One of the best food moments of The Sopranos is from Luxury Lounge (Season 6, Episode 7). Near the end of the episode when Artie is closing down the restaurant for the night and the young couple walk in so he agrees to serve them but only with what he still has left in the kitchen. So he pulls out the rabbit he had killed in his garden and finds a old handwritten recipe of his grandfathers which he refers to as “rabbit with pomecello” and cooks it over the stovetop with what appears to be garlic, mirepoix, and red wine. Also all the scenes at Vesuvio are gold there’s something about fat Italian mobsters eating that makes you hungry as fuck

I've never watched The Sopranos, so when Andrew called the relationship between Vito and Johnny Cakes the only healthy one in the entire show, I assumed he was still referring to pancakes. As in, the only person in the show who loves anything unconditionally is Vito, who loves these pancakes. I later learned a bit more, including that Johnny Cakes is apparently a character for whom Vito eventually is in a gay relationship with. Which is all fine and well, but the thought that he was referring to the pancakes is still funnier to me.

Being a proud Southerner with a deep fascination with history at that age, I pestered my loving Great Aunt into going along with the recipe. I don’t remember the exact recipe, but I do remember the taste: Bad. Probably because the recipe was made by some poor starving Confederate with no supplies and as a result tasted of poverty and desperation, but ever since that experience I’ve never touched them again. Glad to see someone got to enjoy them properly and has better memories of Johnny Cakes than I do, though.

There’s plenty of healthy relationships in the Sopranos. I wouldn’t count Vito and the fireman as one of them lol.

I want to see you try to make a good cabbage soup from Tim Burton's Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

Can we get a Carmella's lasagna video? Little bits of sweet sausage chopped with the beef and a layer of basil leaves underneath the cheese! The one Janice tries to pass as her own. Lol
