This isn't the first time we've taken a look at the foods featured in Jon Favreau's food-film masterclass, Chef. In fact, it isn't the second or third time. And it won't be the last. Follow along this week as we recreate these crunchy, squeezy, soft Crescent City donuts that finally brought a father and son together.

Hey Babish, being a deaf person, I require your closed captions, and I appreciate you taking the time to throw in the puns and references you make. Especially when you use the word Thicc to describe dough.

Steve Colt I am not deaf, but I often watch videos with subtitles and no sound. What I realized is: -Many big channel don’t have actual subtitles/only auto generated -News and sports channels’ lag horribly behind, making it confusing to watch -There are only really a variety of language subtitles on channels with international viewers (at the very least for US channels it should have English and Spanish) -A description of the type of music playing or tone of voice in movie subtitles is crucial for full understanding -Many are positioned in a way where it is difficult to tell who is speaking if multiple people are present I think we should put more time into improving this experience for the deaf/hard of hearing, as media is a connecting factor in society, therefore it should be widely accessible.

This motivated me to go rewatch the video with captions on, and I really can't say I regretted it. Seriously, I had no idea I was missing a "that's what she said" joke here until today. Thanks, Caption Joke Dude.

LastKing It’s the second most spoken language in the U.S. and most alternate instructions are written or spoken in Spanish. But this would only be for videos with primarily American viewers, because internationally Spanish would not be as prominent.

If you live in La, walk-ons has some small but decent ones. Other than that. Ya gotta make them yourself. And cafe du monde isn't the only place in n.o. that makes them. Just the most popular. If you face the cathedral, walk to it's back left. And follow that road left. Theres a small place after the court house, before acme, on your left that sells them. They're just as good. And no pigeons.

You can always go to the Cafe du Monde outside of New Orleans. You get the iconic beignets, with the cleanliness of most restaurants. I don't hate the one in New Orleans; but as a native, it is both gross & a tourist trap. No lie, it used to be alot better; but after it changed hands, the quality of the place went down. But things change & time goes on

Instead of using flour use the powdered mixture /trust me it makes a difference 2.) grape seed oil~~ MUST USE IT there’s a big difference with oils 3.) when you’re putting the oil top of the beignet you must do it quickly the faster the poofier

Even with all that advice, it still doesn’t taste the same. I don’t know how and I don’t know why, but no one can make beignets like the wizards in Cafe du Monde. They’ve literally told me everything they do. Is it the humidity, the temperature, the size of the vats, the quality of the flour? It’s like New York pizzas. You just can’t get them anywhere else in the world.

I don’t understand, if they are supposed to be fluffy, doesn’t that mean that there is air inside? I’m talking about the flavor. I’ve seen southern grannies that make them outside of New Orleans. I’ve tried authentic beignets from my creole aunt, who moves to Canada 23 years ago. They still taste awesome, but nowhere near as good as Cafe du Monde.
