It's not rocket science. Al the tripod has to do is remain stable when shooting the gun. The ground that the tripod here is sitting on would be less stable than the tripod itself, unless it was staked into the ground itself. Am I over-analyzing this? Lol!

That was accurate, scarily accurate, JB didn't get thrown back or explode like you see in most movies, he simply fell over... know why? That calibre simply cut him in half and he fell, people who get shot don't get thrown back by the "impact", often they don't even realise they've ben shot. JB got sawn in half and simply fell in two pieces to the ground. BTW the gun in question is a Polish ZSU-33 14.5mm, it makes big holes very quickly.

This. I have legit pulled up shotgun gore vids to prove to people that your whole body doesn't go flying into the air like you got punched by superman. A looooot of movies do that thing where a guy gets pushed off of his feet and into the air for dramtic effect. That and folks dying from one shots to the torso in a second.
